Two bedroom Town House (Old Village)

The Old Village was created some 30 years ago as a complete community, although it is only 20 minutes walk to the Vilamoura marina. The architecture of the ‘village’ is reproduction 18th and 19th century Portuguese where the walkways are alternately classic and rural facades. The well tended gardens are always very colourful. The complex is free from traffic, and the walkways are a local version of cobbled streets. The Old Village is surrounded by the beautiful fairways of the Pinhal golf course.
There are three swimming pools. The main pool is family friendly with a very shallow area at one end. There are sunloungers at the pool and the centrepiece is the poolside bar. The main pool is 100 m. from the house. Access to the pool is by a pool card for which a deposit is charged by our agents, Alternativas. The small pool, less than 50m from the house, is not suitable for young children, due to the depth of water. This pool is smaller and has a more restricted area for sunloungers. The third and newest pool - about 200 m. away - is ideal for adults and older children. There is a children’s play area close to this pool. The Condominiun of the Old Village make a charge of 1.5 euros per half day for the use of sunloungers round the pools.
There are two sunloungers and two reclining seats plus table and chairs, on the roof terrace of the house
Some 50m. from the house is the supermarket. It provides a comprehensive service, best of which is the wonderful bread and rolls which arrive early each morning. Although, a little restricted in terms of space, it offers a wide range of goods. Next door, there are two cafes where excellent snack meals are available. There are three restaurants in the development. The Princess Garden is a splendid backdrop to the smallest of the swimming pools. The Casa do Largo is on Church Square. The newest restaurant is the Zanzibar. The have Wi-Fi. They offer a good, value menu. They, along with the cafes,do take-aways. Zanzibar does a weekly kareoke where the singing is led by the owner.
Although the Old Village is not a large complex, there are few examples of such a wide range of services being provided so conveniently.
The roof terrace has been completely re-done and the bases for the four single beds replaced in June 2010.

Vilamoura and the surrounding attractions
The Old Village is an integral part of Vilamoura – a resort which has been created to the highest standards- the golf courses - the marina – the shops – the restaurants – the casino – the hotels – the sports facilities. All are excellent.
Closeby the Old Village are the fairways of the Pinhal golf course, the nearest of the five Vilamoura courses. Each of the courses has a driving range, and there is also a Golf Academy for honing all aspects of the game while the sun shines on your back.
200m from the Old Village, is Vilamoura tennis, which you see as you stroll down to the shops at the marina. The tennis club has many fine courts with full facilities. At the heart of the facility is the restaurant. Also, almost a Km away are two lawn bowling greens.
In Vilamoura restaurants and bars abound, but the greatest concentration is to be found round the marina, filled with the most stylish of yachts. The marina is about 15 minutes walk away, and the beach is another 10-15 minutes. On the way down, you pass the Roman archeological remains. The Falaisia beach stretches from the marina entrance away to the west with Albufeira in the distance. The beach is unspoiled with no vehicular access being allowed. A river separates the car park from the beach.
A car is not essential since distances are short and taxi fares modest.
It can be good fun to use the ‘Vilamoura trains’, which actually run on the road. The different road circuits, and the time-tables are available at all local agents. The 'train' goes to the marina and the beach.
Next door to Vilamoura, is the seaside town of Quarteira. It too has a convenient beach, and being close to shops and cafes, has a different atmosphere. The weekly market takes place on Wednesday. There is also a fruit market and a fish market open every day. The town is filled with all the shops and business you would expect, but there are a number of very special restaurants and cafes.
There are a number of water parks in the Vilamoura/Albufeira area. Many have dedicated bus services available. The nearest is about 1.5Km away, just past the Vila Sol golf course. The Zoomarine also has a bus service and is beyond Albufeira. They boast a birds of prey show, a sea Lion show, lakes and gardens, an aquarium, swimming pools, dolphins, as well as the park amusements – giant wheel – pirate ship – flume ride – mini roller-coaster, etc. At a price, one can swim with dolphins.
We are in between the two large shopping centres. There is one at Faro, but we prefer Algarve Shopping on the main road, just beyond Albufeira. There is a huge selection of shops – Zara is always good value – but there are too many fashion and shoe shops to mention. They have an immense supermarket, a food court and a range of restaurants, along with an 8 screen multiplex cinema. They have a shuttle bus service.
Whether you are looking for peace and quiet, or for an active holiday, such as horse riding, sailing or deep sea fishing, you will find a comprehensive choice of activities in Vilamoura, or if you want to scratch the surface of Portugal and the Portuguese, you will want to explore the market town of Loule, less than 10Km. inland.
If you do visit Vilamoura, we hope you will, like us, find that it is a most agreeable area, and that the people are friendly and very pleasant.

Golf in the Algarve
The Algarve is famous for golf for three reasons – the climate – the number of golf courses – and the quality of these courses.
It started in Vilamoura with the course now called ‘The Old Course’, but there is golf all along the Algarve now. The most recent growth area is the eastern end of the Algarve now boasting 4-5 quality courses. In addition, there two or three good courses across the border in Spain, no more than an hour’s drive from the Old Village.
Vilamoura has recently unveiled its fifth and most expensive course – the Victoria, designed by Arnold Palmer. The next, in order of price, is the classic Old Course, with its fairways totally bordered with a special pine tree, through which no golf ball travels. It is an exquisite layout. The next is the Millennium course, five holes of which is classic Algarve golf. The rest, although good, are a little open. The next is Pinhal, again with an abundance of pine trees, and water hazards on three holes. Finally, with water on eight holes, we have the aptly named Laguna course.
Local agents can arrange discounts on many of these and other courses, but if you were interested primarily in Vilamoura, you can arrange direct, a variety of golf packages at very good prices with Oceanico, the Company owning the Golf Courses.
Each of the courses has a driving range. There is, in addition, an independent Golf Academy, with a driving range. The putting and short game practice facilities are very good. They also offer golf on their three hole circuit.

Well appointed 2 bedroom house with a roof terrace. Delightful traffic-free development with three pools, supermarket, friendly bars and restaurants.

Value for money
Stayed Tuesday 18 October 2011
This is our 4th stay at the property. And as usual it is great value for money. Excellant service from property management company. We love this townhouse, and it has everything to make a stay comfortable.

Overall, our stay here was most enjoyable. As is probably inevitable, it was the little things which took the edge off: - doors catching on floor tiles when you enter a room (in particular, ground floor bathroom) - roof terrace door rattles in the faintest breeze - some of the fixtures and fittings are tired. A refresh of the pots, pans and cutlery in the kitchen is long overdue, as are new kitchen units. - a coat of varnish on doors and other woodwork would make a big difference, as would filling of holes left from the removal of old fittings. The above may present a rather negative view ,which we definitely dont have. As I say, these little niggles could be sorted over a weekend and would transform it from a "Hmmm...nice." to a "Wow!" property.

This is are second time back now and will not be are last. it has everything we require pools for the kids a sun terrace for us.To know that you are on a secure complex and that there are people on hand right away if you need anything. we meet one of the owners on this trip and what a delight and pleasant occasion it was.
Stayed Friday 27 August 2010
Although it was stated in the description that the property was 10mins from the marina and beach it was on both counts 35mins.walk The furniture and fittings are in need of up-dating. There was no resort /local information provided in the apartment. The complex and pools were of an excellent standard.

Outside of the property very impressive, therefore quite disappointed when we saw the interior. Covers over leather settees, first thought, what are they hiding. Didnt seem particularly clean around corners of the rooms and under the beds didnt appear to have been swept . The reasons for this was apparent when my husband watched the maid sweep the sitting room, just the middle, without moving the rug, then sweeping the lot out the front door. The bedrooms are very basic and the beds rickety. The bathroom not a bad size but the shower cubicle very small. After saying all the above, the property was well equipped for cooking, the washing machine worked well, we always had an excellent supply of hot water for our showers and the tv with satellite channels an added bonus. The roof terrace had stunning views and well equipped although only two sunbeds...a problem if four people stay here. The surrounding area very quiet and beautifully kept. The agents were very helpful and pleasant and arranged transfers perfectly. We would consider going again.

Our 3rd Visit to the Old Village and each time our expectaions have been exceeded. We had a wonderful time during the holiday and our children aged 11 & 8 enjoyed swimming in the pools on offer and had a great holiday. The pools we felt were never overcrowded and we easily obtained sunloungers during the day.The Zanzibar and Princess gardens offer excellent food and service something which can not be said about the restraunt (Casa de Longa) in the centre of the old village which was our only dissapointment during the holiday. The appartment is equipped well for a summer holiday and the owner is very accomadating and friendly. Without hesitation we would reccomend this appartment and the old village for a holiday.

We went at beginning of August as a family of 4 including a 17 and 14 year old. The accommodation was clean, comfortable, well equipped and spacious. It was particularly good to have a roof top terrace with sun beds and table and chairs. The Old Village was a lovely development and we were within 100m or so of most of the restaurants and bars on the site as well as the well stocked supermarket. The main pool was family friendly with a choice of sunbeds to hire or areas of grass on which to put towels. The staff at Alternativas (managing agents) were friendly and helpful and managed to sort out any minor problems very quickly. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable and restful holiday.

This has been the 2nd time my wife & I have spent 8 nights at this town house, and it definately will not be the last. A perfect location at a perfect complex. The 8 days of glorious April sunshine helped too. The staff at the multialternativas booking office were great, we did not arrive while the Saturday evening, but a quick phone call to the number on the office window, and a lady arrived with our keys within 5 minutes. They were great too at the end of our stay, we were not flying home until 7p.m. but were allowed to keep the house on at no extra cost, until we left. They even arranged our return taxi for us. All the amenities at the house are in as new condition and the place has a cool pleasant feel about it. The roof top terrace is a great place to spend some private time.

We really enjoyed our stay in the Old Village and the property was excellant value for money, the only downside was there was no bath (I think perhaps this should be mentioned in the property details). The sun terrance was great and the property had everything we needed. The Old Village is a great place to stay, supetmarket, bars and resturants on site but if you whan to walk to the marina it only takes 20 mins and the taxi back was only 3.80 euros and less than 5 euros after midnight. We have been going to Vilamoura for the past 10 years and this was the second time we have been to the Old Village and we will be going there again.
Stayed Thursday 18 September 2008
Property was quite basic but had all that we required. The location is very good and the old village area is a delightful location, beautifully landscaped and well-maintained. The directions from Faro airport to the complex were somewhat misleading and I would advise anyone travelling for the first time to access better information (eg. AA or similar). Overall the apartment offered great value and I would have no hesitation in recommending it, so long as you are mobile enough to manage the steps.
Stayed Sunday 06 July 2008
We were extremely impressed with this property and its location. The property was in extremely good condition and well equipped. It was actually much nicer than than indicated by the photos on the site. The sun terrace was an added bonus. The Old Village itself was also well looked after and the facilities were excellent . We would definately like to return.
Stayed Saturday 07 June 2008
the apartment was generally clean and extremely well equipped particularly the kitchen. it was nice that there was a microwave, cooker, sky tv, most of the Uk tv channels and an excellent roof terrace. the shower was particularly good and there was a toilet on the 2nd floor so we did not have to go to the 3rd floor shower room if we were in the sitting room and we needed to use the toilet. the old village estate was very quiet (1st week in june) and the pool facilities were excellent. one criticism was that there was no air conditioning and the bedrooms got stifling hot but the flat came equipped with portable fans which helped a lot. the floor behind the table and the settees was very dusty and had not been cleaned in a couple of months. the roof terrace was great and relaxing to use early evening for a bottle of wine when the sun went down. all in all an excellent apartment in a good location 10-15min walk from the marine and we would recommend to others. nice too that there were no cars in the centre of the old village. service of alternativistas property agents on site was good too.
Stayed Wednesday 28 May 2008
Very pleasant location, clean and tidy appartment with all thats needed for a self catering holiday. The spirral stairs from the lounge to the first floor were a bit tight, suggest maybe worth mentioning for older people or young children. All in all a very good holiday and we will return soon!

This has been our 3rd visit to The Old Village Resort, but our first to this property, We have previously hired larger properties as there have been 6 of us, but because only my wife & I holidayed this time, we chose this 2 bedroomed townhouse. Value for money was excellent, and conbined with the cheap flights with, we managed to have 9 nights here for a total package of £215 each. The lounge area was quaint and cosey and gives a cottagey feel to it. The TV has satelite stations including all the UK's terrestrial channels and Sky Sports. There is a large library of books for the reader, from all the Harry Potter's through to autobiographies - I managed to get through John Peel's autobiography. There is also a games compendium, with Cards, Backgammon & Dominoes. There is also a few easy Jigsaws for the kids - Paddington, Thomas Tank etc. Everything was spotlessly clean upon arrival and the maid cleaned and changed the towels on 3 occassions during our stay. There is a clean and well stocked Kitchen, with Fridge/Freezer, Oven, Microwave, Toaster. Probably the best and most enjoyable part is the roof terrace which we used every day for taking breakfast then sunbathing. The privacy of your own space is fantastic. The Old Village Resort is excellent throughout and there are 6 bars & restaurants on site, which offer great food at reasonable prices. All of which are within 150 metres from this property, Pam & Martyn always give a great welcome at the Nautical Bar, We had meals at The Casa De Longa, The O' Cafe and The newly opened Zanzibar Restaurant, and would recommend all of them. Don't worry about it being too loud, it's just not like that! The local supermarket is about 30 metres from the property, and surprisingly for an onsite supermarket, it's prices were about as cheap as we found in the whole resort of Vilamoura. All in all, an excellent property, and one we will definately consider again.

We stayed in this property on the Old Village for the first time although we have previously been to Vilamoura in a hotel. The property was excellent and had everything that you would need for a relaxing holiday. The Sun Terrace was in full sun all day and the bathroom has a sink, toilet and a shower, it is only a 10 minute walk to the Marina. In fact we liked it so much we have booked again for May, staying in the same property. Overall an excellent holiday and looking forward to the next, we could not fault this property in any way and would highly recommend it.
Stayed Tuesday 19 December 2006
We have visited the Old Village before and found this property to be as clean and well maintained as other properties we have stayed in. Enjoyed our stay.
Stayed Sunday 23 July 2006
Property and The Old Village itself exceeded our expectations. The Maisonette was spacious and had everything we needed and more. The roof terrace was a bonus and it was lovely to have a choice of pools and restraunts so close. Our Children aged 8 & 5 had a great time at the main pool which was clean and safe with a large shallow area for them to play in. The Old village is a wonderful resort, clean, tidy and very accommodating for families We spent the first two weeks of the children’s summer holiday at the Old Village and did not feel at any time that the village was too busy. We would have no hesitation recommending it and would probably return ourselves. The Marina is a 20 - 25 minute walk with young children but well worth it on an evening to enable you watch the world go by as you eat at one of the many restraunts to choose from.
Stayed Saturday 13 May 2006
Great Location, quiet but excellent base for Golf. Easy walk down to Marina area all amenities close to hand. Roof terrace was a nice bonus
Stayed Friday 31 March 2006
The apartment had everything that we needed for our two week holiday. We loved the rooftop terrace, and spent quite a bit of time up there, watching the sunset or just relaxing. To have the towels and bedding changed so regularly was also a bonus. The Old Village was a magical place to stay, which we and our children enjoyed very much. We found all the facilities of Vilamoura to be within easy walking distance (even for a 6-year old), but even if you chose to stay on-site there was sufficient choice in terms of eating, swimming and the playground to keep us occupied.
Stayed Tuesday 09 August 2005
The property is situated in the lovely old village, it is very quiet and a perfect location for a relaxing holiday. The marina area is a 15-20min walk, where you will find a range of resturants covering a range of pockets. Th appartment was clean and had everything you needed. The roof terrace gives a lovely area to sit and soak up the sun while being cooled bu the breeze. Overall the appartment was great. The old village has resterant and bars which offer friendly service. The pools were clean and well maintained but could get busy (we were there in August) I expect we will return to the old village in the future.
Stayed Friday 24 June 2005
Our stay at the Old Village more than exceeded our expectations. The location is well placed for a very relaxing holiday. 10 minutes walk to Vilamoura's cosmopolitan Marina (or a few minutes ride on the Tourist Train / 5 mins in a taxi). With many good restaurants, bars and a well stocked supermarket on site. The complex is also child friendly with a lovely clean family swimming pool. The Maisonette was clean and comfortably furnished with the facilities more than adequate for what was required for our stay. We made good use of the roof-top sun terrace and really enjoyed the lovely breeze. For Golfers this is an excellent location for a golfing break. The village is sited within the boundaries of the Pinhal Golf Course, and within 2/3 miles of at least 3 other courses. It is also only a short drive to the more upmarket golf courses of Vale do Lobo and Quinta da Lago. Finally, one of the best parts of the holiday was the food. Superb. We would strongly recommend any visitors to go "off the beaten track" and find some of the more traditional Portugese restaurants. We found one in particular La Cabana, in the backstreets of Quarteria - recommended by Pam & Martyn at the Bar Nautico. We will definitely be coming back to The Old Village at some point in the future.
Stayed Tuesday 24 May 2005
The property is ideally located in the Old Village complex and was a good base for us on our golfing week. We were only a 15minute walk from the marina with it's restaurants and bars and Ana from Alternativas (on site) sorted all our taxi requirements for the week's golf. The property itself was comfortable and provided all we needed and has a fantastic roof terrace where we managed to catch some rays!
Stayed Wednesday 09 March 2005
Excellent location, with stunning views from the terrace. The property was very comfortable - apart from the beds. The beds seriously need replacing as you can feel the springs digging into you as you try to sleep. One of them squeaked so much, just by sitting on it. Because of the lack of sleep, I feel like I need another holiday. Apart from this the property was very adequate. I would contemplate staying here again, but only if the beds were changed.
Stayed Wednesday 09 March 2005
The apartment was clean, daily maid service & towel change. There was all the equipment that you need for a self catering holiday. Sky television was a real bonus. Internally there are narrow stairs leading to the bedrooms and roof terrace, so not ideal for anyone with mobility problems or even young children. The apartment was well situated within the old village and the resort is close to the marina & beach.

Good location and good facilities,We hope to return soon.
First time staying at this complex, All in all we were more than happy. The accomadation was lovely and spacious with everything you need. We spent a lot of our time on the roof terrace which was brilliant to lie out on, eat your meals and just sit and enjoy a bevvy.I feel that this house was well worth what we payed, and exceeded our expectations. The house and surrounding area is exactly how it looks in the pictures all very clean, tidy and beautiful. All the staff on this complex are more than helpful and always happy and friendly. I would most definatly recommend this to a friend, and will definatly be going back.
This was our second visit to the old village and was once again a lovely holiday. The Villa itself is nice and comfortable, and was just right for what we wanted and good value for money. We had a few teething issues but these were all sorted out efficiently. If youre looking for a 2 bed villa in a great location and a good price Id certainly recommend this although do be aware there is no air con so could be an issue in peak season, as we were in April it didnt effect us.
This is the 4th year running we have rented this property and once again, we have had a brilliant holiday. Superb location just 10 mins. walk to the marina. The Old Village complex is superb, the standard of everything from the upkeep of the gardens, the various shops, bars & restaurants far exceeds your expectations. Will definately use again.
What a gem! The apartment was in a superb location, the complex is simply stunning. The staff were unbelievably helpful and friendly and were waiting for us when we arrived at almost midnight. They couldnt do enough to ensure our stay was as pleasurable as possible. The apartment was extremely well equipped with a superb range of english satelite channels. Yes the stairs are a challenge and the apartment could possibly do with updating but we had a fabulous time and would definately book again. Totally loved the old village
We really enjoyed our stay here in March 08. We needed a relaxing break and the complex certainly gives you plenty options - 3 different pools, 3 or 4 bars and a 2 or 3 restaurants, all of good quality and different cuisines. The apartment itself is comfortable. For the self-caterer it's ideal. We particularly liked the sun terrace on the roof. Many thanks.
The property location was excellent, couldnt complain at all. The propery itself, all good too. One possible downside, the bedrooms need air con really as the fans can be noisy but it wasnt a major problem. Overall, very good!!!
Property was better than expected. Unusually all the appliances worked (unlike some previous holidays). Small touches (like games, books etc) were an added bonus. We had a 7 year old who thought the whole complex was fantastic (couldn't get him out of the pools!). The agent was superb at booking transport to and from golf courses and airport. Altogether a brilliant holiday. Only sight downside was the beds - one family member was 6ft 3ins and the small single wasn't quite big enough - but the settee was perfectly large enough to let him sleep well. I could imagine the stairs would be a problem if there were mobility problems or very young children but we managed fine. Roof terrace was a definite bonus and a superb wind-down area at the end of some very busy days. Would certainly have no problem recommending town house to family or friends. Thanks
Spacious property with very good facilities. Bedroom furnishings could do with updating and floors needed a good clean, but other than that the property was in good condition. Very good satellite TV choice. Stairs narrow and steep inside the maisonette which could be a problem for some, yet I would recommend this property to anyone. Maid changed towels and made beds every couple of days. Wonderful location within the Old Village, 100 yards from the supermarket and a few bars/restaurants and from the Village Square. 200 yards from the main pool. Overall a quiet and relaxing modern maisonette with excellent facilities. Worth a visit.
Owner reply:

During the winter 2006/2007, the bedrooms have been refurnished with everything being replaced. The house has been painted inside and out

Great location just a 10-15 minute walk to Villamora. The old villiage is quite but has excellent facilities, 3 pools, 2 resturants, one of which I would highly recomend "The Princess Garden". Staff on the site were very helpful and the place and gardens were kept very well. Sky TV was an added benifit, great to keep the kids entertained after a long day by the pool.
This property was a well maintained property within a mature and well maintained development withy all the facilities required close at hand.
