After many web searches and heaps of review reading, we decided to brave it and book Baan Luxor. If you are like us, nervous about booking a private villa.. Dont be. From the moment we arrived at the airport with Jans welcome sign we were in heaven.  When we arrived at the Villa we were like 2 kids at Christmas.. The Villa was gorgeous!! We walked in, our mouths open - lots of oohs and Aarhus, and Jan said go up and look at the master bedroom. Wow.. Gorgeous room with balcony overlooking pool and private spa in corner... Totally private.  We had the best two weeks at Baan Luxor, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.  Jan &amp; Kye were adorable.. They were there if we needed them for anything...whilst at the same time leaving us alone to our privacy.  Baan Luxor is 4 Villas, designed so that one is not looking at the other... Total privacy. the pool is shared but it is not a problem or intrusion on you pleasure. The whole experience of staying at BL was wonderful.  We are a couple in our 50s, we like our comforts, and we like our privacy.. Baan Luxor delivered on all our needs and expectations.   If you are reading this review, and are looking for an alternative to the rules, restrictions and expenses attached to a resort - book BL you will not be disappointed.  We were paying 300 baht to go into Chaweng, easy - you just walk down the drive and flag a taxi. Some of the reviews mention difficulty with taxis we did not find this to be the case... Jan is also available when ever you need to drive you.  Wonderful... Just do it!!

We cannot speak highly enough of Baan Luxor and
of the hospitality and service supplied by Jan during
our recent family holiday (2 parents, 1 grandparent
and 1 year old baby). The accommodation was
absolutely beautiful - it even exceeded our
expectations which were already high given what
wed seen on the internet, and the value for money
was excellent. The facilities in the house, the
stunning surrounds, the gorgeous salt water pool
were all just perfect. Jan went out of his way at all
times to make sure we had everything we needed.
We even had a scare with our baby having a
severely high fever and Jan took us straight to the
hospital. Jan also provided a cot for our little one
so we didnt have to bring a portacot. All the rooms
upstairs are airconditioned and were lovely and
light. Cleaning was done regularly and very
thorough. Only thing that would have topped it off
would have been airconditioning downstairs. We
definitely plan to stay there again and have
recommended it to all our friends and family.

What can I say? It was a totally amazing, fantastic and awesome trip. The villa was beautiful and just walking in fills one with a sense of calm.
The Villa itself was clean, beautiful and had everything that one might need for a good holiday. The service by Jan was excellent. He was very friendly and was more than willing to help us during our stay there, whether we needed transport or information about the island.

I would HIGHLY recommand anyone to stay at Baan Luxor! It is simply BEAUTIFUL!

We went to Baan Luxor for 22 nights in Jan/Feb 2011 and the place were ideal for us as a family with 3 kids (7, 2, 1 year). The whole house was very cozy, tidy and nicely decorated. The kitchen was all fine and we stayed home some evenings and cooked and baked on our own. Great sound on the surround system to the TV. We had some mini-ants in the kitchen, but with an insect-spray they were kept away. Yan helped us with whatever we asked for and they were not in the way at all during the stay. Nice and calm area away from the noisy beachroads. The house were cleaned 2-3 times a week and that was OK for us. He did the cleaning properly. The road to the house was unfortunately damaged due to heavy rain in Nov-Jan so std taxi drivers didn´t always want to drive all the way to the house. One did learn to only take big taxi after a week. The weather was not as great as it should have been during this period, but it worked for us. Yan has two cats that live around the house. The children loved these nice cats. If we go back some day we will truelly consider to go back to stay at Baan Luxor. Thank´s Yan with personnell for a great vacation.

Well what can i say about "baan luxor", WOW WOW WOW!!. We loved this place, the setting is beautiful and so peaceful. The villa itself is so tastefully decorated and the size of each room is more than enough.We were so glad we chose this villa as the location was ideal easily accessible to all areas. the owners Jan and Kai were so helpful and totally went out of their way to make this an enjoyable stay for us, they are both very very nice people and couldnt do enough for us.This villa is the best of both worlds, if your looking for peace and tranquilty, but your also looking for something a little bit more up beat, then look no further this has it all. I cant express enough that the location of this villa is ideal. We had a 9 and 17 year old with us and they loved it.I just want to thank Jan and Kai for making our holiday totally unforgettable and making us feel so welcome to their little taste of Egyptian paradise , we are denfinately going back and would have no problem recommending this villa. If your thinking twice about it then dont , it has it all and then some. Thanks again with love caroline xx

Highly recommended - fabulous villa with everything you could need for a great holiday. We spent two weeks here with our children (10 and 7) and felt like Baan Luxor was our home away from home. Yan was very helpful and I highly recommend his tour of the island. We used his services for lifts to the beach, dinner, supermarket etc. Pool is gorgeous. A special find at a good price! Cant wait to go back!

Excellent value for money! Couldnt have asked for the better villa in a better location. Only 5 mins from Chaweng and Bophut yet in a quiet location so its lovely and peaceful. Yan and his partner as extremely helpful with anything you might need. There was 6 of us in the villa and its plenty big enough. The pool area is very clean and tidy and gets the sun all day. Cannot recommend this villa enough it is perfect for groups of friends and also a family too I imagine. Mopeds recommended as there is a tesco a short ride away but take care on them!! We were lucky enough to spend over 7 weeks in Samui at Baan Luxor - and we feel we definitly lucked out with this choice (after lots of looking!). Yan and everyone there was very helpful in every way, from explaining hidden sights/activities on the island to lending us his blender and an old cell phone for our entire stay. The sort of help and friendliness that makes you relize you are not in a resort, more of a smaller, quiet, relaxing place - an Oasis for sure. We had a 2yr old and 9 month old and every one was great with the kids (Crib was supplied). The villa itself was great, new and maintained to the max (inc. the pool). We have no regrets at all about not being on the beachfront, from here you are about 10-15 minutes from several very different beaches so you learn which one suits your preference. Yes, you need to rent a vehicle of some kind but its cheap! The villa was not perfect for kids, not enough storage/shelves above kid height, not enough hooks and the stairs were long, tiled and steep but theses small things, after 7 weeks, are the only things we could think of to improve - pretty minor concerns!

A group of 6 of us stayed in Baan Luxor for 2 weeks. It is a very well furnished and maintained villa in close proximity to Chaweng and Bophut. The service from Jan and staff was superb and we were never left feeling neglected. The rooms are great (the master bedroom even more so) and the Egyptian themed pool and grounds are great for relaxing. Thank you Jan and all for a great stay at Baan Luxor! - Alex, Melbourne Aus

We recently stayed at Baan Luxor as a group of 6 and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
The on-site manager was incredibly helpful and responsive (we highly recommend taking him up on his offered service of a day tour around the island. Very affordable and great fun, with stops at some really lovely out of the way places).
The villa itself is very comfortable and well appointed. Its a little out of the way, but this does not pose any great inconvenience.
Would happily stay there again - very friendly, comfortable and relaxing. Thankyou for a great couple of weeks and for going out of your way to make us happy! - Anonymous, Melbourne, Australia

Very tranquil with private surrounds, yet so central to the chaweng beach and the island&#039s ringroad &#045 perfect for business trip or a family getaway. Having the landlord on site to meet your every need was also a luxury....just like a home away from home, but with many of the benefits of staying in a hotel. Thank you for your hospitality Jan. The house is magnificent, very spacious and beautifully decorated. The private outside jacuzzi is astonishing. The swimming pool is shared with 3 other houses but we never saw anyone else and it was all very private. The location is great as we ended up discovering all of Koh Samui rather than staying in one place. The owner was fabulous and very helpful arranging anything and in providing useful tips where to go. All in all this accomodation topped a 5 star hotel for us and I would thoroughhly recommend it to anyone. 	Floor Christie

12/11/07 Myself and friends spent my 30th Birthday residing at Baan Luxor, the apartment very modern an luxurious, perfectly exquisite. Jan pampered to our every need and made our stay there even more pleasurable. We were never to far away from local amenities and I can safely say i would defiantly come here again for a little piece of Egyptian paradise in Thailand!! You feel home as soon as you check in. Not to mention the cleanliness and the fully equipped rooms. Arrangements were made for us to rent a car which is really a must to get around Koh Samui. We found the privacy of the Villa&#039;s and the lovely swimming pool add a nice calm and relaxing atmosphere to an enchanting place to spend our holidays. Great care has been taken in the design and layout of the Villas&#039; not to mention the exotic landscape gardens both inside and outside . As a family we highly recommend Baan Luxor and we look forward to spending more holidays there ! By the way the pricing is so much more reasonable then staying at a hotel plus you get a fully equipped kitchen so you can enjoy home cooking as well ! A happy visitor to Koh Samui !
