Villa overview - owner's description

Newly-upgraded, child friendly town house villa near Tavira. Shared swimming pool, air conditioning. Close to some excellent beaches, restaurants and the old town.

Our luxury property lies just on the edge of the beautiful seaside town of Tavira, a 15/20 minute walk away.

The property sits within the beautiful and exclusive "Quinta do Perogil" estate, which is a unique small development of Large Villas. The house sits near the 20m swimming pool which serves the other townhouses around it.

The house also has a very large L shaped terrace from which you can have full views over the sea and town of Tavira.

It lies on three floors with a bedroom and shower room on each floor. Each of the shower rooms has an excellent power shower and 900mm shower base. The middle floor bathroom as well as having a shower also has a full size bath.

The quality of the internal fixtures and fittings is excellent and much higher than those you would expect to see in other rental properties. This is because we also like to use the property ourselves for our main holidays.

As you can see by our rating and reviews, we pride ourselves in making sure that your stay is as easy and relaxing as possible. We provide presses full of food and drinks on your arrival which will allow you to begin your stay in comfort without having to rush to the Supermarket on your very first morning.

There is a 32" Plasma screen TV with Sky TV including BBC, ITV, SKY News, Eurosport, Channel 4 ETC...

It is very important to bring your Sky Card from home as
if you dont you will just have the standard Sky Channels, i.e BBC, ITV, Sky News etc.....

Enjoy 4 bottles of wine "on the house"
and relax in your beautiful surroundings.

The house and grounds are very safe and child friendly.
One of the main reasons why we bought this house was the fact that you can sit either outside the lounge or on the terrace and enjoy the evening sunshine. For those of you that have children, like most parents we like the idea of relaxing either on the terrace or outside the lounge and being able to keep an eye on the younger ones.

The grounds are mainly grassed areas which surround the very large pool and the pool has a shallow end and is much larger that most communal pools. If Children are using the pool it is important that you keep a close eye on them as the shallow end is still 3 deep.

there are 3 double bedrooms. They all have their own shower rooms and each has excellent power showers and the middle bathroom also has a full sized bath. All have toilets, bidets and extra large sinks.

The house has three floors and each floor has a bedroom and a shower room on it. The top floor bedroom has commanding views from 2 windows and is suitable for kids..

The house lies approx 15 minutes walk from the centre of Tavira and even though a car is not essential for our property, having one would give guests much more freedom to explore the many delightful towns, seaside and fishing villages.

Spain is only about 25 minutes by car and you can even visit Seville in a little over the hour.

There are four excellent 18 hole golf courses within a few minutes of our house, and in our property we leave instructions on each course including prices and discounts etc.

However, a major plus point for the area is the construction of a new Jack Nicklaus golf course at Monte Rei which is just down the road from us. This course should be open to play in the autumn of 2007 and will bring even more golfers to the area.

Tavira and surrounding area.
Tavira is often called one of the most picturesque towns on the Algarve, and it’s not hard to see why. The town is large enough to have everything you want and small enough to retain lots of charm.

You can explore Tavira in lots of ways, you can either hop aboard the miniature roadtrain and have a trip around town or jump into a horse drawn carriage and take a leisurely ride around. You can also take a guided walking tour of the Town. However you can walk from one side of town to the other in about 15/20 minutes, so everyone can take their own time and method.

At the centre of Tavira and on a small hill rising above the town is the castle and the landmark clock tower of Igreja da Santa Maria do Castelo. The leisure walk up to the castle is lovely and you will pass lots of quaint shops and buildings (you may even decide to sample the local beverages in one of the excellent bars that you will pass) and once at the top you will have commanding views over town and the sea.

Once in town you can choose to sit at one of the many pavement cafes and bars (my wife has a certain passion for the patisseries) and watch the world go by.

Tavira has lots of excellent restaurants and we can recommend lots either in town or in the nearby places. By and large the food is excellent and very reasonably priced.
PATIO is the most fantastic resturant in the town and if you tell Leo that your staying in our Villa he will look after you with the utmost care. The prices are incredably reasonable!

But what really makes these restaurants are that they are generally small and owner run and so you get a very warm welcome and superb service and food. Fresh seafood is in abundance and the choice is helped by most restaurants displaying today’s catch in chilled display cabinets. Meat eaters will not be forgotten however and the steaks and lamb dishes are also very good.

You can not however come to Tavira and not go on the beach, it is SUPERB. It is also very wide and miles long with lots of beach bars and activities. You can either sun bathe with lots of people around or you can walk further down the beaches to quieter areas.
If you have a car you have the freedom to visit lots of other beaches and really lovely villages and towns, some of which are Cabanas, Santa Luzia, Villa Real, Olhao, Castro Marim, Fuzeta and lots more.
Santa luzia is the best in my opinion with a small open Train ride taking 4 minutes to bring you to the beach. kids love it!!

A small note on the booking payment. If the full amount is not paid on time the booking my be cancelled if required.

We have had a great family holiday based at Quinta De Perogil. The complex is excellent with a great swimming pool and lovely garden areas with plenty of trees to provide much needed shade. Whilst there were other families enjoying the pool area it was never busy and on many occasions we enjoyed the pool to ourselves! It is a good 20 minute walk (downhill) to the centre of the town. We used the local taxis regularly to get us home! The villa is spacious and well maintained and the air conditioning was very welcome - as was the welcome pack and the four bottles of local wine!!
Tavira is a wonderful town and we enjoyed exploring during our stay. Catching the ferry to the beach was really enjoyable and once there the beach is superb with plenty of space and a good choice of restaurants and snack bars.
All in all an enjoyable holiday in a very un-spoilt part of the Algarve.

The villa was charming and clean. The area is lovely and quiet and the pool was quite refreshing. The walk into Tavira was not long and the town was just lovely to walk around. Lots of eateries and lots to see. We would definitely come back

We have been private renting for many year now and never had a very bad experience and never return to the same place twice. But we have finally found somewhere that we would love to return to automatically next year and just might do. The villa the ground and the pool were all immaculate. The town of Tavira is a very pleasant 15 minute walk and has everything that one would need. Some of the best beaches we have ever visited is only a 20 minute ferry journey to Tavira island.

Delighted that you had a great time Seamus and thanks for making the effort to write a review.
Would love to have you back sometime.

We had a week here just before Easter, Bill the owner was very helpful both before and during the stay. The property was ideal for our needs which was to have a good base near Tavira where we could relax and explore.

There are about 10 blocks on the sight with 4 apartments in each block so I could imagine that it would get very busy at peak times. Most were empty during our stay. The balconies are less secluded than you might expect and we got quite friendly with the people next to us which was fortunate.

If I had to lay any criticism it would be that the property maintenance was not top class, there were some minor things that I felt should have been sorted before we arrived. They did not detract from our enjoyment of the property, but were silly things that could have been easily sorted.

Would I come and stay here again? Yes it was a very pleasant place, quite and relaxing. Everything went smoothly and Bill the owner was a pleasure to deal with.

The property has an excellent position on a quiet avenue of villas
Pool is good and generally quiet
15 Minute walk to Tavira but local taxis are very good for the uphill return journey.
Very clean and well equiped

From Arbouet Sussaute, France Feb 2013

The property itself was very well placed and quiet.
Unfortunately we felt that it was badly let down for the want of a small amount of expediture in the kitchen equipment including cutlery utensils etc which were of a quality not fit to give to charity shop !
The bed linen, towels etc were of a similar level.
A great shame because it led to frustrations when trying to prepare a meal and could be easily be put right without a great expense.
The 5 first pages of the guide book - how to turn on the gas etc. were missing and we had to work things out for ourselves. The bedding was extremly light for the time of year and we had to call on the help of Fatima who brought us out extra bedding for the second night. She was great.Subject to correcting these deficiencies I would rate the property much higher

We stayed at this property in June 2013 and had a wonderful holiday. The house suited our needs as we were 2 adults and 4 kids. The kids shared 2 rooms and had their own bathrooms and we had our own room and en-suite. The pool was quite even though it is shared amongst several houses and we used it every second day. The balcony looked over the town and we had glorious views out to sea in the evenings. The BBQ area on the balcony was a big hit with my husband. Walking into town was at least 15 minutes and we always got a taxi home as it was a bit too far to walk after dinner. We didnt hire a car this time and had a great local taxi driver that brought us around the area but I would hire a car next time though. The Rep met us on arrival and had the fridge filled for us with food, juices and other beverages. I would certainly recommend this house and the value for money was superb. Sharon Holmes - Brighton.

Amazing villa and a wonderful welcome pack with something suitable for us all. We all felt at home as soon as we walked in. Very spacious for three generations to spend a brilliant week Couldnt have been in a more pleasant area and so convenient from the airport by car. Great places to visit in and around Tavira especially the square at night. We found it quite a walk down in the evening but so easy to get a taxi back at night. Hope to come again. Many thanks.
