This is a lovely town to have so close by with architecture that dates back to the Etruscan and Roman eras and breathtaking views of the Val d'Orcia valley.
The hot baths in San Casciano Dei Bagni are the most well-known.
You may enjoy the warm therapeutic waters at both locations, whether you spend a day in luxury at Fonteverde Spa or take a dip in the Bagno Grande, a well-preserved historic bath close to the town.
There are other towns in the area that you can explore, like Radicofani, which is 20 km away and is well-known for its impressive stronghold.
A 20-kilometre drive away is Cittá della Pieve, where you can sample Umbrian and Tuscan cuisine and view Perugino's paintings.
In contrast, Pienza, a beautiful hilltop town, is 45 kilometres distant, and you might be sitting and enjoying Montepulciano red wine in less than an hour.
You could even travel 100 km (90 min) to Siena, which is definitely worth the trip.

Amidst the Val d’Orcia and Val di Chiana in the rolling hills of Tuscany, the villa is ideally situated for a relaxing break.
Here you can spend time exploring the countryside and the pretty hilltop villages surrounding the home.
With walking trails, cycle routes and horse riding available nearby, there are plenty of opportunities to get out into the fresh air and sunshine.
Before purchasing a bottle or two for dinner, you can also enjoy walking around one of the many vineyards and discovering how the region’s wine is produced.
Many local wineries offer tours, tastings and even lunch.
When you wish to pick up some groceries or pop out for a bite to eat, the closest town is under 5km away.
San Casciano Dei Bagni has charming shops and eateries and is a lovely place to spend the afternoon wandering around the historic streets and buildings.
Make sure to see the Church of St Anthony, the medieval walls and gates and of course the views!
Tourists know this town, so you will be able to try some authentic Tuscan cuisine, such as the Pici pasta, in little family-run restaurants.
Also in San Casciano Dei are the various thermal baths that the area is renowned for.

This area of Tuscany is filled with gorgeous hilltop towns where time seems to stand still, and many of these are within easy reach by car.
Cetona is one of these, 17km from the villa and recognised as one of Italy’s most beautiful towns.
The mountain on which the town is set is known for its archaeological finds, and evidence of human settlement over 40,000 years ago has been discovered here.
You can see some artefacts in the prehistory museum or visit the archaeological park.
The pretty 16th-century piazza is also a relaxing place to sit with a coffee.
Cittá della Pieve is 20km away, this unique brick-built town is on the border of Tuscany and Umbria, and many visits to see the paintings of the artist Perugino.
You can book on to tours to see these artworks plus more paintings and monuments.
If you don’t have time for this, visit the Oratory of Bianchi, where you can see a large Perugino painting.
The cathedral is also stunning.
If you stop for lunch, this is a great spot for trying local olive oil, truffles and cured meats.
Another brilliant place to visit for a day trip is Lago Bolsena which is 56km away from the villa and Europe’s largest volcanic lake.
Whether you wish to swim in the clear waters, unwind on the lake beaches, go fishing or even go on a boat trip, there are lots to do here.
Picture-perfect Montepulciano can be reached in under an hour.
The town is renowned for its famous vino Nobile red wine, with several wineries offering tours and tastings. So if you're a wine fan, there's no better place to be!
The incredible city of Siena is 100km from the villa and takes around 90 minutes to drive to.
Head out early to make the most of the day as there is plenty to keep you busy, though the city is small enough to walk around easily.
Climb the top of the 800-year-old Torre del Mangia for unrivalled panoramic views of the city and surrounding hills.
The Palazzo Publico and the Duomo are also unmissable when visiting Siena.
