Fantastic villa in a great location. We stayed with my parents and our toddler and it was perfect - great facilities, very well equipped and immaculate. We were a little concerned about the lack of air con before we went but the villa is really well designed to stay cool and it wasn't an issue at all, even when temperatures hit 30 degrees. The kitchen is really well equipped and we got plenty of use out of the barbecue and outdoor seating (complete with enormous umbrella!). The pool and garden area was lovely with plenty of seating available (sun loungers and chairs). Even beach towels are provided. Locally, there is a good choice of restaurants about 1km walk away. We tried a number and found them all great value for money with good food (and house wine - the vinha verde was a revelation!). There's also a mini market at a similar distance. A little further afield (maybe 1.5km) there's the centre of Apulia with more shops (eg bakers, butchers and fish) and restaurants. The beach about 50m away was great. It can get a little breezy later in the day as other reviewers have said but the pool was more sheltered. Unless you're happy to spend all of the time on the beach and by the pool, you do need a car (we used Hertz in Esposende). There is plenty to explore locally, we particularly enjoyed Porto, Braga, Viana do Castelo, Ponte de Lima, Ponte de Barca and the market at Barcelos. There are a number of toll roads so we found it worthwhile having the electronic toll calculator activated in the hire car (Hertz offered this when we collected it). For travel with children, there is a sturdy high chair and nice travel cot which was made up with a lovely bedding set. It's full cot size which was a relief with a long toddler! There are security blinds so we could leave the bedroom window open overnight and at nap time. The living areas of the ground floor can be closed off from the stairs (it's a sliding door from the lounge). There are only 7 steps up to the bedrooms floor. We were glad we'd taken a monitor as the doors are effective for sound proofing! We didn't see any way to close off the mezzanine floor but that was fine as we had more than enough living space in the downstairs lounge and kitchen which are a great size. Outside, the garden to the side and back of the villa are great and our daughter loved running down the slope. It was also good having grass round the pool so fewer worries about slipping. There's also a lengthy car port which was handy for outdoor play in the shade. All of the local restaurants had high chairs - no children's menus but portions were so large we could easily share! We enjoyed a couple of pizza takeaways from Urbanus Pizzeria in Apulia after bed time as well. There's a playground on the seafront in Apulia. We'd definitely recommend Villa Ofir for a family holiday, we had a fantastic time and loved both the villa and the local area.
