Apartment overview - owner's description

Lovely 2 bed apartment with Sky TV, DVD. Quiet communal pool gardens, perfectly located by the beautiful beach of La Mata. Near restaurants, bars, shops, internet. Free welcome pack included!!

The apartment is on the ground floor and is not in a large block. It has a patio overlooking the marble paved pedestrian walk way. There are other apartments and houses each side and opposite. Some are the permanent residences of Spanish English and German families and others are holiday homes. The area is well lit at night and in the evening families sit outside and children play on the walk way.
From the patio you enter the living /dining area furnished with a large sofa ( converts to a double bed if required) , rug, dining table and 4 chairs, dresser with glasses and crockery and TV etc on top. There is an open fireplace to the side. The kitchen area is divided off by a bar and traditional Spanish wooden shelving. The bathroom is off the short corridor and has toilet bidet bath and in- bath shower .
Further along the corridor is the master bedroom with french windows to the small back yard and off the master bedroom is a children's room with two small single beds.
All towels and linen is provided and beach toys etc are in the outside cupboard. Free welcome pack included!

The area around the apartment
Down steps in front of the apartment is the large shared swimming pool with beautiful views over the sea. It has a sectioned area for children. This is reached through the community gardens . The key to the gate is in the apartment. Just below the swimming pool is the bus stop for frequent buses to both La Mata and Torrevieja.
Only a few minutes walk from the apartment is a fantastic sandy beach with all amenities but yet tasteful and uncommercialised. The area of beach immediately below the property is ideal for fishing and has a famous fish restaurant overlooking the sea, which is well worth a visit
200 yards further on is the huge clean sandy beach of La Mata with local restaurants and small beach bars. All along the top of the beach is a pedestrian walkway which is lit at night and goes to La Mata.
At the top of the road you have a selection of small shops, tapas bars, restaurants and internet cafes. There is also a new bar and night club across the main road.

Places to visit and things to do
La Mata has a huge local market on Wednesday and Torrevieja's market is Thursday. Everything from local food to shoes and carpets are on sale.
Torrevieja has a long marble promenade and is great for shopping for presents. It has a marina and a lovely town square around the church. There is also an Aquapark.
Guardamar is the next resort north of La Mata. It is an attractive holiday destination and has a naturist beach.
Elche has a history that goes back to the Romans as does Cartegena.
Public transport is excellent, frequent and cheap. It is possible to take a bus anywhere along the coast from the bus station at Torrevieja which is about 15 minutes from the bus stop near the apartment

The apartment is small and well equipped & clean, I thought the price was a little high considering there is no air-con and the outdoor space is very small and only gets sun first thing in the morning for a couple of hours. The steps to and from the apartment are not child/buggy friendly and are not very well noticed in the dark whcih can be a bit tricky. There were no instructions for the microwave/grill/oven combi in the apt so we couldnt use it and wasted some food because of this, we also thought the cleaning charge was excessive considering we were expected to do most of the work before we left. The apt itself is very well located just minutes from the beach down the hill or up the hill to the main st with all the bars and restaurants and only a short stroll from the supermarket (Mercadona) & the pool is very quiet and spotlessly clean.Overall we had a pleasant stay but the lack of outdoor space in particular would put me off booking this apt again.

I was looking for a short break for a rest. This apartment was perfect. I found the apartment clean and well equipped. It is at an ideal location. Quiet but close to restaurants, and most importantly close to a beautiful beach. The swimming pool allowed me to swim lengths. A totally enjoyable break, I shall book again.

Family of 4, kids aged 17 and 2, visited early July 2009 (No car).

We enjoyed our stay here. The little bedroom off the main bedroom is good for toddlers, not so good for older children that might want some privacy. Our 17 year old slept on the sofa bed instead.

Good points - clean, quiet, comfy beds, big pool, only 200m to the little beach. Good choice of restuarants within walking distance (mostly english speaking). Kitchen seemed well equipped (although we hardly did any cooking).
Welcome pack very useful, and outdoor cupboard had loads of useful stuff in it (lilo, beach chair, sunbed cushions etc.)

Bad points (none enough to mar our stay) - Its on a steep hill (lots of steps down to the pool) - so not ideal for prams or people with walking difficulties. The local supermarket (corner shop) isnt very good, and its about 1/2 a mile or more to the big supermarket. The double bed creaks every time you turn over on it. And the apt. is just a little bit small for 4 people.

Nice place, theres no a/c but the ceiling fan in the bedroom did the job perfectly.

I spent three wonderful weeks in this property with my teenage son and his friend. It met all our expectations. The property was as in advert, full of all necessary things. The beach is very close and sea was perfect. Thanks a lot to the owner. Ill recommend it to my friends with great pleasure.

Well, i thought house will be more close to the sea said. I was there with my little son and wasnt really comfortable coz was a lot of steps wich is no good for puschairs...

Perfect for a quiet get away, located in residential area. Within easy reach of shops, bars and restaurants and nightlife - if that's required. Only minutes down the road to the beach. Excellent value buses, only a few mins from route into main town (Torrevieja). Bus stops outside big supermarket with everything you need. Great chinese restaurant and lovely coffee shop in the square. Visited at end of November, weather was lovely and warm (t-shirt and jeans). Can't wait to go again in May - hot hot hot!!
