Description
Lage at Tregosa is an old farm house in a small hamlet about 1 km from the main road, in an area with green mountains and fields covered with vines, between Viana do Castelo, Barcelos and Ponte de Lima, in Northwestern Portugal and not far from Porto (2nd city in Portugal). The house is near the Neiva river which has a small river beach close to a weir.
The buildings that were formally used for agriculture have been converted to a large living room with glass windows and doors looking out onto a patio. This was formally the 'eira' where the maize was spread out on large granite stones to dry in the sun.
Accommodation
The main entrance to the house is from a 'quinteiro', the enclosed yard of the farm, where stone steps lead to the first floor with the door opening into a hall with a sitting area and a salamander stove for cooler nights in winter.
Opening off is a bedroom with a double bed which has an en-suite shower room.
Also leading off is a small bedroom with two bunk beds suitable for children or teenagers. A vestibule has two further bedrooms with double beds and a shared bathroom.
Stairs lead down to the old kitchen which has a traditional fireplace originally intended for cooking over an open fire with the sausages and hams being smoked in the large chimney. For modern living there is a barbecue which can either be used in the chimney or taken outside.
The rooms in the house retain their traditional character and three bedrooms are sharing a communal bathroom.
The kitchen also contains a 4 burner gas stove and a combined fridge freezer and a traditional table with bench seats. A door leads out onto the 'Quinteiro'
The large light living room has a dining area with a table and 12 chairs. The sitting area is at one end of the room around an open fireplace with a heat recuperator, where there is also satellite television and music centre with cd/dvd.
Outside
In front of the 'eira', in view of the living room of the house, is the large swimming pool which has water from the spring but also some treatment.
Patio doors lead out onto the 'Eira' and the swimming pool.
The size of the swimming pool is 11 meters by 6 meters and the depth is from 1 meter to 2 meters.
Location
Although the house is in a group with other properties in the hamlet, it has uninterrupted views over the 7 hectares of agricultural land that is part of this small farm. Five hectares of this land are vineyards whose grapes go for the production of the famous wine of the region, Vinho Verde.
The house is not ready to welcome wheelchairs, or other equipment for handicapped people. Bare in mind, it's an old farm house, recovered for rural tourism. Pets are allowed in the Quinta, because they can stay outside. Upon request a baby bed, can be ready to welcome a baby with the family.
