The villa is situated in a stunning location which made up for the disappointing lack of maintenance to the property. For example, one of the showers didnt work. The promised replacement TV never arrived and none of the sunshades in the garden were operable, (and we were fortunate to have hot weather.). The ground floor bedroom experienced an invasion of grasshoppers one night which caused a few hysterics. During our week at the property we experienced 2 major power cuts of 4 hours duration. The approach to the property is somewhat hazardous and something needs to be done about the top of the entrance to the drive. Having said all that, we had a wonderful week enjoying the facilities that the area offered. White water rafting, a very enjoyable river trip with lunch provided, and an unusual car/train journey through the mountains to Lake Bled. One of our party is interested in military history and the museum at Kobarid is worth a visit, and of course the walking opportunities are endless. Everyone in our family of 12 was catered for and some of us will certainly go back to Slovenia but not to this property as it didnt live up to its promise as a luxury villa..
Owner reply:

Dear Jean, After speaking to you on the phone before your holiday and emailing to discuss bedroom arrangements, I'm so sorry to hear that Soca Vila didn't meet your expectations. I have really thought about everything you have said and I wanted to send a personal response to your comments. We stayed at the property ourselves in June to ensure it was prepared and in good order for the summer 2014 rentals. We bought new bedding, 4 new parasols, sanded and oiled the sun loungers, waxed the antiques, put drain unblocker down all the drains etc. At that time, all the showers were in working order and since no other guests have mentioned an issue with one the showers, all I can do is apologise for this and investigate it. We have excellent water pressure at the house and plenty of hot water, so I hope it wasn't too much of an issue. Regarding the parasols - all I can guess is that previous guests have left them open and they have broken in the wind. After staying at a friends villa in Umbria this August, we took away the plans for the permanent steel structure they had by the pool and we have found a local tradesman in Slovenia to build two of these in autumn 2014 at Soca Vila - one for the pool area and one for the outdoor table. Regarding the grass hoppers - I apologise and hope no one was scared by them - I will see what can be done to remove them. I believe they originated in the wine cellar which adjoins the ground floor 'spill over' bedroom. Regarding the driveway, I have to be honest and say that no one has ever mentioned the driveway in 7 years of renting and we have never had a problem using it with any cars we've rented over the years. All I can guess is that the unusually high rainfall in Europe this summer has made the driveway deteriorate. After receiving your SMS about the power cut, I immediately phoned Elektro Primorska (the local electric company) and was told they were doing some works earlier that day and that it should be back on now. I'm afraid this is Slovenia for you!! The TV broke in an electrical storm shortly before your arrival and I bought a replacement on a Slovene website ( and phoned a few days later to check why it hadn't arrived to be told that the order didn't go through because the address for delivery was not the address that my credit card was registered to. I really am sorry about this - I was so annoyed at the time as I assumed it had arrived. I put the order through again on the phone and the TV arrived the day just after you left, so I'm really sorry that you missed out. Finally, I am aware that you were a very large group (12 people) and I didn't want to disappoint so I agreed to the booking but in reality, the house has 4 bedrooms and 1 'spillover' bedroom so it is best suited to a group of 8 people. Thank you so much for taking the time to review the house - all your points have been noted. I'm really glad that you enjoyed Slovenia - it is a fantastic holiday destination. We will be making a trip to the house in late September and I will update the photos of Villarenters to show our latest works on the property! Best regards, Victoria

We have rented many, many lovely houses over the years and I can say with complete confidence that this was the most glorious - a definite "wow!" house. It took our breath away. The views are nothing short of stunning, the decoration and furnishing tasteful and high quality, the bathrooms and kitchens lavish, and the location just right for what we wanted to do, a mixture of walking, adventure activities and just enjoying the fabulous scenery. Victoria and Peter gave us a wonderful welcome. Nothing was too much trouble and they are delightful people. It is not often that one chooses to spend an evening chatting to the owners of the properties, who usually just regard it as a business, not a pleasure, to rent out the house. They can lay on dinners (we had a superb BBQ one night) and breakfasts, will advise on local sights and activities, and even arranged for the adventure activities company to come to the house and give their sales pitch. There is a well-stocked cellar, operated on an honesty system, and the kitchens have everything you could possibly need in them (though it is slightly odd having two!). It was wonderful, too, to pick salad and vegetables from the garden every day. The swimming pool is in an amazing position, surrounded by the lush garden and flowery meadows. Chamoix visited us, charming little lizards scuttled around and birds of prey circled overhead. The local village, Most na Soci, provides all you want from the supermarket and its an invigorating 25 minute training session to walk back up the very steep hill to the house - or four minutes drive! A couple of very minor niggles, which really dont matter much at all: being at the end of the electricity line, the power supply is slightly dodgy, which resulted in several cuts when we tried to run too many appliances and the oven at once. In addition, the sauna didnt get as hot as it should do. The owners are negotiating with the electricity company to have this fixed, but it may take a while. In addition, the directions to the house could be improved - we got there only after several phone calls - so we suggest taking the owners up on their offer of meeting you at the local petrol station! But both these little difficulties come as a result of the house being where it is in such an amazing position - and its definitely worth it. Wed certainly recommend it to anyone who appreciates the finer things in life!
Property was excellent. We were 5 guys with our own bedrooms (4 en-suite) The pool was fantastic and plenty big enough to do small lengths !!! The house is very quiet and about a 3 minute drive to the local town of Most na Soci. Ideal if you want a Get-away from it all holiday !BUT with the option of doing more if needed !!

We had such an fantastic holiday. The house was just beautiful and top quality throughout. The beds were so comfortable, the bathrooms were superb and it was amazing to wake up to that view everyday. We enjoyed picking fresh vegetables everyday and the lounging by the pool in the afternoon. Being so close to Most na Soci, we were able to buy fresh bread every morning. The kids loved running around in the garden and we loved to barbeque and relax outside. This really is a super property and I would recommend it to anyone.
