The lovely garden (guest)house is ideally located in a 650 years old city, called Weesp. The guesthouse belongs to the residential historic farmhouse, the eldest farmhouse in the city itself, which has been constructed during three centuries and recently (1993) fully restored under the supervision of State Monument Care. However the guesthouse has its own entrance, can be accessed easily separetely from the road and contains a fully self supporting living unit. Weesp itself is located along the river "De Vecht", drifting away from Utrecht to the bastion city Muiden to find its way to a huge lake called IJsselmeer.
Weesp and its direct surroundings
In Weesp some historic attractions can be visited at walking distance, such as the original synagoge, the Old Church of Weesp, the fortifications, created in the 18th century. You can also visit the weekly market at Tuesday or take a stroll along the shores of the beautiful river "De Vecht". Experience a boat trip or a bike tour to admire the mansion estates, located along "De Vecht" in picturesque villages, such as Nigtevecht, Vreeland and Loenen, splendid monumental architectonic remains from the Golden Dutch Era. It is also worthwile to visit Muiden with its castle "Muiderslot" and the seventeenth replica trading vessel "Utrecht" and to watch at the stressfull manoevres of the captains with their boats in the narrow locks of Muiden, the gateway to IJsselmeer.
Amsterdam is very nearby; every quarter of an hour a train will bring you via the Central Station straight to the city center of Amsterdam. No hazzle with cars and plenty of time to visit one of the musea Van Gogh, Rijks- or Stedelijk Museum, the Royal Palace or Ann Frankhouse. Or enjoy Amsterdam by rental bike, by foot or by boat during a candle light tour through the canals. Take a break for a lunch or dinner in one of the many restaurants or bistros and finish your day in one of the entertainment centres such as Leidseplein or Rembrandtsplein. Don't forget to take the last train (a taxi is also possible approx. € 50,-) to Weesp and remember it is only a five minutes walk to your gardenhouse. The next day, relax again in the quiet residential garden or in the countryside of Weesp.

The hosts were very welcoming and thoughtful. The grounds of the villa and the adjacent area are fabulous. The location is great for getting into and out of Amsterdam and to other local area towns. The interior has some drawbacks...the bedroom ceiling is "A" shaped and it is so confined that the mattress is directly on the floor. It actually results in having to crawl into and out of the bed. For those in their fifties with arthritis it is quite a negative issue. For international travellers with luggage there is very limited storage space. The hosts were very accommodating and provided excellent recommendations on the local sights and restaurants. We would recommend the villa to couples in their 20s and 30s.

The previous reviews say it all: a lovely little house and garden in the centre of an old, yet lively town, and hosts who couldnt have been more welcoming. We will visit again.

We had a wonderful stay in the garden house in Weesp.
The description was extremely accurate and the property far exceeded our expectations.
The owners were very helpful in all manner of ways.
Weesp is a beautiful little town with some lovely shops, restaurants and cafe/bars.
We will certainly return one day for another relaxing visit to the garden house and Weesp.

A truly wonderful experience. This little house is beautiful. Yes, the ceiling in the bedroom is low - what one would expect in a house designated as historic. But the house has charm, comfort and character. The location is surprising. You look out over a well kept formal garden to dreamy church spires. It could be somewhere in the Dutch countryside. But, in fact, you are ljust a few minutes walk from the gourmet restaurants of the cozy village and about the same from the station with very frequent trains to nearby Amsterdam and Schiphol. The hosts are exceptional, discrete, respectful of one's privacy but also, if invited, very friendly and helpful. From the fresh fruit, wine and candles of our arrival to our teary farewell, an exceptional experience!

We had a wonderful vacation and the accommodations in the Romantic Garden Cottage played a major role in our vacation experience. The cottage was wonderful and accurately described on the listing. The town of Weesp had everything we needed within walking distance of the cottage. This was a cycling vacation and an excellent starting point for all our adventures. The owners were outstanding and helped us with anything we needed. Our visit was the best and we are looking forward to returning.

The cottage was better than the 5 star hotel we normally stay at in Amstardam and the owners couldn't do enough for us.The town of weesp is very quiet with a few very nice restaurants and bars but if you want nightlife Amsterdam is 15 mins on the train which goes 4 times an hour till about 12.30 am and the cottage is literally a 3 min walk from the station. We hired bikes during the day, this is a must the owners will sort you out with bike routes. Best Dutch weekend ever we have already re-booked
Weesp is beautiful, sleepy town, filled with charm and character. The House sits on a very quite side street and is very close to the town centre and the train station. The town has a wide selection of restaurants, cafes and bars, as well as a good range of shops. There are some lovely pastoral views along the river, including a couple of windmills.
Weesp has an excellent and affordable rail service and we chose to make good use of it, despite taking our car. We visited several cities this way and generally found that the train stations were centrally located and in walking proximity to attractions.
The owners were charming and helpful. They even made an appointment for us to take our dogs to the vets, for their "pet passport" requirements.
The property is spacious and provides comfortable accommodation for couples. The bath is wonderfully deep and there is an endless supply of very hot water. The sitting room is both comfortable and elegant and is equipped with a TV, DVD and CD player. The kitchen has two rings as well as a microwave and fridge. It is tiny and, consequently, most suited to making breakfast, rather than a main meal.
The only down side, from our point of view, was the bedroom area. My husband is six feet, three inches tall and, as such, was not able to fully stand upstairs, and banged his head on the stair way. This one, small, problem did not stop us from enjoying our stay. Highly recommended!
We had a wonderful time and are delighted to have discovered Weesp.Your cottage will be very popular we believe. We would love to return for a ling weekend in December Ian Turner and Sarah Jones.8th July 2005.
