This stunning 16th-century home can sleep 14 guests in beautiful surroundings and boasts features such as a sculpture garden, a spa and a gym. When staying here, you will have everything you need for a serene break in the heart of Italy, whether you are planning to explore nearby towns and villages or simply spend time unwinding in the expansive grounds.
Spread over two wings which are connected by a covered walkway, the villa is a vast and beautifully designed place to stay. The large collection of rooms are all filled with carefully curated art work, antique furnishings and elegantdecor, along with a warm and welcoming colour palette.
There are seven bedrooms available for guests to get a good night's sleep and these are set over three floors. All of the bedrooms are en-suite and some offer both a shower room as well as a second bathroom with a tempting jacuzzi bath. If you need to accommodate more guests, then a cottage and an independent bedroom in the grounds can be added to your booking, bringing total capacity to 22/24 guests.
When you all wish to come together for drinks or for dinner, you will have a choice of several gorgeous living rooms and a large dining room where you can enjoy breakfast and lunch prepared for you by the on-site chef.
The large grounds contain a number of smaller gardens, including a vegetable garden, a garden of geometric hedges and an incredible sculpture garden which boasts works by Banksy, Anish Kapoor and Mitoraj amongst other contemporary artists! The gardens are an idyllic oasis where you can get away from it all amongst the cypress trees and rose bushes or dine on the covered pergola which is filled with fragrant lemon trees.
Guests can also take a dip in the private pool or visit the gym in the grounds. After travelling and busy days exploring nearby towns, you will be happy to know that Villa Art-Wine has its own spa. Offering relaxation areas, a Turkish steam bath, massage rooms and a heated pool, the spa is the ideal spot for an afternoon of pampering and taking part in yoga and fitness classes.
Villa Art-Wine also boasts lots of experiences for your party to enjoy without having to leave the property. Whilst here you can take a tour of the winery and vineyards, followed by a candlelit wine tasting session where you will sample wines from the home's cellar, paired with a sumptuous buffet.
The extensive grounds also boast a tennis court and an instructor can be booked if required. Alternatively, you could take a cooking class where you will learn how to make traditional dishes, pasta and deserts!
While staying at the villa you will find plenty to see and do in the nearby countryside, including walking and cycling. The villa owners can assist you in organising activities such as horse treks in the surrounding hills and hikes through the Valley of the Badlands. You can also pack a delicious picnic to take with you for a day unwinding in Alto Lazio and Umbria's picturesque landscape.
When you wish to do a spot of shopping or explore one of the nearby hilltop towns which are packed with charm and character. The closest is Civita di Bagnoregio, which is just 11km away from the villa. Civita di Bagnoregio is an incredible and rather unique town which is reached via a footbridge. The town is over 2500 years old and is known as the “dying village” as the hill is slowly eroding away. For now, however this pretty town is still standing and is a lovely place to spend the afternoon exploring the historic streets before enjoying dinner with wraparound views.

Location

Villa Art-Wine is an elegant home sitting in incredible landscaped gardens in the rolling hills of Alto Lazio and Umbria. Within easy reach of the villa, guests can discover lakeside beaches, rural walking trails and charming historic towns.
The villa is ideally situated amidst farmland, vineyards and olive groves in Alto Lazio and Umbria, in the heart of Italy. This location is perfect for those who like to spend time outdoors in nature as close by you can head out on long walks or even see the landscape by bike or horseback.

Though the home is located inland, you can also spend the day at the beaches lining the shores of Lake Bolsena, which is just 25km away. As well as an array of volcanic-sand beaches and lidos, there are lakeside villages that you can visit for the day, including the fishing village of Marta which is 40km away by car. It is a lovely village where visitors can watch the boats bob on the water or take a boat trip to the little island on the lake called Isola Bisentina. The medieval village has a selection of artisan shops, cafesand restaurants as well as churches, a fortress and a clock tower to look around.
When you wish to pick up some groceries or dine out without travelling far, the imposing hilltop town of Bagnoregio is just 11km away. It is steeped in history, having first been settled by the Etruscans 2500 years ago. The town is not as well known as others such as Orvieto and Assisi, making it a hidden gem and a magical place to visit for the day. Teetering on top of a slowly eroding hill, it is believed that in the future the town will collapse into the gorge below and now the only way to access it is via the footbridge which leads in through a Romanesque arch. This character-filled town is the ideal place to pass an afternoon wandering around the narrow lanes and dining in a street-side cafe. You won't find any museums or galleries here, just an authentically Italian town!

For a wider range of shops, bars and restaurants you could visit Orvieto which is 22km away. This small city has an old town and a new town and the best way to reach the atmospheric old town is by taking a ride on the funicular where you can take in incredible views and sip a glass of locally made white wine at a bar in the piazza.
Another idyllic village you could visit is called Narni and is located 53km away. Though small, there is plenty to see here including a unique attraction called Narni Sotteranea. This amazing place is an underground town which was discovered in the 1970s by a group of students. This hidden collection of buildings has stood for hundreds of years and includes a court room, a jail cell and a 13th-century church decorated with intricate frescoes. Visitors can explore the site with a guided tour and learn more about the history of this fascinating place and its involvement in the medieval Papal inquisition.
