NEW All seasons same price... First come first served. Christmas, Easter & Half Terms.

Every season has its advantages at Lovlia.... Each season is more defined than the UK... We have recorded temperatures from plus 30 degrees in the Summer t minus 30 in the Winter... !! Come to Lovlia to Slow down get away from it all and have some old fashioned family time.

Summer ... During the Summer the water is warm enough to swim in the lake... or perhaps take a trip to to the small local beach .. just 5 mins by car from the house... Fish Mackerel in the Fjord and have a BBQ on one of the 100s of small islands. Dont believe the myth that Norway is cold 365 days a year! We often get far better Summers than the UK!

Autumn... the colours of the trees ... and the mist over the lake offer great opportunities for photography and painting... Or perhaps berry picking ... Blueberries and cranberries grow wild .. in the forest behind the house. Or if you know what you are doing ... there are wild mushrooms galore...

Winter.. the landscape changes ... snow is usual from mid November... and in December the lakeis usually frozen. This offers great oppertunities for x country skiing... skating.. Ice fishing... or just walking in the snow... There are walks from house....

Spring... the ice is melting... a wonderful time to visit Norway... Especially around the 17th of May... a colourful time on the National Day...

General Info on Lovlia...

This holiday accomodation has fabulous views overlooking the lake. In the lake during the right seasons you can fish for trout perch... and even the occassional salmon... There are nets that can be put out.. and an area where you can BBQ your catch. The lake is ideal for swimming too...

Wildlife. You will see an abundance of wildlife. Depending on the season...There is a resident family of beavers... which if you are lucky you can see... Plus an elk (moose) walk can be arranged... into the local forests. We have a GPS you are welcome to borrow. Bird life too is in abundance... from water birds to birds of prey. There have been reports too of the occasional wolf in the area!

The property has its own rowing boat and fishing nets...which you will have free access to.

There is also a small boat with 5 HP engine that can be hired separately. On the sea. See extras. (During the winter the fjord usually freezes) It is often possible to walk on the sea ice.. and fish.

CHRISTMAS... Lovlia... is available over the Christmas and New Year. Although the house is not situated at a very high altitude... In a usual year there will be snow from mid November up until mid March. During January the lake freezes... and depending on conditions it is possible to walk and skate... and take a spark... (chair on skiis) or x crountry ski... There will be a 95% chance of a white Christmas ... although of course this cannot be guaranteed. Lovlia is ideally situated to take a day trip up to the local ski centre... at Gautefall which is about 90 Kms away... and can be reached in about 90 minutes. There are local sledging hills... and Risør is a quiet but pretty place to visit in the Winter.

Lovlia is a place to relax in during the winter... Infront of the cozy log fire... or on the balcony infont of the open fire with a hot chocolate...

Lovlia is ideally situated. It is within a short drive of Oslo Torp... with 10 mins of the salt water fjords of southern Norway and is a few metres from a large lake.

The area is in a farming community... where the main commodity is logging. You are free to roam ... where you like... and there are walks directly from the house.

Risor and the surrounding area...
From its sunny coastline to inland mountain plateaus, pine forests and spectacular fjords, its no wonder that Southern Norway is the Norwegians choice for a holiday destination.

With summer temperatures often reaching the 30s newcomers are suprised at how different this region can be from their expectations. It isnt just about snow and mountains (though you can still find them in abundance - it is Norway after all!) there are sandy beaches, quiet country walks, family entertainment, exciting adventures - Southern Norway has something for everyone.

It is easy to fall in love with Risør. This white town on the Skagerrak is the melting pot of Sørlandet. Outer Risør has the magnificent archipelago and romantic Sørland houses which stand shoulder to shoulder around the beautiful harbour. Everything goes on inside Risør.

Street life is more continental than Norwegian. There is activity all around and things are constantly going on like the Chambermusic Festival, the Arts and Crafts Festival and the International Woodenboat Festival.

Risør is also known for its galleries, three of them are open all year round. During the summer comes at least three more, which is quite good considering that Risør town has only 7.000 inhabitants.

Lovlia is owned and managed by a UK couple and will help as much as possible to make your stay in Norway as pleasant as possible ... Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions regarding Lovlia or your holiday in Norway...

We look forward to your enquiry and subsequent Booking... !

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lovlia. The apartment is beautiful, extemely well equipped and very comfortable. The view is outstanding even on a rainy day! The hosts cannot do enough for you. We were able to phone for directions when we got lost and my husband had the use of Tonys boat on the lake which he enjoyed. A 10 minute drive from the pretty town of Risor and every corner you turn is yet another lake. A wonderful place and wonderful people - would love to see it both in the summer and when its completely covered in snow in the winter. Will definitely go back sometime.

A beautiful apartment, thoughtfully furnished and decorated. Very well equipped, especially to entertain children when the weather is poor. Excellent hosts who are extremely helpful , welcoming and generous. Great location by lakeside with loads of lovely walks and scenery within the immediate surroundings. Fantastically quiet. Great for relaxation. A fishing and stalking paradise ( my husband did this with a camera instead of the usual gun!)

A well laid out apartment. With four adults in our party, it's large L shaped lounge/eating area and a room with internet access, enabled us to all find personnal space when we required it. The wood burner meant that we kept warm and cosy at all times. The owner Tony was very pleasant and could not do enough for us. Views from the lounge over the lake are stunning. We would certainly consider another holiday here in the future.

A very warm welcome, lovely accommodation, friendly and helpful hosts, amazing views and a really enjoyable holiday. We really appreciated finding the basics (teabags, coffee, sugar, etc) already supplied, along with plently of wood and kindling for the stove. The hosts have really covered all the fine detail to ensure the property is a home from home. Really enjoyed the beautiful scenery and great fishing nearby. THANK YOU!

The property is everything that was mentioned and more. The 'more' comes from the hospitality and we would like to extend a big thank you to Tony and Lisa for all the help they gave us from coming out to help us at 2am in the morning to being there whenever we needed assistance. Norway is a fantastic country and I would recommend staying at the apartment for the views alone! Thanks once again and see you in the summer!

We thoroghly enjoyed our stay at Lovlia Lakeside Apartment. Our hosts made us feel very welcome. These scenery was specticular and we found many things to do and to keep our children entertained in a friendly, outdoor environment.
Location of the property is wonderful.Everything was the same like at the description.Host of the property gave us many tips about the area and its attractions.I would love to be back there again!
The property was excellent, we visited while it was minus 24 at night with deep snow and it was absolutely beautiful and very warm inside! The wood burning stove was so efficient, the kitchen was superbly kitted out and it was so quiet and peaceful. It was just what we wanted, needing rest, relaxation and it was enchanting.
Just returned from a fantastic winter holiday with 2 teenagers at Lovlia. The apartment is equiped with everything you could possibly need, cosy and warm even in the coldest of weather, (-20 some nights!) Well situated for skiing, skating, sledging and icefishing and exploring southern Norway. 15 mins from Risor with restaurants and shops and close to large supermarket. A lovely drive from a very family friendly ski resort - Gautefall. Owners extremely helpful and genuine, would highly recommend this apartment to everyone.
lovely place to stay english couple could not help anoth would say that beter not to fly to oslo as four hrs away plenty to do even if the waether turns
we had a very good time.tony and lisa were very helpful and caring.we had our 88 year father with us too .he had travelled from dallas to see norway. he was very happy too.
We have just returned from a weeks winter holiday at this lovely apartment. The apartment is superbly equipped. It is warm and homely, and always cosy. The setting is stunning, and I have never had a more peaceful and relaxing holiday. We had a wonderful time playing in the 18 inches of snow on the lake and in the surrounding hills. We did loads of sledging in the hills, borrowing the sledges and spark thoughtfully provided. It really was the Winter Wonderland that we had hoped for. The hosts, Tony and Lisa, were always helpful, but unobtrusive. We really hope to return one day, in the summer, to see this beautiful area in its summer splendour. Thank you for a wonderful week.
The property is well equipped with everything you could need and is situated in a beautiful location with fantastic views from the window.Tony the owner is on hand with lots of help and advice if you need him but he never intrudes. All in all we had a fantastic week at Lovlia and would recommend it to anyone and we will definitely return.
We welcomed in the New Year 2009 at Lake Lovlia and will never forget it. Wood burning fire, bbq and the stars to entertain us whilst sitting on the balcony listening to nothing but peace and tranquility. Lake lovlia apt caters for everything and more. The owners Tony and Lisa could not do enough for us and go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Tony took us ice skating on the lake and showed us many walks. We will be back again and again.... A truly special place to be...Thankyou
Løvlia is a superb base for adventure or simply to relax. Walking and fishing – and swimming for the brave – are the most obvious, but there’s much more. The sheer scale of the Norwegian countryside gives a sense of wilderness that’s not readily found in the UK: for example I was enjoying the solitude of a nearby lake only to be joined by an elk coming down to drink. Perhaps most relaxing, however, was simply sitting on the balcony of the cottage watching the changing complexion of the light over the lake and the trees. Overall, Løvlia offers a great introduction to the Norway and Tony will go out of his way to help you make the best of your stay. I’d thoroughly recommend it for families, couples or singles: it’s a great spot!
Beautifull apartment in stunning surroundings with loads to do. We couldnt have been better looked after by Tony and Lisa, who made our honeymoon so relaxing and helped us with anything we needed but also gave us plenty of privacy. There isnt a single thing I would change, the perfect holiday!
Tony and Lisa are exemplary hosts- very helpful and accommodating, but never intrusive. The apartment was well appointed, spacious and comfortable, and the views and location were stunning. We particularly appreciated the use of the boats and fishing tackle, and Tony's enthusiastic knowledge of the area. This is an ideal property for those seeking tranquility and a wilderness experience or as a base for touring. We would love to return one day
Not only was the location an absolute dream but the hospitality of the hosts was second to none. The apartment itself was huge and furnished very well and the hosts had thought of everything you could possibly wish for. Will definately be returning.
The location is stunning. You definately need a car to get about. The skiing was good still as the snow machine had been put on. Kyla, our daughter ( 20 months) loved the toys you left for her to play with and the sweets for easter was an aded bonus. It was a perfect short break although lots of shops shut for easter - the norwegains do enjoy their holidays. The chinese restuarant in town ( Risor ) was great and well worth a visit.
Norway was amazing and it was with much help to the place we stayed. The appartment is set very close to a beautiful lake and with only 2 families near by you really feel like you have the place to yourself. Tony is a great host! Him and his wife made sure that we were at comfort at all time. They never intruded but were always there to help us with any queries we had. They also let us use their boat so we could do some fishing! The appartment is immaculate and well furnished. Out on the balcony you have a great view of the lake which is only 5 minutes away. Behind the appartement you can walk into the woods and explore to find elks and many other wildlife! once you get to the top of a hill in the woods you can get a great views over the lake and the woods. The appartment has many facilities - including flat screen TV and dvd player and a huge classic collection of dvds to keep you entertained in the cold nights! There is also an indoor and outdoor log fire and an outdoor barbeque!! Overall a great holiday thanks Tony and your family for a great time and sorry for the late review! many thanks again Max and Sunita
Fantastic property and great holiday. Lovely location with stunning views. We missed a freezer and washing machine but still loved the house. The owners enthiusiasm for helping us have a good holiday and suggesting things to do was second to none. I would recommend this place every time!!
Very nice apartment overlooking a lake and very well done up inside.
A wonderful apartment in a beautiful setting with some very friendly and generous hosts. We had a lovely time here and have some unforgettable memories. If only our stay had been longer! This really is a brilliant holiday destination.
Wonderful location that's amazing in the wintertime. Owners were welcoming and helpful with lots of suggestions for places to visit and things to do. Looking forward to seeing it in the summer.
I will recommend and hopefully return to this beautifull property at Lovlia Lakeside. Our welcome was delightful and our hosts were so nice and could not do enough to help us enjoy our stay. We really enjoyed the boat and will return to do (more) fishing. The attention to detail in the apartment was excellent and we had everything we needed
We thoroughly enjoyed staying in the apartment. The owners, who lived down stairs, were helpful but not intrusive. The apartment was tastefully decorated and had super views. The pictures on the internet did not do justice to the apartment. It took 3 hours to get into central Oslo and 2 hours into Kristiansand so be prepared to drive fairly long distances to visit attractions. Natural attractions are on your doorstep!!
Excellent location, excellent owners, excellent area. Great situaution for getting out and about in a beautiful part of Norway
