The property is a very large converted barn situated near lakes & rivers, ideal for game fishing & carp fishing, there is also an 18 hole golf course close by and Biarritz beach is less than 1 hour.
Belleveu lodge is situated on a hillside in the south west of France in the department of the Pyrenees Atlantic (64).
The summer months can be very hot with temperatures often exceeding 40°C which is why a swimming pool is a must.
The swimming pool, 12 meters x 6 meters, is a salt water pool therefore there are no chlorine issues or problems.
The views can be stunning, with the ever changing Pyrenees mountains and the local fields and fauna.
The lodge (a converted barn) was built in the mid 18th century and has lots of it's original features, including large oak beams & thick stone walls that help to keep the house cool in summer but also warm in the winter.
For the winter months there is a 13kw log burning fire plus radiators in each room.
The drive to the mountain ski resorts usually takes about 1 hour, provided that the mountain roads are clear of snow, so a day out skiing is perfectly feasible and has been done so, many times already.
For all conveniences, shops, bars & restaurants the local town of Orthez is only a 5 minute drive, where there are also some lovely sites to be seen, such as le pont vieux & la tour Moncade.
