Charming and well equipped property. Nicely situated on an eastern slope, so lays in shadow by noon, which is a good thing when its hot - which it was when we visited. Beautiful view towards the sea and quiet surroundings. We got up to sit outside at sunrise because of the view, starting Our days much earlier than we usually to. Place is well suited for grown ups, couples or friends - we were two couples. No pool and dependent on car to get around, so maybe not so Family friendly. Also quited countryside situation will exclude some. The owner is a super host, supplying us With Our first meal when we arrived and helping out With a Place to stay in Palermo afterwards. Recommended!

With great pleasure I would like add some our pictures of the villa!

If you want to feel the real spirit of Sicily life this villa is the best choice you can make ?
For village vacation cozy authentique style of the villa is much better then any modern designed apartments.
Your mornings you can start with strawberry, Prosseco and fantastic view of Tyrrhenian Sea and your evenings can be spend in the patio of the villa with an amaizing barbeque (all the facilities: wood, dishes, spices are included). Hammoch, which is also at your disposal, is an effective therapy for the hard working people. Villa is comfortible for 4 max 5 people. It has basic goods like sugar, salt, coffe/tea, pasta, some spices… It is quite important in case of late arrival and short vacation. There you can find a lot of Sicily guids in any languages, so it helps you to check you touristic plan additionally. Free Wi-Fi you can find in Castellommare del Golfij restaurants or you can buy local sim for mobile Internet. Fan, towels, soaps and so on are also availible. Villa is situated on a hill, so you will need a car for sure. By the way, all good villas are situated on a picturesq hills in a 5-10 min of car way from the city.
Main plus of this villa is it’s owner. He is hospitable, intelligent and very possitive person who can help you to orient in Sicily, its history, traditions and morals.

Andrey, thanks for the wonderful review, and I hope to have you again in my house. I am happy you've managed to capture the true spirit in which I receive my customers. The owners usually they are the first people they meet when they arrive in a new place, therefore it needs we y must make sure to put customers at ease and offer them the peace and privacy they need, and try to inform them about the habits, the uses and traditions of this beautiful land that is Sicily

I think the other reviews have summed this up so well, but everything was so right I have to add my own. Yes, the situation is superb, the views are incredible and its true, the photos dont quite do it justice. It works well for a family, with a range of shady and sunny spots, including a variety of places for eating (not to mention the outdoor kitchen) in the gorgeous and beautifully planted outdoor area. The villa, with traditional rustic decoration, is comfortable inside and has all the equipment you might need - with the hobs and the barbecue its pretty easy to get around the small oven. You have space away from it all and its peaceful and secluded yet you are within easy reach of restaurants, supermarkets, beaches, interesting sight-seeing etc. Giuseppe the owner gave a welcome (together with delicious and generous food) which exceeded my expectations by a long shot and Im sure will be rarely matched. A text during our stay directed us to a local festival we would otherwise not have been aware of. If youre thinking seriously about this villa for a holiday then go for it!

From Bewdley, United Kingdom Jul 2010

This villa is in a superb location the views are stunning! Plenty of out door space with sun or shade. In a private location halfway up the hill, so you can feel away from it all but its still only 10 minutes to a great little supermarket with a super deli and butchers and a further five minutes to some great resteraunts in Scopello. The inside of the villa is well appointed and comfortable. the style of the kitchen is rustic but it suits the property and is well equiped although the oven is small. Guiseppe the owner is very welcoming, but will leave you to get on with your holiday. The villa is in a great corner of Sicilly and it can be hard to move away from the views to explore. A superb place to relax and get away from it all

From London

We arrived at the end of March for the Easter holiday and thought we had landed in the Outer Hebrides! The welcome from Guiseppe more than made up for the cold climate and he guided us to the villa set amidst an olive grove high above the little town of Scopello.

To say there was a "meal" on arrival was an understatement as the was a banquet that lasted us for two evening meals, and it was delicious!
Guiseppe was an excellent host indeed taking the time and trouble the following morning to give us a guided tour of Palermo. He was always on hand at the end of the phone if ever we had any query about the property.

I should imagine the best time to visit would be when the weather is a little warmer and you can make the most of the extensive outdoor living area. That being said the villa was extremely cosy and even from inside had the most magical views. There were also very few tourists about, which I imagine will not be the case in high summer.

We spent the week exploring Sicily, and the location of the villa a 7 minute drive to the main road/ motorway network meant that we were able to do day trips as far afield as Agrigento, for the amazing Greek Temples, easily in a day.

The villa itself is extremely well equipped. We tended to eat out during the day then cook our own meals in the evenings enjoying a pre-dinner drink, admiring the views over the Gulf of Castellamare. We can highly recommend the harbour side restaurants in Castellamare, excellent food and picturesque setting, only a 10 minute drive away.

We have no hesitation in recommending this villa and the generosity of its owner Guiseppe!

“Living with the Gods” Giuseppe's house is located in one of the nicest areas of Sicily - if not the nicest. Scopello is a lovely little town with a very pleasant nightlife and an absolutely beautiful coast line. Both Palermo and Trapani airports are only minutes away due to the fact that the autostrada is nearby. This is also a good place from which to radiate towards Selinunte, Segesta and even Cefalu ; although we ended up just sitting by the house and looking at the truly incredibly beautiful view over the sea… The house is set in the hills ; a situation that provides both freshness in the summer and calm all through the year. There are many outside spaces which allows every family member to be on his own, either in the sun or the shade. There are stretchers galore, tables to eat, others for the apperitivo,… and a soccer-table for the family ! The fridge was full of wonderful surprises including a bottle of limoncello!, white wine, red wine,… There was also a basket of fruits, wonderful bread (be sure to ask for the bakery), local delicatesses,… If it passed your mind – as it did mine – that this place is rather expensive, you will certainly understand were the plus-value has been invested – at least part of it ! – when you snoop around the kitchen. (Believe me, you will prefer it this way around, rather than finding a place with kitchen towels in the toilet because the previous gusts had run out of toilet paper…) Giuseppe is not only a very kind and reliable person ; to us he has been a true guardian angel. “So many ways to relax!” My husband, our 3 month old daughter, and 1 friend stayed at Giuseppe's villa for 10 days in June and had a wonderful time - quiet and relaxing, all while enjoying some beautiful views and food. Each item in the house has (I felt, anyway) been chosen with love and care, and it has a great warm feeling about the place. Two things I think are particularly noteworthy - the number of choices of places to relax, and the small but very well equipped kitchen. I think we must share the same values with Giuseppe!? Every time I picked up my book or poured ourselves a glass of wine, I had to spend a delicious 5 minutes thinking, "hmm, where am I going to sit today?" The hillside location commands a spectacular view of the coast, dotted with olive groves and vineyards in the foreground. Outdoors, there is the main terrace with loungers and a parasol, a beautiful wooden dining table with benches, some chairs by the railings, a terrace by the main entrance (also with a dining table), and another terrace (again decked with loungers) just to be safe. And oh yes, and if that's not enough there is a hammock where you can catch the breeze and enjoy the sun and seaview. Just in case it rains (!) there is of course a dining room and two living room areas where you can pick from the many couches. All the beautiful trees, shrubs and flowers cocoon it nicely and we were surprised that the neighbours are actually not that far away. The indoors kitchen was the most well equipped, efficient kitchen I have ever seen. In a small space there are all the utensils you can think of. The local supermarket (5 mins drive) has a good selection of cheeses, meats, veggies, and wines. In addition to going out to restaurants in Scopello, we had a great time trying all the cold meats, cheeses, barbecue skewers, pates etc. * The only thing the local store did not have were diapers the right size for our daughter, we had to drive 15 minutes into Castellamarre for that. As eating and reading (ideally with small naps in between, punctuated by small trips to the beach) are my two favourite pastimes, this villa was the perfect place for our holiday. I would definitely recommend this villa to anyone (including families with young babies) who is looking for a place to relax and forget the busy stressful city life.

“Stunning outdoor space with amazing sea views” This is an amazing holiday rental, with so much outdoor space and incredible views of the bay and the sea. Giuseppe has created this home with love and attention to detail, and excellent taste and style. He even texts you if the forecast is rain! He provides beach chairs and umbrella, and even buckets and spades for the children. The welcome meal was excellent, and it included pastries for breakfast, and a whole ricotta cheese. We loved the clear blue sea for swimming, and the Nature Reserve nearby for its walks and secluded beaches. Scopello is a lovely village nearby, and there is a very good market shop for food and fresh vegetables and fruit. Take the road up from the house into the hills and try the restaurant there only open at the weekends. We loved the fact that Giuseppe was so helpful and friendly. It made all the difference that he was there to fill us in on the area, and to give us a personal tour on arrival. You actually feel that what makes Giuseppe happy is to see you love being in his house, and we did love being there. We had an 18 month toddler with us and she had a great time. I'll definitely go again, as long as there is space now I have told all my friends that they have to go too!

A wonderful time at the Villa Cecilia The villa felt like home almost immediately. A little hard to find tucked away in the hills above Scopello the peace and beauty of the view are hard to describe. As photographers we watched the changing of the light and the clouds with much delight. Everything in the house (including the wonderful fireplace which due to the cool weather we used almost every eveing) was comfortable and was immaculate. Even the grounds around the house were beautifully cared for. The market just down the hill from the Villa provided fresh vegetables and everything that would be needed to cook when we ate in. We ate at the two restaurants in Scopello and found both excellent. The owner Giuseppe, not only provided us with a lovely Sicilian spread of delicious food and wine, but was available to answer questions via text on a variety of issues. (one being the availability and location of the funivia to Erice ;). This home is a wonderful location from which to explore the lovely western part of Sicily. I would highly recommend the Villa Cecila to anyone!!

“Great place and great host” We stayed for an Easter week in april 2014. The host, Giuseppe, was great - he met us in Scopello so that we wouldnt have problems finding the house. In the house, which is fully equipped, there waited a delicious meal, which Giuseppe prepared for us, two bottles of wine, bread, fruits and lots of water - so we didnt have to worry to shop in the evening. Very considerate and kind, and was greatly appreciated. Guiseppe lives in Palermo so we had the house all by ourselves. The views from the house are truly astonishing, waking up to the 180 degrees view of the sea is amazing. You will need a car to get around, it takes about 5 min to drive to the beach in Scopello. Palermo and Trapani is about 45 min. There are several nice restaurants in Scopello, but the village is not big. The local market sells local vegetables and meats, which are great. Overall, we had a great stay - very relaxing, great food, good weather and beautiful surrondings. We would love to return!

“A very private and peaceful Place” We were welcomed by Giuseppe, with a wonderful Lunch, we enjoyed our stay at Villa Cecilia, in the mountains, we had all the basic amenities you would expect. Most of all it was quite and peaceful, we woke every morning to a wonderful panoramic view of the sea. Scopello and the surrounding villages provided good eating places, also within 5 mins there was a very good supermarket, well stocked for everyday essentials, also in Scopello was the most amazing Bakery for Bread and the local "Pani Cunzatu", but also the drinking fountain was used by all including the locals, and we filled our water bottles every couple of days. Most of all we were in Villa Cecilia that fitted our needs, and I would recommend it suitable for people who want there tranquility and personal family space to do what ever they wished. The weather was absolutely wonderful for October achieving 25 deg C even on cloudy days, which was a welcome break from the UK. Thank you Giuseppe, we will be recommending your beautiful to our friends and family.

“Lovely villa with stunning views” We(four adults) stayed in the villa in early June for a week. Guiseppe, the owner, met and greeted us in the nearby village of Scopello, and escorted us to the villa. He had prepared a lovely lunch for us. The villa is about five to ten minutes drive from Scopello and is 'off the beaten track'. You definitely need a car. The villa is large with several dining areas outside, so you could have breakfast, lunch and supper in three venues. Views are superb. The villa is very comfortable with all the amenities in the description (and more). The location acts as a good base for exploring the west of Sicily with the interesting town of Ericce and site of Segasta within about forty minutes drive. The Zingaro nature reserve (only walking inside) is about ten minutes drive. Thoroughly recommend the villa.

“Hard to surpass this wonderful place to stay” We returned to this villa, having previously visited in 2011. In 20 years of holidays it's the only place where we have really felt compelled to return: the welcome is magnificent, with an incredible spread of local food on arrival and the friendly smile of the owner, a beautifully presented and very well-equipped house and garden in an outstanding position with amazing view, lots to see and do including beaches, ancient sites, the Zingaro, the list goes on and on. We plan to return yet again, and would thoroughly recommend this wonderful place.

“such a relaxing experience helped by the generosity of Guiseppe'” Fortunately the 2 of us had good weather, all important in properties with hot climates. The comfortable villa was sited way up a mountain/very large hill! which meant a car was essential + there is no way to walk down to Scopello. The huge outside space had lots of equipment and was excellent for eating out/barbeques/sunbathing. The panoramic view was absolutely glorious and overlooked 180 degree view of the gulf. Guiseppe the owner is a lovely man. On arrival we followed him in his car and he gave us a brief tour so we could orientate ourselves and once in the villa he explained all the amenities and foibles of his house. He also brought large quantities of tasty cooked food + delicious cakes which lasted us for 3 main meals.

“This country house is an ideal vacation spot.” Excellent service and maximal comfort! The cosy house is full of stylish beautiful things. From the terrace an amazing landscape will open before you. The house is located very conveniently: 10 minutes of driving and you are on a small excellent beach. Besides there are many interesting places capable to satisfy different tastes. They are situated close enough. As for me the best thing was silence and air which I would like to breathe endlessly!

“A beautiful and warm stay” If you want to pretend that you are a native Sicilian, this is it. We stayed here for four nights with our 11 month old baby boy and absolutely loved it! You can tell that the owner stays here himself sometimes as the villa caters to all your needs. It even has a second kitchen outside on the terrace and the views are amazing. Would love to come back to "our Sicilian home".
