I can not praise Villa Tranquility enough, it truly is an unbelievable property. The property is so well equipped, lots of our friends stayed in central Kalkan and complained about not having enough of everything for their party size, this was not a problem at Tranquility. You can see how well loved it is by the owners. Each room is beautiful and the villa manager Rudi is on hand with any problems- not that we had any! The pool area is downstairs from the main living area so it was perfect when people wanted to chill out a little upstairs. There is a very handy fridge and freezer on the pool level though. We actually held our wedding at the villa and it made the perfect venue. John - the owner was so helpful with recommendations both nearby and in Islamar. The villa is a short drive from the town - about 10/15 mins, the cost of a taxi is around £9 to town. Thank you John so much for sharing your beautiful property with us, any guests who stay here are very lucky!

We very much enjoyed our three weeks at Villa Tranquility. The property is lovely and the pool is just perfect. A special thank you to John, the owner. He is the most responsive and kind owner. Thanks John and hope to be back next year.

When it comes to relaxing in luxury you need look nowhere else. 500m above Kalkan in the traditional village of Islamlar, along a private track, nestled behind a high wall, amongst sprawling tiered gardens and fruit trees, sits Villa Tranquillity. The slice of paradise you've been looking for. We arrived late at night. So late in fact the Swiss neighbours who generally assist arrivals were tucked up in bed. That wasn't a problem for John, the owner, who had arranged for the key to be left safely elsewhere and for the house to be ready for us. This is testament to his fantastic communication both before, during, and after our stay. How did we get there from Dalaman you ask? Through a local firm recommended by John himself. Seemless, great service, dropped off at the door. Easy. We were tired so headed straight to bed. There was plenty choice from the 6 well equipped bedrooms, all en-suite aside from those on the lower ground floor although there is a separate wet room and toilet down there too. That's handy, it's next to the pool. The next morning we properly have the place the once over. And let me tell you, this place is a palace. A big one. It has everything you could possibly need. The kitchen is fully stocked, it has enough plates, glasses, and other cutlery to serve the Titanic, and the fridge and freezer are big enough for everything you could possibly need. There is also another fridge down next to the pool. We enjoyed cooking meals inside on an evening as well as eating out locally at Bodamya Tepe (200m up the road) given the service and food was outstanding. The breakfasts there from Hassan and the team are unbelievable, both in taste and value. Much cheaper than down in Kalkan town. When we weren't cooking we were exploring. I would recommend a car. We had one for 4 days and it gave us the freedom to go everywhere. After that we used taxis, which aren't cheap, so a car is a necessity of you want to see things for yourself and not rely on others. Plus, it's a good 20 minute walk down the hill to the nearest shop and it's a killer coming back up. I preferred to walk up to the village shop, 15 brisk sweaty minutes, take a break and have a cuppa with the locals (5 tl for 2 cups. 25p!!!! Bargain), go to the shop there, and stroll back down. Aside from the kitchen the villa has it all. 3 twin bedrooms, 2 double bedrooms and a master bedroom. The bedrooms on the second and third floor have balconies and the first.floor, where the living space and kitchen are, have a wrap around one which was beautiful to sit out on a night. High above Kalkan you have amazing views down the valley and nearby walks to the hill give you a clean view straight down to patara. Breathtaking, it really was. One of the main draws of the villa is of course the pool area. It's fresh water fed, from the mountains I believe, so it can be a little on the cool side. You get used to that after a couple minutes and given we were there in October, 25 degrees, I imagine in summer when it's 35 plus, it won't be an issue for anyone. Indeed, it will be a blessing. The pool space is amazing. It's 15m long, it's got all the loungers and umbrellas and tables you could want as well as a second outside dining space (first being the one on the first floor balcony) covered in a pagoda of vines and leaves. It's a real sun trap and so relaxing during the day. The house is also furnished well, traditionally, with a Turkish, Arabic, Asian feel. A lot of effort has gone into this place and you can tell it's been loved by the owners from day one. I do not have enough superlatives for Villa Tranquillity. When the wife says she's never seen me so relaxed on a holiday, we must have hot the jackpot. We certainly did with this beautiful, special, place. ❤️

This was our third visit to Villa Tranquillity and it is still an amazing place. The villa has had a few improvements this year which really finish it off as an amazing place to stay. In particular we liked the fridge down near the pool area and the table tennis. There is a lot to explore in the local unspoilt area of Islamlar and there is always the bright lights of Kalkan if you want a bit more buzz.

The villa was exactly as described on the website. Fabulous. Outstanding quality, lovely furnishing with personal touches all around and a fantastic view. Totally private, and thankfully cooler than Kalkan by 3 or 4° C due to its elevation. We had a disabled person staying with us and found the ground floor perfect, as it was level with the car parking area, has a bedroom and large shower room with room for a chair. There were a couple of steps down to the pool, but these would easily be overcome with a small ramp if a wheel chair is essential. The large pool provided ideal therapy for him. We used the property to have a holiday with my family the first week and my wifes family the second week. The owner was very helpful and always concerned that we would enjoy our stay. Access to Kalkan is a 10 minute drive down the hill and there are loads of local restaurants nearby, in an around Islamar all very friendly and accommodating. The closest restaurant (Bodamya) happily delivered food (sometimes we collected) without charge. It was very cheap and saved a lot of fuss with the barbeque. Our best day out was to Saklikent Gorge. Dont miss it and be sure to go early. We left at 8 am and arrived by 8:45 with nobody else there. Had the gorge entirely to ourselves for the full inward journey (1 1/2 hrs). By the time we left hundreds of folk were making their way in. Turn up after 11 am and youre guaranteed a lot of waiting due to the narrowness of the gorge and thereby oneway traffic. Take a waterproof camera as its very likely to get wet (water was chest deep in places) and make sure to collect a guide. Lunch locally and finish off with a tube ride down the river.

My husband and I my best friend and her husband all stayed at the Villa Tranquillity in the last week in June 2012….. Firstly one week was definitely not long enough at this magnificent place!! We arrived just as the sun was setting so we got to appreciate the amazing views as we pulled into the gated villa we all looked on from the Garden over the infinity pool down into the pretty bay of Kalkan and its twinkling lights. The Villa is set back into the Taurus Mountains and it was incredibly peaceful and tranquil……. It really was Heaven on Earth. The Property itself was breath taking and done to an extremely high standard and had some really beautiful Turkish authentic pieces you automatically felt like you were in a 5* Boutique Hotel. It was luxurious, clean, spacious, comfortable and everything you dream of and more. It sleeps 12 (5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms). Rooms on the front of the villa all have balconies (and not just little ones!!) and also there are patios with lovely areas to eat outside and a comfy seating area to take in the views and relax with a Efes or 2!! Also by the pool there is a lovely dining area set under the grape vines where we had a few BBQ’s and relaxed taking in the surroundings… we really enjoyed this. The booking process was very easy and straightforward and when we arrived we were greeted by a friendly neighbour who showed us round and how to use all the appliances etc. She was also very helpful at recommending what we could do with our week’s stay at the villa and surrounding areas. There was lots of things we all wanted to do but a week just wasn’t long enough as we really wanted to stay and appreciate the villa some days. We did however go to Saklikent to the gorge walk which takes about 45mins each way but it really is worth it to get to the fresh waterfall at the end, Its hard going but lots of fun and I managed it at 25 weeks pregnant. So would recommend this for adventurous people. At the end we stopped at one of the cafes by the water for Turkish coffee and Pancakes which is definite a must do. Another definite must do is Patara Beach – this is a nature reserve so its unspoilt by hotels being built around it and commercial shops, food places, bars etc. This was our favourite beach. Kalkan centre is very pretty with its winding cobble streets lined with traditional Turkish shops and few touristy bits inbetween there is lots of nice bags and jewellery for the ladies!! We ate out 3 nights and for great food with excellent service we recommend ‘Aubergines’ a little more expensive than some of the other restaurants but worth every penny. We will hopefullly be booking for next year too :) we really cant say enough good things about this wonderful place.

We are 10 adults who have taken self-catering holidays together for 5 years. Our requirement is to stay in a top-of-the-range villa that has a minimum of 5 bathrooms. We usually go to a different country each year but, such was the quality of Villa Tranquility, that we are looking to return. One wants for nothing in this property - it is eqipped as if it is a permamnet reseidence and it really is excellent value.
