Just 50 minutes from Malaga airport, nestled within the green slopes of the "Sierra Huma" mountain, Rocabella Villas offers guests a unique opportunity to enjoy spectacular views of the Guadalhorce Valley from the comfort of their accommodation. The Gomez family have taken particular care to integrate the Finca into the surrounding countryside and groves, where centuries old carob trees and various types of Mediterranean oaks and shrubbery thrive.El Chorro is best known as a world class climbing destination, with thousands of routes and grades to suit all climbers. Within easy reach of Malaga airport, the area welcomes climbers from all over the word, throughout the year - especially during the Winter and Spring seasons when the mild, dry weather is perfect for climbing. One of the most famous routes for visitors in the region is along 'Camino Del Rey' (Kings Pathway), an adventurous tour through the steep gorge of El Chorro. For climbers in El Chorro the Camino del Rey is a spectacular, once in a lifetime experience.

As well as rock climbing, the region offers an abundance of other year round activities such as hiking, mountain biking and paragliding, all set within the beautiful Andalusian countryside. The city of Malaga is 1hr away from the Finca. Cordoba and Granada are just 1.5 - 2 hrs away by car and Sevilla 2.5 hours - all places worthy of at least a day's visit if not more.

Being more accustomed to mainly coastline holidays and typical holiday resort locations, we considered it to be a bit of a risk to choose an inland location. However, we need not have been concerned as this place was absolutely perfect and provided us with everything that we could wish for. Firstly the villa, which was extremely private and not in any way overlooked by other villas on the Finca. The facilities, furnishings, accommodation, private pool, were exactly what we wanted and gave us the choice of staying put and lounging in the brilliant weather or using our rented car to visit some of the close-by attractions. We spent 11 days in the villa and spent our time soaking up the sun and on alternative days driving to places of interest. The close-by scenery attractions were at times breathtaking and unique. While driving to further away places might not be of interest to everyone, we managed to get to see Seville, Granada and the areas of Toremolinas and Mijas, all within a comfortable driving distance from Rocabella.

"The area around the Finca is very beautiful. The damn at El Chorro creates a dramatic James Bond villain setting at the bottom of the quite awesome El Chorro Gorge. National Parks surround this area and you can pootle around the winding roads discovering new little places to drive/walk to. Beyond the gorge is a set of reservoir/lakes near Ardales with a few restaurants dotted around. All good little walks - nothing too strenuous or you could take it more seriously if you have the rights shoes, which I dont. Its very well placed for visiting the rest of Andalucia - over the years weve had day trips driving across hills and plains to Seville, Cordoba, Jerez, Cadiz, Tarifa, Grenada... all manageable."
