Beautiful house with private swimming pool on 10.000m property with orchard, in the middle of the woods with garden. Private and beautiful views towards Sintra. 30 Km Lisbon, Portugal, sleeps 4.
Near to Sintra lies, in the middle of a pine tree wood and an orchard with a.o. lemon and orange trees, Quinta do Floral. The house, situated on a 10.000 sq. meters property, is comfortable and beautiful. On the property there is a luxurious private swimming pool with outside shower, surrounded by a beautiful terrace. In front of the house, literally under the grape vine, there is marble table table with marble benches, where you can have either breakfast, lunch or dinner, the latter which can be prepared on the barbecue, which is situated just around the corner of the house. The house is situated on the same site as the house of the owners, which was rented before as Villa Quinta do Floral. The reviews on this site are of the Villa, in which now the owners live. The house is private and has a beautiful view towards the mountain of Sintra. For all those who like their privacy and contact with nature, this “Quinta” is the ideal place to spend their holidays.
The village and surroundings
The house has an excellent location:
Casa Quinta do Floral is near to Mucifal and the historical village of Colares. It is ideal for those who wish to combine relaxation, cultural visits and be near to the metropolitan as well, seeing that Cascais is at 17 km (various big shopping malls), Estoril (big casino and discotheques) at 20 km, and Lisbon at 30 km.
Sintra lies very near (7 km) and is of great historical value, Lord Byron loved the place, calling it “Glorious Eden”. Sintra was declared by Unesco a world heritage site; the most typical village from the Royal family history. You can see Sintra by horse-drawn carriages which will take you around the town as well as Sintra's mountains.
You can see in the ridge of Sintra mountains historic monuments like Moorish Castle, Monastery of Capuchos, Monserrate Palace, National Palace, Pena Palace, Quinta da Regaleira, Seteais Palace, Peninha Chapel, etc;
There are also fabulous botanical gardens and parks.
The beaches Praia das Maças and Praia Grande (where every year during summer the world championship of (bodyboard) surfing is held) are at approx. 3 km. Praia das Maças has several restaurants with excellent food, cafés, bars, discotheques as well as shops selling local crafts and a swimming-pool with sea water. At approx. 2 km from the Quinta you can take the tram to go to either Praia das Maças or to Sintra in the summer months.
But of course there are always the other beaches, such as Adraga, which was nominated Europe’s most beautiful beach in 2003. Adraga can be reached via the village of Almoçageme, which deserves a mention because of its caves on the southern side, with both mountain and beach sceneries.
Other wonderful beaches are:
Azenhas do Mar, a village built on the rocks (small but wonderful), at approx. 4 km, Aguda (small and quite), Magoito (plenty of facilities), Praia da Ursa, a naturist beach near Cabo da Roca (allow a good half hour for the climb back up to your car, no facilities) and Samarra (small and quite, no facilities).
In 15 km you can find another wonderful beach "Guincho"/ Cascais where the world championship of windsurf is held.
Cabo da Roca is at approx. 17 km from the Quinta and is the most western point on the European continent, defined by the poet Camões as “where the land ends and the sea begins”. Here visitors can buy an attractive certificate showing they have been there.
At 2 Km you will find the village Colares, a demarcated wine-growing region, famous for its excellent wine, which can be tasted at “Adega Regional de Colares”.
At approx. 30 Km from Quinta do Floral lies Lisbon, where you can find great historical monuments, theatres, cinemas, the "Parque das Nações (themepark) where the Expo 98 was held, shopping areas, zoo and typical restaurants where you can taste the excellent traditional portuguese cooking, for instance in Bairro Alto, where you can also listen to the famous “Fado” which is the daily expression of the local people.
Tips and things to know
It is advisable to hire a car seeing that the property is situated so privately.
The Villa on the property is inhabited by the owners. They can help you with any questions or doubts you might have, whilst giving all the privacy you wish for.
The house has a comfortable living room and kitchen with all that is needed. It has 2 en suite bedrooms (one with bath and one with shower cabin) and a separate WC. The house is cleaned two times per week, bed linen is changed once per week.
The garden is surrounded by a fence. The orchard is cultivated by a private person, the fruits are not for consumption of the renters. Just around the corner of the house, at the back, there is a barbecue and in front of the house you can find a lovely big marble table with benches, literally under the grape vine!
The luxurious swimming pool is 11 x 5,5 meters. It is surrounded by a marble terrace with outside shower. The swimming pool can be used from April 15th until end of October.

Quinta do Floral is a nice property a on the edge of the village of Mucifal within it own 2.5 acres of land. The property has a very traditional feel to it - lots of marble and tile floors throughout.
Please be aware that for some of the year the owners live on site in a separate apartment, although they do give you privacy. This is good for local information and advice - they are very friendly and helpful. It may be an issue if you don't like dogs though. Send them a email and ask if their be around if it's of concern.
Overall a very enjoyable stay.
Really pleased with villa, resort and location. Nice and peaceful holiday with few Endland football shirts and tatoos on show. The beach is soft sand and safe for children - small harbour town and pleasant people - the accomodation is great with evrything you need at hand - we were all totally satisfied.
Nice and quiet area, with a short distance to a lot of tourist attractions. Well looked after during stay.
We thoughourly enjoyed our 4 night stay at Quinta do Floral. We came to the region primarily to visit the Estoril Moto GP and had the added bonus of experiencing true village life in Mucifal. The house was ideal for our family of five, with spacious bedrooms, beautiful large garden for the children to roam, clean swimming pool and excellent views of the valley. The house is situated in a very quiet, secluded area which is perfect for a relaxing getaway. Two houses are situated on the property with the owners living part time in the smaller of the two. The owner was very friendly and informative. As the pool is unfenced I would not recommend this accommodation for those with young children or those who can't swim.
I booked both villas for a group of 13 friends over four days, during which we had an amazing time.
From the outset, I was impressed with Susans (the managers) responsiveness even before the trip began. She helped arrange some of our activities and showed great initiative in helping me plan the trip even when my group was outside of Karon!
The rooms are very well-appointed and each has its own distinct character. The romantic decor is most appropriate to families and couples, but friends will still appreciate the charm of the setting. The villas are cosy and are designed to feel like a special home away from home. During our stay, we loved the downstairs living room in Baan Sa-moot Sa-wan and had plenty of fun on the Xbox 360. We also spent much time in the pools of both villas. The facilities are top-notch, but their maintenance can be improved. Nothing serious, but we encountered a choked drain and dirty bathtub in the outdoor bathroom. The pool in each villa was smaller than I thought, but we enjoyed them nonetheless.
We requested the chefs service on our last night and enjoyed a sumptuous meal at economical rates. It was very worth it! We left the menu to the whims of the chef, but for those who are slightly fussy, you can always specify the items you want.
The villas are very private and are located on an extremely steep hill. In fact, I believe its the steepest paved slope Ive ever encountered. We had plenty of fun running up and down the hill, but if youre unfit, it can be a challenge complete the short walk to and from the main road. Its a decent walk of about 10 to 15 minutes to the beach if you follow the main road, but your progress can be quite swift if youre thick-skinned enough to cut through Movenpick hotel! In any case, the privacy of the villas is great and accommodated a substantial fireworks party without incident.
