This beach is accessible by boat, which ferries people to and from all day long. This is a natural beach with truly unique style. Deep blue lagoons stretch throughout the 6km stretch and the 18th century Fort of Sao Joao da Barra stands guard on the sand bank at the entrance to the harbour.
Located in Cabanas de Tavira the surrounding lands of Aldeia de Forteleza are protected by a preservation order allowing this development a guarantee of privacy and seclusion.
Cabanas is quiet, yet not isolated and is bursting with an old-style character that will appeal to even the most seasoned tourist.

Cabanas is located just two miles from the beautiful town of Tavira a bustling fishing port with a variety of restaurants, roman architecture, markets, vineyards and seemingly endless beaches.
Tavira, otherwise known as The Little Venice of Portugal, in the 1500s was a port of great strategic importance. The events of that period have left an enduring mark on the layout and appearance of the city. There are more than 15 stunningly designed churches and chapels throughout the city, each with its own story to tell.
Tavira also owes its appeal to the river and its reflections, to the changing nuances of the light and the special atmosphere of a town built on the waters edge.
In Tavira the traditional crafts can all be seen including the distinctive wrought ironwork and the Portuguese tradition of lace-making.
Locally caught fresh fish, grilled on an open fire the traditional way, is an obvious choice in any of the many restaurants combined with the red wines of the region.
The Algarve is the most popular golf holiday destination in Europe. With its temperate year-round climate, it offers fabulous golf on a choice of great courses and excellent value for money.
The Benamor Golf course is just a 5-minute walk from Costa de Cabanas. This course opened in May 2000 and has proven to be very popular. The course was adapted from Henry Cottons original concept and offers some interesting challenges amid peaceful surroundings. Cork oaks, water and contoured greens feature prominently and it is well recommended.
There are two other courses nearby, Quinta Da Ria Golf Club /Quita Da Cima. Quinta Da Rai is located 6 KM east of Tavira and opened in 2001 to rave reviews. Relatively flat, the course winds through almond and olive groves and stretches down to the Ria Formosa. Stunning views and a must play for all avid golfers visiting the Algarve. Quinta Da Cima is a more challenging course,for the longer hitter. Superb fairways and greens and compares to the best on the Algarve. Highly recommended
The Monte Rei Golf Club is set in the picturesque foothills of the Eastern Algarve, with sweeping views of the Serra do Caldeirão mountains to the north and the Atlantic Ocean to the south.
The first of two Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Courses - "Monte Rei North" - will open for play in June 2007. This par 72 Championship course measuring 6567m from the Tournament tees is a truly unique design with water coming into play on eleven of the eighteen holes, the course features an enjoyable series of eight par-4s, five par-3s and five par-5s in a challenging and distinctive layout.
The course presentation is highly individual, each hole a design gem blending effortlessly into this natural canvas, from its ingenious shape and sculptured bunkers, to the impressive presentation and attention to detail making ever hole as remarkable as the next fairways and greens are bordered by several lakes, indigenous plants, native grasses and trees adding drama to the landscape, and providing golfers with unforgettable moments to cherish in this unique and tranquil golf environment.

This was our second visit to this apartment and just as enjoyable as the first time.
Joyce is really helpful when you make the initial enquiry and Maria continues the theme when she greets you on arrival and during your satay if you need some assistance.
We would certainly recommend this apartment and will return again.

Our third time at this amazing apt. Maria was waiting to greet us as always.
Joyce was very accommodating as to arriving and departure times. We made good use of roof terrace as the weather was suburb throughout the ten days. For anyone who hasn't visited this area before you're in for a treat. Plenty of good local restaurants within a short walk from the apt or make use of the bbq , there is a good butchers not far away. We will certainly be back.
The apartment is one of the best we have rented. Always spotless and with excellent facilities the wrap around terraces and roof garden mean that you can have sun or shade at all times. This was our 5th visit and we we return again.

This was our 3rd time visiting this apartment and it was as wonderful as ever. In fact I would say with the addition of walk in shower and air con in bedroom even better than before. Joyce makes the whole booking process absolutely stress free and is more than willing to help with any questions you may have. On arrival Maria welcomes you and she is very friendly and gives you all the information you need but is also on hand throughout your stay if you do run into any problems which I'm sure you wont, we never have. The apartment is spotlessly clean and has all the necessary things to make it a very comfortable stay. The absolute joy is the beautiful wrap around balcony and the roof terrace which always gets a lot of use during our stay. Built in BBQ is brilliant and that also gets a lot of use while we are there. Location wise couldnt get much better. Its literally a couple of minutes walk to the front where there are good quality restaurants, cafes, bar and shops. Also the splendid beach is reached from here, which you cross over to by a fisherman's boat which I think adds to the whole experience. Its all very low key so do not come here if you like loud music and hustle and bustle. But if you like serenity, peace and a very relaxing pace on holiday this is perfect. Cant wait to return!!
