About

Dirk and Sylvia Dear guest, We were looking for the real Spain. No high-rise buildings, no overcrowded stands, but peace, the sun and the landscape. Living among the Spaniards is what we found in Casa El Olivo. When we arrive at our villa, all stress disappears and the enjoyment can begin. Dirk and Sylvia

El Olivo didn't disappoint, tranquillity, panoramic views, super walks. The accommodation perfect for us, with every conceivable living aid. The local shops in Periana, Vinuela and Puento don Manuel all we needed on our seven week stay, bonus was the Saturday flea market in Alcaucin. Bazaar Lilli just off the A402 if using that route to Vinuela a proper Aladdin's cave. Special thanks to the local contact Caroline Semple who kindly left essential welcoming supplies and responded so promptly and helpfully to any requests or help we sought. What a beautiful area of Andalusia, missing it already.

Outstanding Villa Just the most wonderful villa surrounded by stunning mountains and nature. If you love peace and tranquility you will adore it here. The Villa was spotlessly clean. Kitchen is amazing - home from home with absolutely everything you could wish for. Pool ( fantastic ) and all terraces have the most wonderful views. Particularly enjoyed the Juliet balcony out from the bedroom we used. Area is beautiful for exploring white villages etc. Had superb meal at Hotel La Viñuela. We did large first shop at Eroski supermarket at Valez Malaga then stocked up at little local supermarkets. Bbq was excellent at the Villa. Owner very swift to answer any questions. We will definitely go back at some stage the rest was unbelievable.

We arrived at the villa in the early hrs of the morning, so was dark and we couldn't see the surrounding area, we quickly sorted a few bits and went to bed..... waking a few hrs later bought fabulous views, the sound of bells on the goats that roam the mountains, it was wonderful. The villa itself is great, clean , comfortable, facilities are excellent there is everything you need , Bbq, ice machine ! Pool , dishwasher, washing machine. There is so much wildlife around the villa, birds, lizards, deer and we saw an iberien lynx !!! It's a beautiful and relaxing place to spend time.

The villa was perfect for us - complete isolation, amazing views and high quality facilities. It is the best equipped villa we have ever stayed at - the utensils and facilities are high specification. We felt incredibly relaxed at the villa.

The location was fantastic, it was truly beautiful, peaceful and quiet. All the rooms were spacious and the pool was great. A good selection of books to read and DVD'S were avaialble in many langues. The local area and shops and restaurants offered great food and value. Now to the bits we felt could have been improved upon. I) NO B-B-Q in garden - this the first villa we have stayed in without this facility. (i know not listed but still missed) The beds could have better quality mattresses (not just the ones that go on top, and the airon in bedrooms could have been more efficient. Clear instructions how to use the tv sat dvd could have been provided as we never found english speaking television, and a lot of trail and error was needed to get the thing working (but watching only some world cup matches wasn't a disaster). I would also would have liked to have found a guest book so we could have looked at places to eat or visit others experiences have found useful, a week is not a long time so anything that helps is very useful, (again a book like this we usually find everywhere). We did not hear from the owner either before during or after our holiday to say thank you or wish us well, we did not see anything of his local management person (although we had his number should we need any help) again a quick hello "is everything ok?) type visit would have been nice. Having worked and managed in service industries all my life i can say that a friendly welcome and a "thank you" to my customers goes a long way, and was sadly missed. Would we return? for the location peace and quiet, and fantastic value for money the area offers on balance we think we would, and i hope the owner could put a few simple things that cost very little, to make an very good holiday great!

The location of the villa was amazing with stunning views. We had asked to arrive early, which was confirmed, but the villa wasn't ready for us, so we left our cases and went out for lunch and do some shopping. We were disappointed with the overall cleaning of the villa, as the villa wasn't thoroughly cleaned, although upstairs the cleaning wasn't too bad. There was dust and cobwebs around the edges of the flooring one bathroom bin had an old sweet stuck inside and was crawling with ants, so I soaked and cleaned this myself. The general cleanliness downstairs was poor, my daughter cleaned the bath before she used it and there were cobwebs on the stairs, as well as dust and dead insects on the wall by the stairs! We couldn't use the upstairs shower, as the water was dribbling out of the shower head, so the 4 of us used the downstairs shower. The terrace furniture looked greasy and dirty on the arms and the table on the poolside had cigarette butts dotted around and underneath it. The gravel around the pool wasn't ideal and had a number of weeds growing through it. It is such a shame because it is a lovely villa in a beautiful location, but the cleanliness was poor and it looks like it needs a bit of TLC!

We have just returned from a week staying at El Olivo and have had the most amazing time. The villa and views were stunning - more beautiful than the photos can show. The villa was very well equipped and suited our family needs. There is a local bakery and a couple of small convenience stores locally and a Lidl and large supermarket / shopping centre a little further away. We found a nice restaurant in Torre Del Mar and visited other local towns and villages - Comares is particularly beautiful with fantastic views across the region. We also had a good day at Aquavelis, a local water park. Sitting on the terrace, relaxing with a glass of wine, looking out on the stunning views was a real treat, listening to the goat''s bells from further down the valley. A great holiday, would thoroughly recommend.

A nice villa in a nice area. Access not too bad given the location of the villa. Good overall facilities but garden parasols need renewing. Only slight down side was the noisey local dogs morning and evening

We had a fabulous time at this villa. We did not expect it to be as good as it sounded on the listing but it turned out to be better. Communication with the owner before arrival was fantastic, the clickstay staff were so helpful and once there Tony was brilliant! Alcaucín is a beautiful little town the meal we had there was amazing and we also found local kayaking, quad bikes, shooting and go carts so lots of fun for the men/teenagers combined with the quiet and secluded location of the villa itself where the only noise comes from the local sheep! El ingenio shopping centre has lots of fab shops and the eroski supermarket within has everything you could possibly need. The villa itself was lovely with everything we needed, there was even enough food to rustle up a pasta meal for us all when we arrived late at night and starving, thanks to the previous renters. My only concern was the stairs with a very curious 23 month old. We loved our stay and hope to book again soon.
