The charming market in Alençon, a mediaeval town known for its lace-making traditions, is best visited on a Thursday or Saturday morning.
Long walks in the nearby woods can be taken, as well as canoeing along the Sarthe River, horseback riding through the Perche Regional Natural Park, and cycling across the Parc Naturel Régional de Normandie-Marne.
Another fantastic day trip is to visit Le Mans, a stunning city known for its 24-hour classic car race in mid-June and its mediaeval area and cathedral.
