This is a gorgeous and characterful house that comfortably housed our group of 15 friends during our week's stay. The huge pool and surrounding area were great for such a big group and even though the area is quiet and extremely "untourist-y", we found that there was enough to do to keep us occupied. Maddie's Taverna down the hill does excellent food for ridiculously reasonable prices and Maddie herself is lovely. There are convenience stores within walking distance for essentials and the big supermarket is a short drive away, along with a number of good beaches. George was very present and helpful during our stay. There are very few things we feel could be improved, but it would be great if there were more lights outdoors as the dining area becomes very dark at night which makes eating difficult. The hobs on the ovens were extremely slow to heat up but this is a very minor issue. Additionally, the plumbing system doesn't support toilet paper which means it can't be flushed and has to be put in bins. With large groups staying in the house, this was an inconvenience and discomfort but perhaps the fault of the Cretan waste systems rather than of this individual property. Overall, we loved our stay at the house and would return!

A spacious villa with a generous sized pool in an authentic Cretan village. Great base for a relaxing holiday with good access to beaches, Chania Old Harbour, gorges and the South coast. Excellent service from very friendly lady looking after property; lots of advice on local facilities and more. Kefalas is a lovely village with a few mini markets and tavernas within walking distance. Less than one hour from Chania airport. Would highly recommend Villa Elizabeth for a fantastic holiday on a truly beautiful island.

We had a wonderful holiday - the villa is lovely, has its own character, with beautiful views from the top terraces and plenty of space for our family of five.  The pool is an absolute treat, a very generous size and cleaned regularly to keep it well maintained.  We felt welcome in the village which has a couple of well stocked shops and friendly tavernas.  There are many villages to visit, natural and historic sites to see, coastlines to explore and views to be enjoyed all within an easy drive of Kefalas.  If it's too hot to do very much in the daytime then the villa is a very comfortable and cool place to relax, especially with the fabulous pool to jump into every now and again.  You can venture out early morning (alas not in our case with teenagers), or late afternoon / early evening to avoid the height of the heat as shops and tavernas generally stay open late.

Marie is very friendly and has good tips for exploring the local area.  We didn't have any problems at all with the accommodation but I think if anything had cropped up she would have been very quick to respond.  All I can add really is that this is an excellent villa, in a lovely part of the world and am very happy to recommend and give it five stars.

We had a lovely time at the villa. The photographs didn't do it justice. It was perfect for us. Plenty of space inside if you needed some privacy and plenty of space outside to enjoy playing in the sun or shade. Wonderful views from the roof terraces. The pool was fantastic. The best we have had in many years of travel. Very private and peaceful setting. Marie looked after us very well and Milanos kept the pool in perfect condition. Kefalas was a very nice village with nice places to eat. Good food all around the area. The fish taverna at Octopus Bay was particularly good. The local supermarket and shop had a great variety of goods. The villagers were very friendly and helpful. A great place for a relaxing and very enjoyable holiday.

The owner (George) of Villa Filitsa took great measures to ensure that we had a pleasant stay, which we did. The area is stunning, we did find it a little hard to find in the dark but mainly because we had a basic map, but when we arrived at the village George was waiting to guide us in and explain how everything worked.

The village has two mini markets, a play area and quite a few tavernas and is very friendly and has good signage. There are beautiful views of the White Mountains.

The villa was well equipped and comfortable, the only downside for us going at the end of October was that the pool wasnt  heated which of course wouldnt be a problem during the summer months. My children didnt mind though and had great fun in it.

There is tourist information in Vamos and a few beaches a little further on.

We had the best holiday at this wonderful, unique Villa. It is very spacious, cool and attractive with some great features, the pool was fabulous. We loved the village which is very unspoilt with a fantastic restaurant and some great Tavernas.The villagers are really friendly and we were there for a festival weekend which was really nice.  The surrounding area is great and there is a lovely beach resort at Georgeopoli and a fab fresh water lake 20 mins away. A car is essential and driving not for the faint-hearted.
Marie and George were really helpful and couldnt  do enough to help out.
I could wax all night about all the great things about this place, however I think the best review is to say we have just booked again for next year and we never usually go to the same place twice!!!
We are a family of five with 2 teenagers and an 8 year old all of whom loved it.
