The Villa is well located, rather easy to find, and with stunning views.  The Garden and the infinity swimming pool are also really private and secluded, so it is a great place to relax.  There are also many activities nearby, including opportunities for "extreme sports" in the El Chorro area. We stayed there for a week with 2 couples and 2 young adults (total of 6 people).  

However, when arriving at the property, we were rather disappointed, as the villa was "REALLY RUSTIC", with poor quality furniture and really cheap materials in the kitchen (the cutlery and crockery was of the type you get for free when you fuel your car in a BP-petrol station).  There were also not enough towels to spend a week at the pool (there was 1 medium-sized and 1 really small one per person), and the need to bring 6 beach towels from Mexico city to Andalucía wasnt exactly part of what we had expected.  The Villa was also much smaller than what we expected from the photos, there is enough space for 4 people, but with 6 it felt really crowded.

So in short, a great place, a nice area, stunning views, a nice pool, but the owner should really spend more money on materials and the outfitting of the villa, to avoid a feeling that it is done "on the cheap" to maximize profits for him rather than maximize the holiday experience for the people paying.

<p>Where do I start, probably with the directions. We were sent along a road that has been closed for 2 years to our knowledge, longer we were told by a local. So after many detours we eventually found the place. Having had a knee replacement early this year we were keen to book somewhere that would be suitable to my limitations and as the website said that this place was wheelchair suitable we assumed that there would not be too many stairs. How wrong we were. To get to the apartment we had to go into the restaurant, through one of the dinning areas and up a flight of uneven, twisting stairs with no handrail. The apartment itself was OK, a bit tried but we would have made do. When we asked where our private swimming pool was we were lead back down the (uneven) stairs, through the restaurant, down more stairs, across a road, through a garden and up yet another flight of stairs to a splash pool, which was not in the cleanest of conditions, I would not have wanted to use this pool in this condition. We had booked for a one week stay, we left after 20 mins. On returning home the owners having said that they would look at it</p>

Very nice villa in a very nice location, views over the valley were stunning and the local area was very pretty (El Chorro and Ardales lakes being only a short drive away.) The villa is quite secluded so a car is necessary to reach the villa as well as getting around. The pool is a good size and the house has all of the facilities you would expect. The master bedroom and the front room also have air conditioning which was nice on the hot nights. There wasnt much communication from the villa owner, when we arrived on site we had no instructions on how to collect the key, although this was soon resolved with a quick phone call to the owner, who was friendly and helpful. We were then greeted and welcomed by the same person we spoke to on the phone a few hours later, letting us know about all the nearby amenities. This was the only time we saw the owner in our stay, some people may not like this lack of contact but many people may like the privacy we were given and that we were just allowed to get on with our holiday without being checked up on every 10 minutes. I would recommend the villa to any group of people looking to get away and to spend some time in the Andalucían countryside. The area is very secluded and about 45 minutes drive to the Costa Del Sol, however if you are more interested in seeing more of the real Spain this villa is for you.

“My husband and I have been visiting the Finca for years. This was our fifth visit. The stunning setting, the privacy, peace and quiet lead to total relaxation, almost instantly as you walk drive up the hill to your villa. We’ve stayed in a few of them - this time it was Manzanilla suggesting a tipple for our holiday drink. This is the sort of place I fear telling people about as we want to keep it all to ourselves 

The villas themselves are rustic and roomy. Don’t expect 5 star facilities - some things are slightly ramshackle but these things become insignificant in the whole picture of the wonderful holiday. The pools and gardens are well maintained with BBQ area - all well thought out so nobody is over looked. The nearby restaurant and bar are very handy too with a great vista, also you can get wifi here too.

Nearest large supermercado is in Alora - a very authentic Andalucian town where you can stock up with everything that you need to hermit yourself away in this total getaway. You will have a great time. But I don’t want it to get too busy as we will be back!”

Being more accustomed to mainly coastline holidays and typical holiday resort locations, we considered it to be a bit of a risk to choose an inland location. However, we need not have been concerned as this place was absolutely perfect and provided us with everything that we could wish for.

Firstly the villa, which was extremely private and not in any way overlooked by other villas on the Finca. The facilities, furnishings, accommodation, private pool, were exactly what we wanted and gave us the choice of staying put and lounging in the brilliant weather or using our rented car to visit some of the close-by attractions.

We spent 11 days in the villa and spent our time soaking up the sun and on alternative days driving to places of interest. The close-by scenery attractions were at times breathtaking and unique. 

While driving to further away places might not be of interest to everyone, we managed to get to see Seville, Granada and the areas of Toremolinas and Mijas, all within a comfortable driving distance from Rocabella.

The area around the Finca is very beautiful. The damn at El Chorro creates a dramatic James Bond villain setting at the bottom of the quite awesome El Chorro Gorge. National Parks surround this area and you can pootle around the winding roads discovering new little places to drive/walk to. 

Beyond the gorge is a set of reservoir/lakes near Ardales with a few restaurants dotted around. All good little walks - nothing too strenuous or you could take it more seriously if you have the rights shoes, which I dont. Its very well placed for visiting the rest of Andalucia - over the years weve had day trips driving across hills and plains to Seville, Cordoba, Jerez, Cadiz, Tarifa, Grenada... all manageable

Charming place, hidden in the gardens. A few rural villas with different occupancy, so you can find a compatible place to stay with your family or group of friends. Very good place to stay for the lazy holiday, or to take a nice walking trips around El Chorro Natural Park. 

There is also a nice restaurant nearby, with local dishes and a perfect view, so you don’t have to cook if you do not want to.

The villa itself had its own garden, including a very well designed pond, with frogs and fish and a great selec tion of flora. There was a couple of days where the weather was overcast and with some rain but this was in no way a damper on the beauty of the place. In fact it was refreshing possibly because of the greenery of the shrubs and plants which surrounded the villa.

The owner of the villa and also the Rocabella restaurant and indeed the waiter who happened to be on duty every time we visited the restaurant were extremely pleasant and helpful throughout our stay
