We stayed in this beautiful spacious villa from 1-8 April 2017, 6 adults & 4 children and were delighted that it was perfect for our stay. The children loved the huge pool & the very pretty garden. it was possible to walk to the beach but when very hot took a tuktuk to the main beach where you can swim with the turtles who are twice daily near the reef. Ise, who managed the house on behalf of the owner, attended to anything we wished sorted, going out of his way to keep us happy, many thanks! Two points to constructively help – (1) there was a shortage of small plates, bowls & large bowls etc, & a few other matters to sort out in the kitchen & scullery. there should be sufficient for 10 people. (2)While we appreciated our comments re no hot water in the scullery being taken seriously, it is not a good idea to try to rectify these matters while the guests are staying there – Good luck to the next guests who shall not have this problem! In fact we would highly recommend this Luxury Villa to all who are planning to visit Hikkaduwa!

Every single review about this place is true. We had a fantastic stay in this villa. We arranged for collection from the airport - Chat was there to greet us and would stop for a break whenever we needed. Lal cooked for us nearly every night and was fantastic, he accommodated for all of our tastes and his Sri Lankan curries and dahl were truly amazing! (don't hesitate to book Lal, he really is worth it!) We only went out for dinner twice during our stay because we had two birthdays in our group and enjoyed Lal's cooking so much, we preferred to stay in and have a few drinks on the porch together. We spent most of our time in the pool which is great to have; it is private, not overlooked, clean and perfect size for a group. The villa was cleaned every few days and all of the staff were friendly, cheerful and helpful. We indulged in a great deal of water and beer during the week and Lal was always so kind as to pop to the shop for us and buy another crate to replenish our stocks! He also baked a magnificent cake for my husbands birthday...he is good at keeping a secret! We had the most amazing week and are so grateful to everyone, including Prasad who ensured everything was perfect for us. P.S- there are towels there so you don't need to bring your own! Take lots of mosquito spray and some citronella coils to burn. Enjoy!!!!

The studio was very spacious and the terrace was very good to enjoy the jungle in front and the paddy and a nice place to have breakfast and to relax. Close to the beach, to shops and restaurants but in a quiet area. The people who rent us the studio was nice and responsive to our needs, they even make us a surprise by installing Christmas lights on the terrace on Christmas eve .

This was a lovely, large villa - very clean and well kept. The pool and garden were particularly lovely. Its within walking distance of Hikkaduwa (plenty of restaurants, shops etc) but it is also incredibly easy (and cheap) to take a tuk tuk there and back. Lal cooked breakfast and dinner for us each day - hes a brilliant cook who created wonderful meals for us. He would cook whatever we wanted but was also very good at suggesting local foods to try and at every meal, there was a range of dishes. Chanaka (the owner) was very welcoming, he was able to organise a range of trips for us (very reasonably priced) as well as our onward transport to other parts of Sri Lanka. He speaks excellent English. Our driver was Janaka - he took us on several trips from the villa as well as driving us onto Nuwara Eliya and Kandy. Over the days he drove for us we were impressed with his excellent driving and calm manner. Having stayed in numerous villas across the world, this has to be one of the best.

We were 2 families who stayed in the villa. Overall it was great accommodation, Lal the cook and Chat our guide were brilliant at looking after us. the only problems we encountered was that the tv did not work and a smaller replacement was bought in which after a while was faulty. This was a minor problem on the days we just wanted to relax as we had young kids. the location and the house itself was great. there was a minor problems with mosquitos getting in as one of the upstairs bathrooms had an opening that could not be sealed leading to 1 bathroom having a lot of mossies after dark. All in all though the villa was great and I would recommend it to anyone

As a party of 8 adults, the property proved to be spacious and a lovely destination for us. The property is very well looked after and the gardens quiet, full of birds and the occasional monkey. Every room and sitting area was very comfortable. Lal, the cook was absolutely the highlight of our stay, with his knowledge of food and the superb Sri Lankan breakfasts every morning, we all decided we would take him back home if we could. His evening meals were delightful and extremely tasty. We will all be cooking Sri Lankan food at home from now on. Thanks to Lal !!! He should do a mini cookbook for guests. Hikkaduwa is a pleasant beach resort with various beaches available to you. Totally recommended and we will be back!!!!

We have just come back from 14 nights spent at Hikkavilla in Hikkaduwa. We are a family of 6 and found it extremely relaxing and comfortable, in fact it felt just like home. We were firstly picked up at Colombo airport up by “Chat” a very friendly and knowledgeable guide who very quickly became our children’s favourite person and a good friend to us!! The drive to Hikkaduwa was very comfortable and quick in his air-conditioned van on the new highway from the airport to the south of the island. After checking in we met “Lal” our cook and housekeeper for the stay. During our stay Lal made us an amazing array of meals from traditional Sri Lankan dishes to more Western dishes for our children. He would discuss the meals we needed throughout the day and go shopping for the ingredients. He kept a very good tally of funds needed for our meals and we found we ate out very rarely as his food was much tastier and more value for money. Lal is a very quiet man who liked to please us and listened and watched what we liked. If we picked out onion in a dish, he noticed and would not put it in the next time!! He made us packed lunches for a day trips consisting of very tasty Sri Lankan style pancakes with banana, coconut and chocolate inside. On coming home we have all missed Lal and his cooking!! Chat, the local guide who comes with the house is a world of knowledge about his beloved Sri Lanka. He took us on some amazing day trips such as the Maduwa River Safari, Turtle Farm and Hatchery, Elpitiya Waterfall just to name a few. Other days we were happy to explore ourselves the City of Galle by train from Hikkaduwa and also Hikkaduwa itself. Chat is not overbearing at all and is extremely honest and explains everything about costs up front. Chat would also “pop in” to the villa most days to make sure we were ok. Chat has become a great friend to us and we have kept in contact and will see him when we come back to Hikkaduwa, which we plan to often as its such a lovely part of Sri Lanka. Our stay at Hikkavilla was made even better by being able to swim and relax in the private pool everyday. The gardens and pool are well maintained and are an asset to the villa. The Villa is situated in a very lovely part of Hikkaduwa. It is quiet with lovely green surrounds and friendly local neighbours. It is easy to walk to most parts of Hikkaduwa from the villa otherwise it is very cheap and easy to get a Tuk Tuk driver to take you to town or further. We have no hesitation in recommending Hikkavilla to families or groups that want to stay in Hikkaduwa. Chanaker, the owner is a very friendly and honest person who provides a gorgeous villa and staff to look after you.
