Villa overview - owner's description

Belle Vue Villa
This detached privately owned villa is ideally located in the picturesque village of Pereybere, only a 10 to 15 minute walk to the beach. Here you will have the dual benefit of being close enough to walk to the main beach attraction and enjoy the hustle and bustle of the fishing village, or choose to enjoy the peacefulness and privacy by relaxing within the spacious villa grounds, perhaps taking a dip in the villa’s luxurious private swimming pool.

The villa is privately owned by a retired British couple who are originally from Mauritius. They spend most of their time in the south of the island where they have their own family home. They chose this particular area to build their villa as its location ensures privacy, it is a safe area and Pereybere's pristine beach is close by. There are also neighbouring villas of equally high standard.

The fully furnished villa consists of:
First Floor - 3 double bedrooms (1 ensuite, 1with large balcony), 1 main toilet and shower (separate).
Ground floor – 1 twin bedroom, 1 fully equipped kitchen, 1 spacious lounge,
1 large dining room, 1 main toilet and shower (separate).

Outside – Ample sized swimming pool, veranda/patio area and a safe area for children to play. The grounds are secured by a wall recently increased in height to ensure maximum privacy for your pleasure. The property’s high gates can be locked at night ensuring safety.

This charming and elegant villa is ideal for honeymooners, families or even if you’re just taking a business trip. Whatever your reason to visit this island of paradise Belle Vue villa guarantees to provide you with comfort, luxury and relaxation where you can soak up the sun!

A representative will pick you up at the airport upon arrival in Mauritius (about 45-50 minute drive from the airport to the villa) and take you to the property, show you around and hand over the keys. Upon departure, our representative will also transport you back to the airport. This service is free of charge for up to 4 people. If your party is more than 4 people then you will have to pay for a taxi to take the extra people to and from the villa.

Should you decide to venture out of Belle Vue villa, you will find the deep crystal clear waters and soft sandy beach of Pereybere ideal for swimming, within 15 minutes walking distance. Pereybere beach is one of the best bathing places on the whole island where you can enjoy a wide variety of activities such as glass bottom boats, underwater sea walk, parasailing, pedal boats and many more. You can also enjoy the local food merchants’ snacks whose presence is evident along the beach.

The village situated along the coast line has numerous bars and restaurants (all close to each other and next to the beach) offering a wide variety of cuisines such as French, Chinese, Italian, Indian and Creole (the traditional Mauritian cuisine),whose prices will even satisfy a relatively low budget. Within easy reach from the property, you will also find a mini supermarket where day to day necessities can be purchased. Other facilities close by include chemist, bank and cash point, beauty salon, car rentals, taxis and buses.

You may wish to explore neighbouring beaches along the northern coastline such as Grand Bay, Mont Choisy, Cap Malheureux, Bain Boeuf and Trou Aux Biches which are all within 20-25 minutes drive. These equally beautiful white sandy beaches and lagoons of an absolute purity are at your disposal, forming an ideal environment for a perfect beach holiday.
CAP MALHEUREUX is well worth a visit as you can hire boats to visit Coin De Mire island and Round Island where you can experience some stunning landscape and panoramic views.
MONT CHOISY boasts a beautiful long white sandy beach full of filaos trees whilst POINT AUX PIMENTS offers a quiet and stretched beach.
GRAND BAY which can be reached within a 10 min drive/bus ride offers multiple activities such as shopping (Super U shopping arcade, local markets selling all sorts of souvenirs/clothes etc), nightclub, casino, bars, restaurants, a variety of water sports and excursions. Grand Bay is by far the biggest tourist centre in Mauritius.
TROU AUX BICHES being a nice place to snorkel is ideal for beginners as you can reach the coral reefs and a variety of exotic fishes easily after only 50-100 metres swim.

For those wishing to venture further inland there are a plethora of sights and attractions such as Pamplemousses Garden, Chamarel, Domaine du Chasseur, Domaine Les Pailles, Casela and Port Louis.

PAMPLEMOUSSES GARDEN is well known to naturalists throughout the world for its large collection of indigenous and exotic plants including the giant Victoria Amazonica water lilies and many species of palm trees. Of particular interest is the Talipot Palm, said to flower once every 60 years after which it dies. The deer and tortoises are sure to delight the youngsters, whilst an old French mansion, Chateau Mon Plaisir, and an old sugar mill conjure up pictures of Mauritius’ rich historical past.

CHAMAREL: this exquisite site located in the south west consists of the seven coloured earth which are apparently the result of the erosion of volcanic ash.

LE DOMAINE DU CHASSEUR is situated on the east coast in the mountains where you will discover the fauna and flora of Mauritius with no less than 1500 stags and deers living in freedom.

DOMAINE LES PAILLES ; this spectacular landscape is situated approximately 10 minutes from the capital Port Louis which boasts Mauritius’ historical and cultural heritage. The nature park spreads over 3000 acres of mountainous range which include sugar cane plantation and its old sugar mill, old rum distillery and the garden of spices. Trips through the park are available on horse drawn carriages and train. There are various other forms of entertainment in this vast “domain” of nature and culture.

CASELA nature park situated in the west (approximately 1hr drive away) houses more than 160 varieties of birds, tortoises, fishes, monkeys, tigers and also a large variety of tropical flowers and plants. The idyllic scenery created by the trees, streams, small falls of water and cascades make this a peaceful atmosphere.

For those of you wanting to experience Mauritian city life then Port Louis is the place to be. Port Louis is undoubtedly the liveliest place on the island which is only a 40-45 minute drive from Pereybere. The Central Market (Bazaar) portrays typical Mauritian street life.
Within the city you will find the National History Museum (Chaussee Road) and there is also the Place d’Armes on the main square which is a beautiful avenue with splendid palm trees leading to the Government House, a spectacular 18th century French colonial building.
The CAUDAN WATERFRONT is perhaps the most popular place of interest in the capital city where its state of the art shopping complex situated next to the harbour consists of a multitude of shops and restaurants. There is also a cinema, casino, museum, games’ park and a variety of other activities.

From Wolverhampton, United Kingdom Jan 2013

a good size property which was currently being updat ed however the decor was a ltttle dated and needed refreshing the air didnt work and i would recommend they fit new in all bedrooms has the heat was so much that you simply couldnt sleep comfortably as the fans in the rooms where just not enough also a replacement tv is needed has the colour valve had gone it was a little away from the main town and beach however if you dont mind a walk then its a good location for which we felt the north of the island is certainly the best for bars ,restuarants and or simply hire a car then you get to see all of maurituis sofor we definately plan to return to maurituis but would prioroties our look for air con property on our next visit . so for overhaul value it was very good value esp that the owners met us at the airport and provided transfers and just a quick note some new sunbeds would be good esp if their were more guests staying having a monkey visit the garden was an absloute treat

Upon leaving the villa the customer said he was very happy with everything and that he would return to the villa in the future if he returned to mauritius. He had not complained about there being no air con. There are fans in every room which previous customers were appreciative of and didn't complain about no air con.The website does state that there is no air con which the customer should have considered before booking. The tele has been replaced and is in good working order and there are new sunbeds beside the pool. We have recently repainted the villa and have new windows fitted throughout.

Upon arrival, the caretaker Nizam, picked us up from the airport. He is a gentle and very sweet man in that special Mauritian way, and even offered to take us to the Super U.
I was told that many of the villas were very dusty and dirty but Belle Vue was spotless. The pool was lovely too and added benefit when away from the beach. There is a driveway and lockable gates with space to park a car.
The villa was big and roomy and exceptional value for money. It more than met expectations.

The villa is off the main road along the beach front. The walk was at first tiring. But that was only due to the heat. But once we got used to it, we all quite enjoyed the stroll. The streets were safe even at night. There were many restaurants nearby too. The Sea Lovers and Des Ilse Seaurs to name a few. Taxis are easily available too from the main road.
Highly recommended.

The villa is suited in a very quiet neighborhood, we like that a lot.
Almost no traffic on the road near the villa.
It was a bit to walk to Pereybere beach (maybe 10-15 minutes), but we done that many times everyday.
We got what we want when we decide to rent Belle Vue Villa.
Everything was like they say at
The owner of the villa gets us good contacts in Mauritius and help was there when we need it.
The transfer between airport and the villa was really nice. The driver shows us everything we need to know both in Pereybere and in the villa.
If we come to Pereybere again, we surely will rent the villa again.
I and my two friends thank all of them that take care of us under the vacation.

The Barn in France is a real home from home with all the comforts you need when you are staying away. The Barn is very spacious, open, airy and light, offering every comfort you would need. We stayed with two 18 year old boys, and they loved the facilities on offer to keep them entertained, a real bonus. If you are looking for somewhere quiet, comfortable with every convenience on hand, then The Barn is for you. Would be nice to have bicycles as the area would be great for cycling, also would suggest a "hot tub" in the garden next to the patio area, but only suggestions, and do not deter from the comfort and the facilities on offer.

From San Jose, USA Mar 2007

The barn is in a lovely little hamlet but you must have a car because its much further than stated to get bread ect. It would benefit by having bikes!! Also the website photos were obviously taken some time ago as the barn was a bit tired. Thankfully we took cleaning things as we well and truly needed them in the kitchen, the cooker was disgusting! Great to have a dishwasher and the outside area is lovely.

Deborah, Im so glad youve had a great time and appreciated the space. I barely finished construction on the barn last summer. This is only its second year and people seem to love it. Great suggestion about the bikes. I wouldnt recommend staying without a car although you may have spotted the bread van does come through the hamlet, usually daily. As do other provisions, meat, fish, household products.I checked with the housekeeper Stu, and he is very apologetic about the cooker. He ensures to scrub the house from top to bottom military style between guests. He hopes you enjoyed the champagne left in the fridge for your arrival but sorry he couldnt make it over for drinks before your departure.Thank you for your review, they are always very helpful to future guests. Chris.

Sabeena from the UK visited Belle Villa in June/July 2009 and this is her experience: Here is a little review of what we thought of the place in Mauritius:From the moment we saw the place, we fell in love with it. It is well spacious. The rooms were clean and the living accomodations was very good. It wasn't far from the shopping centre either. The beach was about 6 minutes walk from the villa. It was in a perfect location. We were very glad and lucky to get this place we would recommend anyone to give it a try at least once.
