Located in the sought after little town of Armação de Pera just a few minutes drive from Albufeira, you will be ideally placed to take full advantage of the many attractions the Algarve has to offer. Armação de Pera was once a humble fishing village and retains much of its old-world character and charm today. Mixing the quaint beauty of the old town with all the modern facilities of a developed resort, you will find everything you need to enjoy your holiday close to hand. Its proximity to the newly opened “Autodromo do Algarve” formula 1 race track means you can also take in an exhilarating ‘day at the races’ as part of your holiday. Shopping facilities are also excellent being just a 10 minute drive from the famous “Algarve Shopping” centre with its free parking and international food court, as well as the myriad of small local shops offering their local arts and crafts and artisana. Or for those that want to just work on that tan you have one of the longest and relatively uncrowded Algarve beaches, stretching some 7km, just a couple of hundred metres away from the apartment.
The apartment comprises two large double bedrooms, each equipped with 5* hotel grade luxury zip ‘n’ link beds, ensuring a peaceful and comfortable nights sleep and giving you the choice of two singles or a true superking size double in both bedrooms. Two heated bathrooms with shower and bath mean no waiting around. The cavernously large lounge, at 9m x 5m, with its sumptuous Italian leather sofas and sofabed offers a spacious and luxuriously comfortable place to sit back and relax whilst enjoying the familiar comforts of British TV on the 42” Plasma screen or whiling away the odd hour on the Playstation 2, ensuring both children and adults time to relax and enjoy their time separately or together. There is also a large solid oak dining table that can seat 6 or 8 comfortably should you have guests. The spacious and well appointed kitchen with its granite tops and all mod cons mean you wont be missing anything if you prefer staying in and preparing a home-cooked meal to going out and enjoying the many reasonably priced restaurants with their international cuisine. A long balcony stretches the length of the apartment and benefits from an integrated barbeque with chimney should you fancy dining “al fesco” or you could even wander up to the roof terrace and take in the spectacular views of the town or enjoy the sea views of the beach or sunbathe in privacy if you prefer not to be overlooked.
Armação de Pera - History
Not very long ago this town was nothing more than a collection of small shacks where the local residents from the nearby village of Pera used to maintain their fishing boats. It is quite probable that the name "Armação" is a link with the distant past of the great Tuna fishing industry that existed along the Algarve from the 15th Century and before. This later fell under the protection of a small 18th Century fort that still remains in part to this day.
Armação de Pera - Description
Nowadays, the town is mainly composed of the old town in the east and the more recently developed part of the town to the west which is mainly holiday apartments built over bars and restaurants on the ground floor. In the three summer months the town is exceptionally popular with tourists but outside the top of the season it offers a wonderful peaceful holiday location. Meanwhile, the nearby rural village of Pera remains as a reminder of the un-spoilt typical sleepy Algarve. Boasting one of the finest longest sandy beaches in the Algarve this is a popular location for tourists. On the beach close to the eastern side of the town are a number of fish restaurants that pride themselves on serving fresh fish. The spread of building from Armação de Pera has been mainly to the west with the creation of several holiday apartment complexes above the very charming beaches of Senhora da Rocha.
Places near to Armação de Pera are the market towns of Algoz, Alcantarilha, Porches and the inland historic and attractive city of Silves with its magnificent walls and castle. For the golfer, the nearest course about 5 minutes drive with many others in the vacinity. Also great for those with an interest in fishing, with some choosing to fish from the beach and others opting for premier lake fishing around an hour inland with 100lb catfishes regularly being caught.
More recently the New International race track has been constructed just 20 mins from the apartment. There are also 3 waterparks nearby, the closest is only 5 mins drive. Excellent shopping facilities can be found at the nearby "Algarve Shopping" complex about 10 minutes drive away with its free parking and international food court. There are also many small local private shops selling arts & crafts and artisana.
The choice of restaurants locally is also amazing with a wide range of exquisite tastes and international cuisine to suit all tastes. Fish is, of course, the local speciality but you can also find a great indian and chinese nearby to satisfy more familiar tastes.
For the wine lover the Alantejo region just north of the algarve is a wonderful area to explore and experience the "real" Portugal

Car hire is not necessary as the apartment is less than a 15 minute walk to a large selection of shops, bars, restaurants; however parking is available if required.
