House overview - owner's description

Welcome to our light and airy, stylish family holiday home. We're in Foz do Arelho centre with lagoon views and a short walk to the beach and all the amenities.

Whether you're a family or couples looking for a great house to get outside and explore the Silver Coast, you'll enjoy spending time and relaxing together here.
Ideal for couples or families, it's perfectly positioned to walk for a day at the un-spoilt beach, sun downers on the large garden deck and a stroll for dinner in the village.

After 15 successful years of renting out on the Algarve, it felt right to make the move to the Silver Coast & we hope you love Foz do Arelho as much as us!

The space

The well established corner garden offers plenty of space to lounge in the sun all day long, dine alfresco on the large furnished deck and make the most of the regional meat and fish.

On the ground floor is a large lounge-dining room with a pellet burner for chillier evenings and double aspect patio doors for the cool West Coast breeze on warmer days. Dive into a book, chill in front of a film or just relax on the super comfy corner couch, or catch the last rays of the day on the wrap around balcony. On this floor you'll also find a double bedroom with a king size bed and Juliette balcony and a shower room. There is of course a fully equipped kitchen, with everything you’d need for a home away from home including a dishwasher & microwave, a few recipe books for inspiration and some picnic gear for heading to the beach. We’re stocked up on basic kitchen supplies like oil, vinegar and spices, dishwasher tabs and laundry powder plus we’ll leave you some starter suppliers so you can quench your thirst as you unpack. Off from the kitchen, there’s a laundry room with a washing machine and plenty of indoor drying space, plus a rotary dryer for the garden.

Upstairs is the master bedroom, with a king-sized bed, plenty of storage and its own wrap around balcony - enjoy a moment of calm first thing in the morning overlooking the lagoon. Next door is the family bathroom with an over bath shower. Across the landing is a large bedroom with 2 single beds with a Juliette balcony and lots of wardrobe space.

During your stay

The entire villa, garden and pool are available for your private use and enjoyment. We live on site with our well behaved Portuguese rescue pup Luna in a self contained basement flat. We can oversee guest changeovers, welcome you to the villa and be on hand for any queries you may have. Access is gained via a set of double lockable gates. Gated access from the driveway is shared with the owners private and secluded courtyard area leading to the owner’s basement flat accommodation

Unique location

Your holiday home is in the centre of Foz do Arelho, with lagoon views and a 10 minute walk to the lagoon beach.

We've left you a great picnic set - complete with blanket, cool-bag and ice blocks so you can just pack up and explore.

In Foz, try your hand at the various water-sports on offer within the sheltered waters of the lagoon, scour the shoreline for seashells or find your own spot to relax on the ample white sands of the Atlantic facing beach. There’s plenty of sea facing bars and restaurants on the front, and a number of excellent restaurants in the village, along with a small supermarket.

Near-by attractions

For a change of scene, head 20 minutes north to Sao Martinho, Salir do Porto and the world class surf of Nazare. 15 minutes inland takes you to the walled medieval town of Obidos with its year round festivals, and a 10 minute drive takes you to the historic spa town of Caldas da Rainha, with plenty of shops and supermarkets. A number of golf courses are nearby.

Our family had a wonderful stay in Casa Brisa da Lagoa. The villa is very spacious - plenty of room for the 6 of us. The furnishings & decor are very tasteful and it is well equipped. We were only there for 5 days & would have loved to stay longer. The villa is within easy walking distance to mini markets, restaurants and the beach (go to the top of the hill & take the coastal walk along the boardwalk - amazing views). Beccy is a great host & very quick to respond. Would not hesitate to recommend this villa.

Tolle Ferienwohnung in toller Lage Schönes Objekt.

We had a great week's stay at this lovely house in Foz do Arelho. The house was spotlessly clean, well equipped and a good size for our family of 5 people. It was an easy 15 minute walk down to the beautiful beach with great beach cafes and seafood restaurants. The outside shower was really useful for washing the days sand away before having a quick dip in the plunge pool. The outside space was very tastefully landscaped and we enjoyed sitting on the various balconies at different times of day to catch the sun. A short 5 minute walk into town for morning pastries or late night cocktails at The Trombone Bar was also great. We would highly recommend staying here and would love to return some day.

We've had a lovely week - really enjoyed the house and the pool. Would have liked to spend the evenings outside on the deck but it has been chillier this week so we enjoyed lounging in front of the TV with some DVDs instead!

This villa is very modern and spacious with a lovely outside space and an amazing view of the lagoon. It is very well equipped with everything you need including a welcome pack of refreshments which is thoughtful. Good wifi and great large fridge and freezer. Close to some lovely restaurants and 5 minutes drive to major supermarkets. A great place to stay.

This house is a true gem. Comprising of 3 large bedrooms , 2 bathrooms, utility room, massive lounge, diner and a very well equipped kitchen with a lovely deck to sit out. Loads of space for our family - to be together and take a break!! The location of the house is second to none - literally 10 min walk from the beach , lovely little bars and restaurants and a bakery. It is non hustle and bustle but still has enough life for those looking for a “ night out “ .. The house is extremely clean and the owners thought about family accommodation with comfortable bedding, towels, toys and DVDs to amuse the little ones while the adults can enjoy a quiet glass of wine. Truly classy, comfortable, and good for active families. We went kayaking and cycling around the lagoon which is minutes from the house. I can’t recommend this place enough!

House is a lovely size, nice and clean and the welcome pack was very much appreciated after our journey. We only had a long weekend, but the weather was great so we ended up making the most of being so close to the beach and the little village centre. Everything was only a 5 or 10 minute walk and we had an amazing sunset one evening as we walked around the top end of the cliffs. Some nice places to eat - we liked the little taverna place half way along the Main Street for tapas type food. The house was nice too and well equipped, although we ended up eating out mostly. We visit Portugal often and know some areas can by very busy, but this location was lovely and quiet, especially at night. Everything was easy to find and easy to get in when we arrived and the owner was good with our questions. Hoping to book again soon!

We normally visit the Algarve, but decided for a change to holiday in the more authentic north. We were not disappointed. Foz itself has plenty of bars and places to eat. many of which frequented by the locals, so felt like we were part of the local community rather than a tourist. Being keen golfers, there are 2 courses a short drive from the house (West Cliffs and Royal Óbidos). Both are resort type courses and have excellent practice facilities and testing courses as my scorecard will confirm. Booking a tee-time on line before we left, we got a good rate compared to the more commercial courses around the Algarve. Staff were friendly and the courses in good condition. The house itself is a short walk to the beach and on the days we we too lazy to venture out we made use of the decked area to do nothing for the day but enjoy the weather. The property is spacious, homely and relaxing and the mini-markets in the village had enough to shop for fresh food instead of eating out every night of our stay. One thing to note, the north of Portugal is not as warm as the south and the evenings did get a lot chiller than we expected for the time of year we went. Some extra blankets or throws would be useful. Apart from that we had a great time. Would recommend for a long weekend and seem to be as many options into Lisbon for cheap flights as there are into the Algarve.

Had some lovely September sunshine and looking forward to coming back in the summer. Plenty of space and great to be only a 10 min walk to the beach. A beautiful villa looking forward to returning next year!

There's not many houses that give you lagoon views, a 5 minute stroll into the village and keeps the beach and the cliff top walk within a 10 minute stroll

Our house has been a labour of love - it had been unlived in for a couple of years and despite only being a few years old, was badly in need of some TLC. We spent out first few holidays knocking down concrete outhouses, filling skips with rubbish and being up to our eyeballs in to do lists. Finally, a big lick of paint later and few more plants in the garden and we're ready to share our little slice of Portugal.

Hello! We live in Hampshire in the UK, but we're passionate about Portugal and can't wait til we get to live there full time (hopefully not too far away!). Until then, we're happy to share our family home with you so that you too can discover the delights of Portugal's Silver Coast. After many years of owning, staying and renting out an apartment in the busy Algarve, we were looking for an area that was a little bit calmer and a little bit more "Portuguese". Several weekends of reviewing Google Maps, a few mad round trips up from the Algarve and on the 23rd December 2017 we sat on the seafront overlooking the lagoon and the decided Foz do Arelho was where we wanted our future to be.... We both commute to London so life is a bit frantic, so we get out to Foz every 6 weeks or so because that's where we love to be. Getting there frequently is important to us, not just because we love it, but because we're on a constant mission to keep it updated and maintained so that you love it as much as we do!
