The property is located nearby the village of Tsikalaria which sits at the foot of the mountain ‘Malaxa.’ This is an extremely traditional village that still uses the blossom of sour orange trees to produce rose water. The quaint village is charming to simply wander around and boasts plenty of sights to see. Many festivals and celebrations take place in the village, including The St. Antoine festival, The St. John festival and the rosewater festival that takes place during the springtime.
The Byzantine church of Panagia in the village is a beautiful piece of architecture worth seeing. In the centre of the village lies a Turkish mosque as well as the village’s central spring water fountain. The mosque was previously a church dedicated to St. Nicolas and is also home to a Turkish coffee shop. The church of St. Antoine is another great attraction which features a newly renovated bell tower.
Kalamaki is a quiet nearby beach famous for being a mecca for turtles. It’s common to see baby turtles hatch and then crawl into the sea on this beach. As well as watching the turtles go by, visitors to Kalamaki can rent a sun lounger and parasol for the day and enjoy the dazzling sunshine. There is also a local taverna situated nearby where authentic Greek dishes can be enjoyed.
