Villa to rent in Olhos de Água, Algarve
Villa overview - owner's description
Villa Marcos is a homely family villa in a fantastic location; just 100m from the wide, golden sands of Olhos D'agua beach.
Villa Marcos is located in the beautiful sea-side village of Olhos D'Agua; just 150m from the golden sands of the beach. This well-designed and homely villa is situated just off from the road leading down to the heart of Olhos D'agua. Surrounding the property are many white-washed villas, but the property has an elevated position providing secluded gardens and lovely sea views.
Olhos D'Agua means the 'eyes of the water' named after the fresh water springs that bubble up beneath the water (can be seen amongst the rocks at low tide). This fishing village has become a popular holiday location but is not over crowded and still contains much charm and tradition. The main street runs down the hillside to the beach, and along the side streets you'll find many restaurants, often specialising in fresh seafood and fish. The sandy beach is still used by the local fisherman to launch their colourful boats each day but is also well-equipped to provide for the sun-worshippers, with a promenade that was completed in 2000, containing toilets and showers. There are plenty of rock pools and small coves to explore along the edges of the sandy beach. Whilst there is parking near the beach, the one-way system can become jammed in high season and walking may be far less effort.
Many of the surrounding beaches have water sports on offer throughout the summer, and there are plenty of golf courses, tennis courts and horse riding facilities found all around the Algarve. The nearest golf course is Pine Cliffs; a 9-hole course set in a pine wood at the edge of spectacular cliffs, about 3km away.
The centre of Albufeira is just 5km away; a sprawling town with plenty to see and something to suit everyone. During the day you can enjoy the sandy stretches of beach or browse the markets where local handicrafts and fresh goods are sold. In the evening, a wide variety of bars, restaurants and clubs fill the streets with people and life; locals sit on the terraces of traditional restaurants, the bars fill up with thirsty customers and all kinds of music drift across the air. You can admire the array of white yachts in the newly completed marina in the west. Alternatively, you could stroll around the Old Town and explore the maze of cobbled streets, past white-washed fishermen's houses.
Nearby attractions for those with children include;
. ZooMarine- an ocean theme park set amongst lakes and gardens with exhibitions, shows and rides to entertain the whole family. Has a large range of marine animals from sea lions and dolphins to turtles and exotic birds. About 8km away the other side of Albufeira, in Guia.
. Slide and Splash Waterpark - a huge water park with pools, Jacuzzis, slides and rapids that can keep the whole family amused for a day. There are plenty of grassy areas for relaxing and picnicking and because the grounds are so large, it doesn't get too crowded. There are Slide and Splash parks at Lagoa, 25km away, or at Quarteira, around 15km to the east.
Ground Floor:A door at the end of the large entrance hall, opens into a series of smaller, inner hallways; off from which the rooms are found.
Continuing straight ahead, the hallway passes the kitchen and first two bedrooms and opens out to the light and bright living space. To the left is a small square living room, and ahead is a large corner bar with a large shelving unit. The snug, homely sitting room has an attractive open fireplace, soft patterned rug and two large sofas. Along the side wall is a large wooden side dresser with flat screenTV. Adjoining the living room is a small conservatory, separated from the living room by a large window and doorway. This warm, glazed room has a dining table and chairs overlooking the pool; a lovely room for family meals in the late evening sun.
The kitchen is fitted with two rows of units at both base and eye level. It is well-equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer and oven/hob.
Adjacent to the conservatory and living room is the spacious master bedroom. As you enter, there is a large wardrobe with double doors ahead, in a small corridor opening to the main bedroom space. Here there is a double bed, bedside cabinets and patio doors sliding open to the sun-filled pool terrace. A doorway leads to the en-suite shower room which is tiled and fitted with a shower cubicle, toilet and washbasin.
A small inner lobby is found off from the central hallway, and there is a bedroom on either side. The first is a double bedroom with an ornate wooden-framed bed, bedside cabinets with small reading lamps and a large free-standing wardrobe. The other is similarly furnished but fitted with twin beds. Between the rooms is a tiled bathroom with full bathtub, toilet and washbasin. Here there is also a small cloakroom, and the garden also has an outdoor shower - handy for rinsing off the sand after a sand-castling session down at the beach.Outside:Patio doors open from the conservatory and master bedroom onto a large sun-drenched terrace. In the centre (one step down) is the fenced and gated private pool. The expanse of sun terrace around the poolside is lined with sunloungers and parasols for lazing in the warm sunshine. The garden is well secluded thanks to its elevated position and the surrounding thick green hedges and white walls. To the right, a staircase descends to the surprising garden room, set in a cool, shaded area beneath the pool. Here there is a barbecue, sink and dining area. This lovely, unusual feature is a great setting for long, lazy lunches and family barbecues.
Another great feature of Villa Marco's garden is the roof terrace above. A long staircase rises up alongside the villa to this sunny spot. From here, there are beautiful views across the blue Atlantic Ocean that laps the shores of the Olhos D'agua beach.
