This is by far the best guest house I've ever stayed in! Its not just the beautiful layout of the apartment, or the lovely surroundings and neighbourhood, or even the proximity to a wonderful beach. No, the best part is Ms. Skeete. She made sure that we were well catered for from our arrival at the airport to our departure. She made it literally feel like a home away from home. I believe that I would adopt her as my mum the next time i go there

Hibiscus Apartment - Sungold House

Jan is an amazing host, my vacation in Barbados felt more like I was visiting family. Jan goes over and beyond to make sure your stay is comfortable and enjoyable; she is attentive, and intuitive for all of your needs. My apartment was very clean, decorative, and comfortable.

We stayed here as a couple back in January and were completely overwhelmed with the friendliness and help from the owners, Jan and Gary. We hired the one bedroom apartment, which was a perfect size, spacious and well appointed, and on arrival from England, were met with a chicken dinner and beers in the fridge! The following day we we were invited to a poolside barbecue (it was a bank holiday), so met lots of new fac s and had a great time. We were left to be as independent as we liked but Jan was always there if needed. The location was great, being a 3 minute walk from the bus stop, five minutes to the beach and only ten to Speightstown. Whenever it's cold and miserable in London I just close my eyes and think of the the two weeks we spent at Sungold House - instant sunshine!!

From before we even left the UK we knew that our booking was a fantastic one, just from the emails passed between Jan and myself. Jan always very quickly responded to emails in an efficient and often humorous way - which is exactly how I like emails to be! Jan arranged for us to be met at the airport, on this occassion her husband Gary was able to collect us. This gave us the most enjoyable journey to the house, with Gary and my husband chatting like old friends. Gary pointed out places of interest and also took a detour to show us the local town and how to get to the beach from the property. When we arrived at the property, Jan was there to great us with a welcome drink of some local Banks beer. We all had a drink together and a good chat and a laugh. We felt really very welcome. Jan showed us the apartment and where everything was etc., there is no doubt that lots of thought had gone into planning and designing the property. Lots of space and all really well done. During our stay we saw all 3 apartments and can honestly say we would be very happy to stay in any of them. All 3 have been really well designed with lots of space being a key issue. The pool area is lovely too, with tables and chairs plus sun loungers. There is also a washing line which was really useful. The day after we arrived Jan needed to go to the local cash and carry type supermarket. Jan and her daughter Krystal took my husband and I plus one of the other guests with them. Even the journey there was great fun with Jan giving us lots of information about the area and the cost of things and what to watch our for when paying for things. All really useful stuff. The shopping we did was brilliant and set us up for the whole 2 weeks, as we do like to cook for ourselves every evening. We were really grateful to Jan for taking us with her and giving us the opportunity to buy en-mass and not having to carry it. The are also some good supermarkets in the local town which we also used for the odd things. The bed was really comfortable, the shower great, and the ceiling fans made a huge difference. We didn't use the aircon in the bedroom very much, but when we did we were very grateful for it. We also did not use the TV, but it was great to see it all there plus a radio/CD player. The wifi was excellent and an amazing speed. If it dropped, which was very rare, it was only for very short moments. The kitchen was very well equipped, the fridge and freezer were large and very efficient. We tended to put tap water in the fridge and enjoyed it always chilled. We enjoyed the local...

Ginger Lily Apartment - Sungold House

Where to start. Janlyn and Gary are fantastic people and a pleasure to talk to and rent from. Janlyn is a bit of a comic too. They went out of their way to accommodate us. The house is a short walk from a great beach. The beach itself was sparsely populated, perhaps 15 people within 50 yards of us, and the water was what you would expect in Barbados. The house is comfortable and roomy and there is a small pool too. We will likely return here.
