Our party of 8 adults and 4 children (aged 4-10) stayed at the property in August 2018 and we had a really fantastic time. We enjoyed the beautiful garden and excellent pool and the house was comfortable and very well equipped. The walk into the picturesque village of Barbentane where there is a small supermarket, bar and cafe took around 20 minutes but the boulangerie is about 10 minutes walk although it is along a busy road. A car is need for trips to the larger shops. Patrick and Gigi are wonderful hosts, always helpful and close at hand if needed. We thoroughly recommend it.

We stayed in the house in the first week of July and had a great time. Pat and Gigi live on the same property (slightly behind the main house) and were very helpful and friendly, whilst being completely unobstrusive. They were really welcoming on the first day and gave us a tour of the house. Pat's English is also very good, which helped a lot. A really lovely couple! The house is really nice with a very large private garden and an excellent, deep swimming pool with a nice covered sunbed area beside it. There are plenty of sun loungers, a fanastic out-door eating area/gazebo and a great barbeque. Inside, the house is very nice with all the kitchen stuff you could possibly want. The kitchen has 2 fridges which is good for larger groups. The living room is the highlight of the house with a high-end pool table, piano, electric keyboard, TV area and dining table and couches. There are two main bathrooms plus a smaller third one and everythying is in good working order. The one thing that would have made the house perfect at this time of year is aircon (hence only 4 stars for facilities), but I appreciate an old-fashioned property like this could not have that fitted easily. As it was, the heat was a major issue and we ended up leaving all bedroom doors open all night with fans running in every room. If we had stayed two weeks perhaps we would have acclimatized better. The reason why I would not give the property 5 stars (together with the aircon) is because when we booked it, it was listed as having 6 bedrooms. However subsequently this was clarified and updated to 5 bedrooms plus a mezzanine. This meant two of our party had to sleep in the mezzanine, which we specifically wanted to avoid, and which meant they had zero privacy for the week and which meant the living room was off-limits to the rest of the party while they were in bed. For many groups, this may not be an issue at all but for us it was definately a problem, hence we deduct one star. The other thing to note is that 2 of the bedrooms are adjoining, so really only suitable for parents (in one of the rooms), plus one-two small children in the other. This is not necessarily a negative, just something to keep in mind. The surrounding area is lovely. There is a nice walk behind the village which affords lovely views of the valley. There is also a nice running route around the back of the village (4 mile circuit). The insects are noisy during the day but not a problem at night. The local village is a handy 10 minute walk and has a few decent establishments, including a nice bakery but the 3 pizza services in the town are somewhat strange (very slow - 1.5 hours for 5 pizzas, refuse to make more than 5 pizzas!, and ran out of ingredients). The two bars also seem to keep strange opening times. There is a smallish supermarket within 5 mins drive or 15 mins walk and 2 larger ones about 20 mins drive away. Keep in mind, this is not a tourist hotspot so most locals will not speak English (some of our party had decent French). Within 15-20 mins is Avignon which is well worth a visit and a tour on the train. We also drove about 40 mins to kayak down a river under the Pont-du-Gard which for most of us was the highlight of the holiday so highly recommended.

A very good sized property for our party of 10. It was clean, with enough kitchen items, plates, glasses and chairs, loungers etc for us all. It is a very comfortable place and Patrick and Gigi are lovely and made us feel very welcome in their house, which is not new but should anything need attending to, they are on hand, and whilst they stayed on site they are in no way interfering. The garden and pool are great and very well maintained. There is enough room for the children to let off steam, though it was very hot when we were there so no one was running around very much and the pool is great for cooling down. The house itself is situated on the outskirts of a village, which you can walk to but it is down a fairly busy road and it does not have footpaths all the way. The bakery and bars are very good and welcoming. This is an excellent situation for exploring the surrounding area and we will have to return to continue our exploration. Overall, a fantastic holiday that meets a lot of different needs and requirements and will most certainly have something for everyone.

We were an extended family party with 8 adults and 3 children and 1 baby. We had a great time during our week in May 2015. The facilities were excellent - enough bathrooms, plenty of household items (like chairs, kitchenware, even highchairs and a baby bath!) for so many people. The property was well kept and very clean, which meant that it didn't matter that it wasn't new. It felt like a comfortable home! The garden was also immaculately kept, with room for the kids to play and a fantastic outdoor eating area (with curtains if it's windy (which it was on several days), and electricity if you want to plug anything in), where we ate every night except the last. The swimming pool was also a fantastic addition, as it was warm enough to swim in, and a good size for actually swimming. The only thing I would say is that one double room is on the mezzanine, and is open to the lounge/dining area. As such we didn't use this as a bedroom as it would be noisy if people were in the lounge talking or playing pool, although the room contained a double bed. The area is also fantastic - within a half hour drive of so many things, we didn't have the chance to go to half the places we wanted to! We will have to return sometime to finish seeing the area! The owners were also very friendly, and quick to reply to any questions we had by email.

We booked this holiday at the last minute and were not disappointed - the property was very clean and matched the description. The pool was excellent and the retractable roof was a real benefit - it kept the water temperature up overnight and so there was no problem with early-morning dips. Patrick and Gigi were always available if we needed them and provided us with whatever help we needed with a pleasant smile. The property is plenty big enough for two families with enough space to eat both indoors and outdoors. As for the location, the local town has a couple of restaurants and St. Remy (20 minutes) and Les Baux (30 minutes) are close by and have a wide selec tion of good and reasonable places to eat. A car is needed to make the most of the area. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable stay in a tremendous part of France.

8 of us decided to cycle the south of France, and used this great place as our base. The house and surroundings were just fantastic. Clean and very well presented, not to mention the great hosts. I would recommend this place for families and groups. Should we we back in the area again, I would book this place without hesitation.

A good sized property which comfortably housed our large group of 9 adults and 6 kids (ages 2-5). Pat and Gigi were excellent and very kind hosts who went out of their way to help us settle in. The best feature of this propery is its garden, very large and nicely laid out. We were able to let the kids run free, confidient that they were safe. The pool is enclosed with a retractable glass roof, which we kept closed while the kids were in the garden. The property is well equiped with rustic furniture. The main town is a few mins walk and has a couple of bakeries, a small shop and a fruit & veg shop. The nearest supermarket is close to the TGV station. Id definitely recommend the property and would stay there again if we come back to the region.

le Colombier - Cambalala is a lovely, spacious house with a huge garden and a large pool. We were a group of 6 adults and 3 teenage children (ages 10 to 82!) and the house was perfect for our two week stay in August 2010. The owners Patrick and Gigi live onsite and were fantastic to us during our stay. They were available if we needed them and invisible otherwise. The kitchen is very well stocked with lots of crockery, a large fridge, a fridge-freezer with a separate deep-freeze in the hallway. The open plan living area has a table that seats about 16, comfy couches with a tv area at one end. The pool table and football table were great distractions if it was too hot outside or for friendly competition late in the evening. The bedrooms are well furnished and all have freestanding fans for the warm nights. We ate all of our meals outside in the garden where there is a choice of eating areas in shade or under the sun. The BBQ is full size and there was a ready supply of firewood. Theres also space in the garden to relax in the hammock or read a book in a quiet corner. The pool is very large and entered by way of a ladder rather than steps. There is a new automatic roof cover on the pool which Patrick rolls back every morning and evening. This makes the pool very safe overnight and Patrick made sure the pool was clean for us every day. There are plenty of sunloungers and a separate shower poolside. The house is very near the village. A short walk takes you to a choice of bakeries, fruit and veg shops and two pubs. There is a supermarket with petrol station within a five minute drive of the house. We took a number of trips to Avignon, Chateauneuf-du-pape, St. Remy and Tarascon all within easy reach of the house. Partick and Gigi gave us suggestions and directions to nearby markets and events during our stay. They made our stay in their house really special and we found a shared love of music. The house and surrounding areas had something of interest for both the young and old members of our group. We really enjoyed our stay in Barbentane and plan to return there very soon.
