Villa overview - owner's description

Newly built 4 bedroomed, Swahili style villa fully staffed, in a walled, alarmed, 1 acre of tropical gardens a 10 minute stroll to the beach. Complete with 8m x 10m private pool. Sleeps 10 + a baby.

Kiboko Nyumba is a 700m² villa on 3 floors located in a 1 acre plot set back 100 metres from Turtle Bay Road. Great for family holidays, parties or group gatherings, it is an ideal place to spend your holiday being pampered by our wonderful staff away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. The ceiling fans in every room along with the makuti roof and open grill windows mean that you can benefit from the cooling coastal breezes without the need for power-hungry air conditioning units. There is ample space for entertaining in the open plan lounge, the relaxing top terrace, the large verandah or around the pool.

The vast 14m x 12m living space is open plan with a lounge area that includes 3 large sofas and a 52 inch plasma tv. This comes with a dvd player and dstv satellite which can be upgraded for the duration of your holiday to include the sports channels at an extra cost. The dining section has a table which seats 10 and a bar with refrigerator and water cooler.

All of the bedrooms have louvred shutters to the windows and floor to ceiling mosquito nets around the beds. The staff will prepare your rooms each night before you retire. There is a cot also with mosquito net for a baby.
The verandah has cushioned seating on one side and another 10 seater dining table for al fresco eating. The ground floor also has a large fully equipped kitchen, a laundry room and a store room as well as a shower and toilet.

The wide staircase opens onto a covered balcony overlooking the pool and garden. Leading from this are two of the bedrooms. The first is 8m x 4m and has 2 hand carved double beds. Between the built in wardrobes there is an entrance into the en-suite shower room. The second benefits from having open grill work across the doorway ensuring the room remains cool even on the hottest days of your holiday. Further along the landing there is a third room with an en-suite shower room and includes free standing furniture.

The spiral staircase takes you from the first floor landing up to the makuti covered roof terrace. This impressive open space of 12m x 8m has plenty of seating and a second bar with refrigerator and water cooler. Decorated in the Swahili style with locally made furniture and an antique persian rug this is the ideal place for relaxing with a drink or two to watch the sun go down. Leading from this is the master bedroom suite. This 6m x 8m room is furnished with a 2.4m bed and more hand made furniture. The dressing room is 4m x 4m and is again furnished by local craftsmen. The large en-suite has twin Italian designer sinks and a walk in shower.

The 1 acre garden is enclosed by a 2 metre high wall covered with bourgainvillea and topped with an alarmed, electric fence. Inside there are a variety of tropical plants and fruit trees including paw paw, bananas and coconuts. The 8m x 10m swimming pool which extends to a depth of 2.3 metres is surrounded by galana patio with sun loungers. Behind the pool we have a grass court ideal for playing badminton. Equipment is available from the staff. At the far end of the verandah there is a professional table tennis table and a darts board. Discretely situated at the end of the grounds is a 3 bedroomed staff house ensuring availability of assistance if needed during your holiday.

Kiboko Nyumba is located just off Turtle Bay Road which links Watamu Village and Temple Point and is situated amongst small shambas (farms). Goats and cows are regular visitors to the path at the side of the villa meaning guests are immediately immersed into local Kenyan life, however a very short drive by car or Tuk Tuk takes you straight to the the heart of the village. The beach access road is just a few minutes walk from house and within 10 minutes you can be stepping onto the glistening white sand of Watamu Beach.

My wife Jenny and I have been happily married for nearly 30 years. We live in England and have 4 wonderful children. We fell in love with Watamu and the people after a special anniversary holiday several years ago. We now have the most wonderful local Kenyan friends who have made us feel like family. Each visit feels like going home. 2 years ago we decided to build an eco friendly house in this fabulous location. Kiboko Nyumba was completed in November 2014 and is the realisation of our dream. Watamu is filled with great holiday experiences from scuba diving and deep sea fishing to bird watching and mini safaris in the Arabuko Sokoke National Park. Whether you are looking for action filled adventures or lazy relaxing sundowners on the tranquil waters of Mida Creek Watamu, is the ideal place for you.
