Ground floor 2 bedroom apartment facing south over the valley, easily accommodates a family of 4/5 in comfort. Swimming Pool. BBQ Outside terrace for alfresco dining. A secluded and tranquil retreat
Our home is a renovated farmhouse nestled in the beautiful unspoilt Valley of the Piomba, in the heart of Abruzzo. A fantastic house with a pool in a stunning location with amazing scenery, located in what we think is nowadays the best part of Italy. Surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and cherry orchards, it feels a million miles away from civilisation, peaceful, quiet and relaxing, with stunning views all around.
Parts of the building date back at least 300 years, with the oldest parts constructed from local stone and hand made bricks. The whole has been rebuilt or fully refurbished to a very high standard.
There are two large ground floor, self-catering apartments, this one ' The Arches' and 'Casa di Pietre' - 85250. Both are fully furnished and equiped to a high standard, each with 1 double bedroom and 1 twin bedroom (this can also be set as a double or tripple bedded room on request), lounges, kitchens, dining rooms, bathroom and private terraces and all the facilities a family needs to enjoy a relaxing stay, whether it's for a couple of nights, a week or two or even longer.
For stays of 3 nights or more, included in the price we offer a welcome pack of basic provisions, certainly enough to get you through breakfast on your first morning. In addition ( for stays of 3 nights or more), we also provide a welcome supper meal on your day of arrival to give your designated cook time to get their bearings before having to shop or cook.
There is a five meter diameter swimming pool, ideal for a splash about and at only 1.2meters depth safe for all the family's supervised bathing. There is ample parking. An on site wood fired Pizza oven and Barbeque. Pool side changing and toilet facilities. There are gardens to hide in and the surrounding countryside is a haven for a casual stroll or serious walkers.
Where are we? Just to the north east of Citta S.Angelo a pretty, ancient town about 10 miles to the north of Pescara. The fabulous sandy beaches of the Adriatic coast at Silvi Marina and Pineto are 4 miles away, just 10-15 minutes from the house. The shallow, warm waters of the Adriatic are ideal for safe family bathing.
The locals are friendly and outgoing, the food and wine are fantastic with plenty of good restaurants nearby. Loads to do and see, Snow capped mountains, vineyards, olive groves and beaches that stretch for miles, bustling markets, quaint hilltop towns and villages, historic sites, and if you ever need 'civilization' Pescara has all you could ever need!
stayed in th arches for the first time having previously stayed in casa de pietre, everything about the stay we found was perfect from the views to the apartment itself , Jeff and Jan were again the perfect hosts offering advice on the locality and events such as the yearly blessing of the grape harvest in nearby citta sant angelo, and we did get to sample the local wines which were fantastic, for a peaceful holiday with historical towns and wonderful beaches close by we would highly recommend

The property has a very good location, short way to the beach, stores and old cities. The apartments (two) are in a very good condition, clean and nice, with enough space for a family or couples. You can barbeque and take a bath in the pool or just relax in the garden or in the front of the apartment. The view is fantastic with the Adriatic sea in the bakcgrounds and grapes and vinyards in front of you. Beatiful and quite place. You will never meet better hosts. We recommend staying at this place. We hope to come back.

Jeff and Jan were amazing hosts, there was a great welcome pack in the apartment and a lasagne cooking in the oven, faultless. The apartment was spotless, spacious and uncluttered. We enjoyed their company and the stay was excellent value for money.

The quiet and peaceful place. Great views. Apartment well equipped. Owners who take care of guests. I recommend
We are just back from a fantastic holiday in Italy. And part of the fabulousness was definitely staying at The Arches. The landscape is beautiful, and so is the house. Geoff and Jan were fantastic hosts and super accommodating. we cant thank them enough for making our stay so pleasurable. We enjoyed the barbaque, the swimming pool, the hammock... there is also a fantastic, not so crowded beach very close by, like 15 minute drive, the pinnato beach. We loved it, not built-up at all, but still with the basic installations to be able to spend a whole day there...
Fully recommend it!

What can I say . Wow, its idyllic, whether you are catching the morning rays, the Adriatic sparkling to your left, the snow capped mountains to your right, or maybe cooking yourself a pizza in the garden bbq area in the early evening whilst the kids splash in the pool. The moment I arrive at the top of the drive (drive down the dirt track can be tricky but not impossible) I relax and as we park up we are always warmly greeted by Geoff and Jan (even when we arrived at 11:30pm!) so you never have to worry about your first cuppa. Were quite happy to spend lazy days around the apartments, splashing in the pool, reading a book on the sun lounger or just doing nothing, but theres plenty for everyone to do. My daughter Holly whos 17 particularly likes the daily markets in the surrounding towns, my son Josh whose 13 loves the sea and the pool and we all like the evenings, eating out, festivals and local village events which normally involve eating and drinking the local produce. Then theres churches, old towns and even Rome (just a couple of hours away) which we love to visit, (kids need an ice cream for these). At the end of a busy day we can return to the apartment which is spacious, immaculate and modern. There are some great restaurants locally. My two personal favourites are Margazillos in nearby Cita St Angelo where they do great arrosticini, seasoned lamb cubes on a skewer which are "immense" in the words of Holly and Josh. Geoff says 10 is an Italian portion, but we have been known to polish of 15 or 20 in a sitting. The second would be Lolitas in Silvi Marina for a wonderful Pizza. There are also some great eaterys in nearby Pescara, but as good as they are, youll often pay "city" prices, so Id recommend hunting out some places in the surrounding towns. Theres a great steak place on the sea front at Montesilvano but none of us can remember what its called so your on your own! The climate is warm and the people are friendly. The language can be a barrier as not all of them speak English, but its not one thats insurmountable as they will always try to communicate. In fact thats the charm for me, were holidaying in Italy and thats what I want to experience. Would I go back....weve already booked.
The 5m circular pool is 1.2m deep and great fun for all the family, it's use is shared with our other apartment ( Casa di Pietre). The pool is NOT security fenced
The BBQ and Pizza Oven next to the pool are available for use at any time (wood provided)
