SISTER PROPERTY TO VILLA DO MAR I, VILLA DO MAR II AND VILLA DO MAR III

This very private, cosy stone cottage located just above what is virtually a private beach for the few neighbouring properties, was beautifully converted from an old fisherman's cottage that is believed to be the first dwelling on this fajã (a flat strip of land at the foot of a cliff).

The whole cottage is open plan. The comfortable sitting area is a veritable balcony over the beach and sea and is separated from the bedroom area by two doors that open the full width of the cottage, allowing you to wake up to that breath-taking view. Further back is the modern shower room and the fully equipped kitchen that still features the original bread oven.

Outside is a very private yard with overflowing bougainvillea, which features an outdoor dining table, a portable barbecue and a couple of sunbeds under a private curtained canopy, and again benefits from that spectacular sea-view. The Cottage is secluded and very private and off the beaten track and accessed via a narrow steep driveway. Itis perched above the beach, and affords astounding views - you feel as one with the ocean.

A lovely little beach hut is located right on the rocky beach 30 metres below, and shared by the three Villas do Mar, access is via a pathway with steps that leads from the level of the Villas do Mar down to the beach.

There are many walks around Calheta and easy access to the plateau of Paul da Serra, with its many levada walks, makes this villa perfectly located for walking in Madeira and for enjoying a lovely holiday surrounded by the beautiful Madeira countryside.

Madeira

Some seven hundred kilometres west of the African coast, Madeira is a stunning mountainous emerald island, lapped by the warm waters of the Gulf Stream. The first island to be discovered by the Portuguese navigators in 1419, Madeira became an important resting place on the long trip to the new world. From these humble beginnings, the holiday trade was formed and this spectacular island, which used to be the favourite place of the rich and famous, is now the preferred choice of all sorts of visitors, from those seeking year-round warm temperatures to nature lovers and sightseers, sports and active enthusiasts of all ages. Culture, history, stunning nature, a myriad of sea and land activities, added to a great foodie scene means Madeira has something for everyone. No matter where you go on the island you are rewarded by fabulous scenery, tiny villages and friendly people. With a population of over 100,000, Funchal is not only the capital, but also the 'heart' of Madeira and home to many of the islanders. This makes it a busy, chic, cosmopolitan and fun city, full of shops, shopping centres, bars, cafés and a great variety of restaurants and entertainment; a vibrant, cosmopolitan town where historic splendour and breath-taking natural beauty combine with a thoroughly modern atmosphere.

Our Madeira was established in 2009 by Linda & Ricardo Dias. We have both worked in tourism all our lives, the great majority of which in Madeira, where we live (and where Ricardo hails from). We know how important it is to find the right holiday home for your holidays, and searching through the many websites can be exhausting, time-consuming and confusing. And of course, you want to make sure you are dealing with a dependable company.
