Overview

Bill and Ewa invite you to stay at our lovely Polish house, don't take our word for how beautiful it is please check 10 years of our reviews below they say it all. We designed the house for our own use and live in it ourselves every year for a month so it is not bland and empty but comfortable and full of character. We or our Polish, English speaking father in law meet you on arrival and live two miles away and are available if needed, Some rentals have little support, everyone has commented on how nothing is too much trouble. Its good to know for example if you do need to see a doctor for some reason we can get you or your children straight there, translate and get the medication. We have our own family and understand that occasionally you need support fast.
Also our location is noted by everyone, we are rural with beautiful views but 30mins to Krakow 5 mins to Myslenice and close to access the rafts to Slovakia, the salt mines and all the main attractions in this part of Poland.
SIGHTS
There is so much to do in this part of Poland, most comment two weeks is not enough time and we have regular returning visitors to our properties from all over the world. Krakow with the largest square in Europe, its castle, the Jewish quarter are a must for a couple of days. the rafting between Poland and Slovakia is breathtaking and not dangerous, Polish mountain men in traditional clothes punt you down river for two hours between the high mountains.
The salt mine with its endless carved chambers and underground carved church and museum is everyones favourite. Zakopane with its high mountains and James Bond cable car to the summit, the restaurants mountain men and summer walking or winter skiing. Aushwitz and Berken are an hour away sobering but most agree a life changing experience to visit. the local town of Myslenice is very much a Polish town where you will not be charged tourist prices like Krakow. A top restaurant comes to roughly ten pounds a head for a good steak and a couple of pints or glasses of wine or of course polish vodka. A taxi to Myslenice is 5 pounds if you want to leave your car behind.
There is a new ski slope a mile from the house and plenty of other slopes within an hours drive, we are having more guests each winter for the ski season as the prices for passes and good ski equipment hire are fantastically low still . A great place to get your kids taught by English speaking instructors, our children learnt snowboarding and skiing at a local slope 15 minutes away at 10 pounds for one hour including instructor and hire of equipment. Please e mail us via villarenters to ask any questions about the area or house, we can arrange pretty much anything for you , bike hire, horse riding, white water rafting, mountain climbing, ski instruction etc. regards Bill

Family from Natchitoches, USA Jun 2016

Bill was very helpful and enthusiastic. We were greeted by father in law Jerzy who graciously escorted us up the road. Everyone enjoyed being out of the city yet made many trips up the good roads to Kraków. Staying where we did made for many jaunts in the country to find local points of interest.
The house was clean and bright. Sunrise comes early in the summer.
I would definitely stay again!

Family from Bamford, United Kingdom Aug 2014

Just back after our second visit and, once again, a perfect house in a great location. Krakow is about 45 minutes away and is beautiful with masses of things to see and do but dont miss out on some of the local attractions - Myslenice (lovely square and restaurants), Zarabie (great chairlift to the mountain top) and Dobczyce (castle and museum worth a visit). Bill and Jerzy could not be more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and Bill was so helpful given his local knowledge. Part of our reason for going to Poland was to try and trace our family history. We are so grateful to Jerzy for his help with this. The house is clean, spacious, light, airy and enjoys views over the surrounding mountains. It is well provided with everything we wanted and Bill was easily contactable with any queries that we had. Would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone and we look forward to another visit soon.

The house was just what the doctor ordered after a very hectic wedding schedule, at the castle in Niepolomice. The owner was kindness itself and was so helpful with the bike hire. The space was great for our needs and the location superb. Thank you again

The property is larger and more spacious than appears on the website. Great location for visiting all the tourist sites. Bill the owner was extremely helpful and gave us invaluable local info, parking, restaurants, shopping etc He was available by telephone and offered to organise horse riding etc. We had a fantastic time and would happily recommend this to anyone. .

The Retreat is a comfortable, good sized house, furnished and decorated in an attractive style. The situation is beautiful - surrounded by fields and trees with a view of the distant mountains, but at the same time bordered by other houses, and within easy reach of local restaurants. You will find here all the equipment you will need for a family of six or more. Our only very minor disappointment was the TV - very few entertaining channels to watch, and virtually nothing but the news in English. The local town of Myslenice is well worth exploring, and it is an easy days excursion to Zakopane in the Tatra mountains, or to the Wielikzka salt mines, also to Auschwitz which is an unforgettable experience. The Retreat is a very good centre for visiting so many places of interest - and good to come home to at the end of the day!

Thanks Bill. The house was just what the doctor ordered after a very hectic wedding schedule, at the castle in Niepolomice. Jerzy was kindness itself and was so helpful with the bike hire. you couldnt wish for a more relaxing place to stay with excellent views, places nearby are great value, prices for food and drink you will be hard pushed to beat, this is a beautiful home in a great country with so much to see and most nearby via a bus ride.

This is a beautiful house in a beautiful area. Its worth knowing you can eat out at the top restaurants in Myslenice and drink your fill and its hard to spend 10 pounds each for a whole night everything included. The restaurants are really special and the equivalent night in uk would cost you about 100 pounds each. Culturally everything is close, I recommend Krakow castle and the huge square, the trip down the river on a raft which takes you into slovakia and back through huge mountains. The salt mine at Wieliczka which is one of unisco's world wonders. There is so much nearby a week wasnt enough, we are coming back soon. The Poles are very very hospitable and you can normally find someone who speaks English. You will have a fantastic time.Gary Eastman Ivybridge Devon England
