Car hire essential and we are happy to provide recommendations.
We were really impressed with this villa and its facilities. Spotlessly clean accommodation and swimming pool. Lovely garden and setting. All we could want in terms of catering , living and entertaining equipment in a large and airy space. We did not feel over crowded, despite our large group. Everyone enjoyed boule pitch and the massive basement / games room particularly with its new pool table.
Local manager was very helpful and attentive and sorted out a minor issue (DVD player didnt work when we arrived) with speed and without question. She was also a good source of information and advice.
You do need a hire car here, as manager says, roads have yet to be finished on the holiday estate, but we got to know and avoid most of the pot holes pretty well by the end of our stay. Villa is situated on a mini roundabout in the estate, but traffic noise was not an issue for us.A short drive from all the more noisier tourist areas, we really felt relaxed.
Olhao had a great range of markets, restaurants, take-aways and supermarkets and was only a few miles away.
Beaches and more traditional villages and towns were, of course, what was most attractive about the area. We would definitely go back to Villa Ocaso and recommend it to others.

The villa was amazing. It was very large and very clean with the local manager on hand whenever we needed. The location was very secluded and peaceful and was exactly what we were looking for: relaxation. The pool was the largest Ive seen with a private villa and we certainly made full use of the large BBQ also. You do need a car and theres plenty to do if you have one: local markets beaches and towns kept us entertained. We had a birthday over there and found Gunthers Restaurante between Olhao and Pechao which was absolutely amazing and I would recommend everyone pays this a visit. Also Marias restaurant about 15 mins walk from the villa does excellent food and wine and is very good value. There was ice creams available at the reception on the villa complex but Im not sure if its open all year round.
We had an amazing stay and we would definitely stay again!

We stayed in Villa Ocaso for two weeks in August. In our group were two families with 5 children aged 3-7. We had a fantastic holiday - children and adults alike. The villa has everything you need and is very well appointed. We experienced a few minor problems but the local rep was always very responsive and whether in hours or out of hours there was always someone to talk to,nothing was ever too much trouble.
the local village has everything you need and the beaches are fabulous. Everyone was very friendly and it was lovaly to not be among too many British tourists and feel like you could experience the real portugal (whilst at the same time only being 40 minutes drive from the water parks etc)

We felt that the villa was good value offering spacious accommodation and a wonderful large pool. Villa Ocaso was well appointed, decently furnished and had attractive and well landscaped gardens.
Described as being in " the unspoilt Algarve" it should be noted that the villa is sited on an a development where the builders concerned experienced some financial difficulties which has resulted in a number of unfinished properties nearby being left in varying states of completion. Similarly the road system is in need of some attention, however we were assured that this matter is being addressed and should hopefully be rectified in the very near future. Although potential renters should be aware of these issues they should not be deterred by hem as these properties are not visible once inside the property and should not adversely affect your stay. In contrast, neighbouring properties to the side and rear of the froperty are most attractive having been recently refurbished to a high standard. All this said, I would recommend the villa to friends it is quiet, not overlooked and is generally a marvelous place to relax and recharge there were 8 people in our party and the villa is spacious enough to accommodate us all comfortably whilst also allowing plenty of opportunity for privacy if required .
Steve and Paula the villa managers were charming and attentive throughout our stay and even went out out of their way to secure us a rental car at short notice which was greatly appreciated.
Overall you will Im sure you will be pleased with the villa.
Just one point..... DO rent a car the villa is not remote but there is quite a significant distance to travel for supermarkets etc, all the advice prior to departure advised that this was the case and we somewhat foolishly decided that we would do without, dont make the mistake as we did, you may not be so lucky!

The villa was excellent, very clean and tidy and very spacious. Air conditioning was very much needed. Hire car is essential to get to local shops, also some clean and tidy local beaches at fuseta, a must to go and visit. We arrived late evening so the food pack arranged by Paula was greatly received. We spent most of the time just relaxing at the villa and enjoying family time. Paula and Steve were just a phone call away if any problems arose, but everything was spot on. The local Bistro just a short walk from the villa was great value for money, good food and very friendly. Overall we had a great time, excellent location and villa and a big thanks to Paula and Steve, I would recommend this to anyone, Thanks.

We had a wonderful week at Villa Ocaso and everything was as we were told. The villa has everything you could possibly want and more. The local bistro, which we visited twice, was also very good both in terms of value for money and friendliness. The welcome pack was really good and enabled us to have a nice leisurely lunch on our day of arrival. You really do need a car though as walking anywhere, especially if you have young children, is not really possible. We ventured out a couple of times but mainly we stayed in the villa round the pool as the weather was really lovely. Would definitely recommend this type of holiday if you just want to relax and spend time with the family.

Villa Ocaso was a real gem! We loved every moment in this stunning villa.
It was an easy 20 minute drive from the airport, thanks to the step by step instructions, and we were delighted with the villa when we arrived! It surpassed all expectations.
Within an hour we were all swimming in the heated pool, which really WAS heated. We were visiting Portugal during Easter......and friends staying in other villas and hotels nearby did not have that same luxury. The villa manager was excellent, knew she was close by if we needed her which was important to us.
A handy five minute drive down the road was the lovely village of Moncarapacho where you had a terrific local supermarket, friendly shops for a quick coffee and a number of excellent restaurants. Maria’s the local bistro just 2-3 mins drive away is excellent.
The villa is fabulous, the games room amazing, huge living room and garden/pool area very private. The beds were firm, the bathrooms modern and the kitchen very well equipped - even plastic plates for outside and beautiful native pottery for inside.
We followed many recommendations in the villa Welcome Book. Loved loved going 10 mins down the road into Olhao to the markets in the morning...getting our fish on one side of the market, and our fresh fruits, veg and meat on the other side. The prices were amazing .... and the food was fresh and delicious. The 7 stars authentic fishing bar is a MUST where 2 beers, 1 wine, 2 sodas and a fruit juice was only 5.90 euro....the cost of one drink in Dublin! But then we would head back to the villa, hit the BBQ with all our goods, relax on the fab sunbeds and swim for the rest of the day! Heaven!
We visited the beautiful Cabanas island beach. Such fun taking the short water taxi out and back (for 1.50 euro return per adult, kids free)....and spent the day on the fantastic white sands. We also visited Tavira (which was also beautiful and had a great market when we were there) and a few of the smaller villages on the coast. One day we headed into the mountains and ate at a restaurant that was also recommended and that was such a treat!.....amazing views and great food!
Villa Ocaso was in the perfect spot. We loved the privacy of the home, not overlooked by anyone.....and we could even see the sea in the distance from the upstairs bedroom. But it was an easy drive to shop and explore so many fantastic places. We never ventured west of Faro as we had been to that area before.....and I dont think we would now....we fell in love with this area.....and all that it had to offer.....especially the villa.
Many thanks to Paula and her hard working team that looked after us so well in Villa Ocaso. We will most definitely be returning soon.
