Farm house overview - owner's description

Ground floor 2 bedroom apartment facing onto the pool and sea, easily accommodates a family of 4/5 in comfort. fully equiped kitchen and plenty of character. Outside terrace for alfresco dining.

A fantastic house with a pool in a stunning location with amazing scenery, located in what we think is nowadays the best part of Italy. We have two ground floor apartments to rent, this one and The Arches - 86133. Both are fully furnished and equiped to a high standard, with 1 kingsize bedroom and 1 twin bedroom (this can also be set as a kingsize or tripple bedded room on request) as well as all the facilities a family needs to enjoy a relaxing stay, whether it's for a couple of nights, a week or two or even longer. Casa di Pietre is the slightly larger of the two apartments and is most suited to group entertaining if you are booking both apartments, the dining table can accomodate 8-10 people and the kitchen is also equiped to cope with larger groups. For stays of 3nights or more we also provide (free of charge) a welcome supper and a basket of essentials so your designated cook can also relax on arrival. The locals are friendly and outgoing, the food and wine are fantastic, plenty of good restaurants nearby. Loads to do and see, Snow capped mountains, vineyards, olive groves and beaches that stretch for miles, bustling markets, quaint hilltop towns and villages, historic sites, and if you ever need 'civilization' Pescara has all you could ever need!

Recently returned from our second stay with Jan & Geoff in there beautiful apartments near Pescara, classing ourselves as frequent visitors to Italy we can honestly say that our visits to casa di pietre are without doubt our favourite stays in Italy and that includes the gorgeous lakes and other fantastic regions as we get everything you could hope for. The beautiful ancient towns of Atri and citta sant angelo within easy reach and also the more modern beachside towns of Silvi and Pineto, The views from the apartments are breathtaking with the hills, vineyards and coastline all in view. The hosting is also superb where you are left to do your own thing and yet if you fancy it meet some wonderful guests for a glass or three of Geoffs local vino around the barbecue. All in all a first class break and we cant wait to return for a third time.

The whole experience of casa di pietre was first class, Jan and Geoff were the perfect hosts with the delicious lasagne and the excellent local wine they provided on our late arrival to inviting us to a fabulous day grape picking with there neighbours. The apartment we stayed in was everything you could wish for with all the mod cons and the rustic charm you expect in Abruzzo, the views were breathtaking and with only a 10 minute drive to sandy beaches we cannot wait to return next year, this time for longer.

We stayed at Casa di Piedre for 12 nights in August (2 adults and a 12 year old) and couldnt have found a lovelier location. Youd go a long way to find better hosts than Jan and Geoff who ensure that everything you need is at your disposal and are very generous and helpful.
The apartment is clean, comfortable and well kitted out. The location is very rural and peaceful, but it is also within a short drive of Pescara and Citta SantAngelo so you get the best of both worlds in terms of shopping for groceries and eating out.
The beaches in the area are fantastic. We spent a lot of days at Pineto Beach where the waves were often quite frisky but the temperature was like bathwater! We found all the beaches visited to be very clean and litter free.
There is so much to see and the countryside is beautiful and unspoiled as are the towns and villages up in the hills. Wed recommend this accommodation and the area with confidence! Many thanks to Jan and Geoff for their kindness and hospitality!

From Knutsford

My holiday family of four grown-ups enjoyed a fabulous 2 week stay here. The weather was great, the location beautiful, the hosts friendly and attentive, the locals extremely charming and welcoming and the region is definitely a taste of the real Italy.

If you want five star luxury then this is not for you, but you should already know this from looking at the information before you book. If you want value for money and a great, relaxing and intersting holiday then this is ideal! Chillax by the pool, gaze across the beautiful valley, sip an ice cold beer (or 2), read all those books you just havent had time to get round to and soak up the rays!

The pool is perfect for a cool down and the apartments are clean, tidy and really rather stylish but, remember, the only time you will spend inside is at night and when preparing meals.

Okay, the track down to the property is a bit nerve-racking at first but you soon get used to it and it really isnt an issue - its all part of the rustic rural Italian charm.

We had a great stay and enjoyed several trips out to places such as Penne or Pescara. You definitely need a car if you want to get out and about but, for many days of our stay, our cool Alfa Romeo remained parked-up as we chillaxed at home.

Overall, this a great place to stay if you want to immerse yourself in rural Italy and take in all it has to offer. The locals dont speak much English but you can get by easily enough and they are so helpful and attentive. Even if you just have a smattering of Italian you will not have a problem.

Needless to say, we are seriously considering booking again for next year - the only thing stopping us is that we like to try new places whenever we can. Maybe we will just have to have 2 holidays . . . . .

From Gheadle

The property was fantastic value for money. The owners Jan and Jeff were very welcoming and looked after us extremely well. They were friendly without being intrusive and included us in their social life. We were made to feel at home in their home. The area is beautiful, unspoilt and very Italian. We spent most of our days at the villa and did not particularly feel the need to venture too far.

What can I say. Wow, its idyllic, whether you are catching the morning rays, the Adriatic sparkling to your left, the snow capped mountains to your right, or maybe cooking yourself a pizza in the garden bbq area in the early evening whilst the kids splash in the pool. The moment I arrive at the top of the drive (drive down the dirt track can be tricky but not impossible) I relax and as we park up we are always warmly greeted by Geoff and Jan (even when we arrived at 11:30pm!) so you never have to worry about your first cuppa. Were quite happy to spend lazy days around the apartments, splashing in the pool, reading a book on the sun lounger or just doing nothing, but theres plenty for everyone to do. My daughter Holly whos 17 particularly likes the daily markets in the surrounding towns, my son Josh whose 13 loves the sea and the pool and we all like the evenings, eating out, festivals and local village events which normally involve eating and drinking the local produce. Then theres churches, old towns and even Rome (just a couple of hours away) which we love to visit, (kids need an ice cream for these). At the end of a busy day we can return to the apartment which is spacious, immaculate and modern. There are some great restaurants locally. My two personal favourites are Margazillos in nearby Cita St Angelo where they do great arrosticini, seasoned lamb cubes on a skewer which are "immense" in the words of Holly and Josh. Geoff says 10 is an Italian portion, but we have been known to polish of 15 or 20 in a sitting. The second would be Lolitas in Silvi Marina for a wonderful Pizza. There are also some great eaterys in nearby Pescara, but as good as they are, youll often pay "city" prices, so Id recommend hunting out some places in the surrounding towns. Theres a great steak place on the sea front at Montesilvano but none of us can remember what its called so your on your own! The climate is warm and the people are friendly. The language can be a barrier as not all of them speak English, but its not one thats insurmountable as they will always try to communicate. In fact thats the charm for me, were holidaying in Italy and thats what I want to experience. Would I go back....weve already booked. Andrew P
