Casa Vistamare is a delightful and spacious villa set in a garden stocked with grape vines & fruit trees, lying in an extremely quite & peaceful location in the Montecorvo foothills of Ischia. Guests will love the truly stunning, virtually 180°panoramic view of the Tyrrhenian sea(Mediterranean). Despite the secluded location the villa is only 5 minutes downhill stroll to the main road and bus services. The nearest town (1.5 km.) is Panza, convenient for shopping and restaurants. The villa is 4.5 km. from the main town of Forio, 12 km. from Ischia Porto.
Because the villa has its own pool guests may be inclined not to venture any further for swimming. However there are many delightful beaches within easy reach, particularly Citara (and the Thermal Resort Poseidon), St Angelo & the Sorgeto bay with its famous hot springs.
Public transport on Ischia is excellent, frequent & cheap! However renting a car is undoubtedly more convenient and will spare guests the exercise of walking uphill to go home!

The villa is spacious, comfortable and clean. All the windows and doors have insect screens to keep the beasties out. The bedrooms and lounge are equipped with electric fans which keep the rooms cool in the hot summer. The pool is clean and well-maintained and wonderful to dip into during the hot afternoons. The villa grounds are stocked with fruit trees which guests are allowed to help themselves to.
The villa is situated half way up a mountain (possibly a hill, but I come from flat Norfolk so it's hard for me to gauge!). The young members of the party managed the climb up the road in about 10 minutes, but we needed to rent a car for the more elderly members of our party. The road is narrow but our rented Fiat Panda managed to squeeze through ok.
The proprietors are helpful and are on hand for any problems. We stayed for two weeks and had a wonderful time. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent location. Great Pool, I would recommend this Villa

A lovely villa although you need a small car to get up the narrow road. it is
worth ith though for the spectacular views of the sea. The villa is spacious and well equipped .
My children had great fun making pizzas in the pizza oven. I do not think that the internet pictures do it justice
We were picking peaches and hot lemons from the trees in July.Mike is a charming but unobtrusive and
when he puts in the new pool to replace the existing pool shortly the villa will be perfect for a great family holiday, highly recommend this villa.
Our road is narrow and is not suitable for large cars. However, as previously noted, my BMW 318 coupe (1.7 m. wide) goes up & down without difficulty, and the common hire cars, Fiat Pandas etc., negotiate the road with ease. It is a fact that most roads on the island are narrow.I regret that I must have inadvertently confused Clare about ‘replacing’ the pool; happily we do not need to do this.During Clare’s visit (07 to 21-July) we were troubled by an elusive but persistent leak, which necessitated frequent topping-up of the pool. Since then we have isolated the cause of the problem and this will be rectified at the end of the season. The pool has been stable, and full, since the end of July.

A very spacious villa in a lovely situation. It had a few dusty corners, but spectacular views.
Our only real problem was that the pool was not ready because of problems with the water pumping. Mike tried his best and compensated us financially, but this was disappointing and might be something to check before finalising a booking.
It was extremely regrettable that the pool was not ready for use. The pool had been emptied the previous year and refilling was delayed while substantial improvements were completed to the area around the pool. When the time came to refill, intermittent water supply made this a very long and slow job. Initially the water supply problem was attributed to the utility in Napoli (all of Ischia's water is pumped from Napoli!) but in fact it was our own main pump and switchgear which ultimately proved to be responsible. Replacing these items completely resolved the problem and (please see subsequent reviews) the pool is now in excellent shape.
Being a large family with small children and with extended family on the other side of the island, we were very disappointed not to be able to connect with each other from the villa. There was no network available whatsoever, and we spent hours - in total - trying to get connection with our cells in order to communicate with one or the other. Not very practical if you are a large party. If I had known this beforehand, I might have chosen a different location. Also, I was disappointed to have the owner clean the pool for 2-3 hours every second day, between the hours of 7:00 and 11:00 a.m. I wish I had known that before renting the place. Some of us felt that our privacy was invaded. Prospective clients should also be forewarned of the narrow (overstatement!) road leading up to the villa. The villa itself, however, was extremely comfortable, loaded with amenities. The pool was definitely a great hit.
We were four adults and six kids, between 4 and 8 years, old staying for a week at Casa Vistamare. We were very happy with the stay and the owners excellent service.
The property is spacious, has a beautiful garden, a lovely pool and an inviting kitchen, great for big dinner parties.
A car is needed in order to get to the beach and around the island. There is a big supermarked just down the hill from the house and a great bakery and a cosy village about a kilometer away.
The kids loved the pool. There are also several other outside areas on the property. Being allowed to pick fresh basil and vegetables from the garden really made us feel at home.
We will definitly recommend to rent the villa and probably come back ourselves.
Firstly, none of the photos can convey what a beautiful house and location this is. Breathtaking views from this gorgeous and very cosy house, with doors from the kitchen leading on to a wonderful pool and terrace. We did not want for anything ( maybe a vespa to nip down to the supermarket!!!) The house comes equipped with everything you need..including a fantastic selec tion of books!!!!. Mike was very kind in sending us a shopping list so the fridge was well stocked!!! Weather was extremely hot so probably did not see as much of the Island as would have liked but Mike sorted my brother out with a hire car very quickly and cheaply delivered to the door which was fab!!! I especially liked the sun room at night overlooking all of the glittering lights of Panza. You have to see this place to believe it....Meravigliosa!!!!
the house, views, grounds and swimming pool were beautiful. location a pleasant walk down to the bus stop, bakers and supermarket, a little steep coming back but it was mainly 43 degrees each day.mike was very helpful but not in the least intrusive. we would have been happy to stay forever. would definately like to return.
This property is perfect for a vacation with a big family. Everything in clean and very nice condition. A great kitchen connected to nice terrace and pool overlooking the Mediterranean sea. The villa also offers a beutiful garden with lemon, lime, grapes, squash and herbs of all sorts.
The owners offered great service and was very helpful.
Be aware that the small road leading up to the house is as narrow it can be. We recommend to rent a small car when visiting Casa Vistamare, which is also prefered for getting around the small roads in this beutiful island.
First of all villa owner is very pleasant person. Nothing was a problem for him. Villa itself is nice, well equipped - we did not miss anything. Pool is perfect - we even did not have a need to come to a beach. And if yes, then quite late (7PM and later) - they were not so full. Hot, fine sand & pleasant water.
Also view from terrace charming. Vicinity is very quite, absultely ideal for one who seek tranquil vacation.
As a final statement for villa - I fully recommend thanks to owner, location & pure italian atmosphere.
Only cardrivers should be aware of really narrow sideway roads.
The property itself is lovely with excellent finish throughout.
The location is such that you get total privacy and no shortage of peace and quiet but having said that, there is a large supermarket with 5 minutes and a superb bakery a very short drive away. Also, the quantity of fruit you can pick during a week will surprise you!
Forio is about 10 - 15 minutes away by car and is a lovely port with several good restaurants and shops. We also recommend a morning coffee in Pranza.
Michael gives you a thorough introduction to the house and you get a real feel that you are staying in a friends home.
The photos on the site cannot adequately put across the breathtaking view, it really is special.
One point to bear in mind is that you cannot really access the property without a car, and make sure it is not a large one! We had a Ford Focus estate and I would say it was too big. Anything larger than a VW Golf and I recommend taking out the extra insurance from the car hire company!
That is a small issue and not a problem if you take it into consideration when booking a car.
I would heartily recommend this property, it makes for a wonderful temporary home on a wonderful island.
Once we negotiated the ferry crossing to Ischia - remember to take car documents if going by car - finding the villa was simple (although we had sat-nav to make it easier and only got lost once!). However a warning for future users going by car - the road up to the villa is extremely narrow at the bottom, and steep. We could not get our car up there and had to walk up and down. Our friends had a hire car and even that only squeezed in by an inch either side. Now we know why the islanders drive small cars. However the owner was there to meet us on the first night and take our luggage up. And the walk up and down was good exercise!
Apart from that, the villa was lovely, with fabulous views of the sea and the island below. The pool is great.
At the bottom of the lane is a supermarket and a wine house for all necessary supplies! All in all a great place to stay.
Our road is narrow and is not suitable for large cars. However, to give some dimension to the problem, my BMW 318 coupe (1.709 m. wide) goes up & down without difficulty, and the common hire cars, Fiat Pandas etc., negotiate the road with ease.
