From the start, David (the owner) made the whole planning process as easy as it could be. He replied to our questions very quickly and left no question unanswered. Upon arrival Mr. Made (villa driver) picked us up at the airport. He was our personal tour guide throughout the trip and made it very memorable. He had itineraries ready to go in his head and he was ready to take us anywhere we wanted to go. He was very knowledgeable on the Balinese culture and took us to some awesome sites. Once we arrived at the Majestic Villa we were greeted by the villa staff. The villa was AMAZING! The breathtaking view and the atmosphere was everything we needed in our vacation. I knew we made the right choice as soon as we walked into the place. The first Majestic Villa we stayed at had two rooms downstairs. The master bedroom had a shower. Upstairs was an open living area with a couple of beds and another bathroom. It was very comfortable with our family of two adults and an 11 year old. Watching the sunrise with the volcano background was a sight not to be missed and we woke up early daily to see it. The poolside was huge and we enjoyed every minute of it. The villa staff was AWESOME! They quickly tended to our every need. Wayan “Man” (villa manager) ensured we had everything we wanted from our daily morning massage with Cantu (Highly recommended) to our morning breakfast from Wayan “lady” (banana pancakes!!!). Lunch and dinner was also occasionally scheduled and purchased from a local restaurant by the staff and delivered. Lets just say the staff made the trip very comfortable for us and I would go back just for their hospitality. During our stay the David contacted us and invited us to stay at his new Majestic Villa about 5 min up the road. At first we were hesitant because we enjoyed the first villa but what the hell, it was like having another vacation. The new Majestic Villa is almost identical to the first one but everything was new. There were additions to the downstairs rooms with 2 master bedrooms with bathrooms and an open living area upstairs with several beds and another bathroom. The infinity pool was awesome! There are 2 gazebos on the rooftop that offer remarkable views. The new villa can accommodate 2 families comfortably. The pictures do not do these villas justice. If you want to get away from the main tourist area and enjoy life, these villas and staff will ensure you do just that.
My parents recently celebrated their 50th anniversary.
I gave them some links to rental sites and told them, “Find the place you want to stay.” Almost immediately, they sent me a link to the Majestic Villa. The pictures and description were definitely beautifully intriguing, so I reached out to the owner to get more information.
David (the owner) was super-responsive throughout the planning process; he was always happy to answer our questions – no matter how strange or random – and truly made the pre-trip experience as stress-free as anything I’ve experienced. Whether it was asking additional details about the villa, or recommendations/feedback on potential excursions, his responses were always timely, informative and friendly.
When we arrived to the airport, our driver Made (mah-day) greeted us, helped us with the obscene amounts of luggage my folks brought, took us to the local supermarket – which he also helped us navigate – then on to the house, which met (and surpassed) our expectations.
The location is removed from the hubbub of the major tourist centers (thank god!), and the views were beyond amazing!! When clear, we could see all the way from the ocean to the majestic Mt. Agung, and overlooked a gorgeous valley full of luscious, tropical vegetation.
The staff are absolutely amazing! (Indeed, I grew so close to our driver, Made, that by the end of our trip, we were calling each other, “brother.”) The ladies – Katut and Wayan – who prepared us breakfast every morning (2 words you must remember: BANANA PANCAKES!), kept the house in immaculate condition and who, in general, just took such wonderful care of us – bonded with my mom so much so, that they all wept when it was time to leave.
Note re: the “accessibility factor”. The entrance is up a pretty long, steep flight of steps, and can only be reached by walking around the ledge of the (GORGEOUS) swimming pool. My father has knee problems & had some trouble with the steps & I was nervous with him circumnavigating the ledge of the pool (but, he never fell in, so I guess I was worried for naught…) If mobility is an issue for you, it’s just something to be aware of and consider. But, by the end of our time there, we all could have navigated our way to the entrance blindfolded.
Words simply cannot do this place justice and the pictures only hint at the beauty of the house and property. It’s truly something that has to be seen and experienced in person! Cannot WAIT to get back there again!
My husband and I flew into Bali for our honeymoon. We were promptly picked up by our personal chauffeur Maday who proceed to drive us for the next four days to anywhere we desired. He was great! On time, good personality, knowledgeable, and he had great suggestions too (like Lake Batur, Monkey forest, and Cafe Wayan to name a few)! On arrival at our villa we were overwhelmed at how beautiful it was! The pool was magnificent and the view from the top sitting area and bedroom was stunning. Wayan Ubud and Wayan the woman and man who worked there are attentive to every detail and as sweet as can be!! Banana pancakes for breakfast, they will go to the store for you, they will order food in for you, and they book massages for you in the villa too ($10 an hour, awesome!!!) Loved this place and the people!!
We've been amazed by Majestic Villa. Each day of our stay we could not believe we were staying in such a beautiful and elegant place. As some reviewers said, we kept calling it "Our Palace". High in altitude, the villa offers stunning views overlooking the tropical forest, volcano, and even the sea on the far right.
The elegance of the stone stairs, the impressive statue in the entrance looking at you like it is welcoming you, the religious statues at the bottom of the stairs giving the feeling to be in a temple, the incredible infinity pool with water falling down the walls and stairs...everything has been well thought and gives a feeling of serenity. As well as being Majestic, the villa truly makes you "feel" the culture of Bali.
The staff was really helpful and pleasant. The manager Wayan helped us organise our transfer to Nusa Lembogan very efficiently. Made the driver accommodated our plans and added great visits to our pleasure. Our 18 months old daughter just fell in love with him, it was just amazing! When she was asleep in the car, Made offered us to look after her while we'd go to visit a temple and on a few occasions he took her for a walk so we could have a quiet time eating at a restaurant.
The surroundings of the villa are exceptional (I strongly advise to go and see the volcano, the temple Gunung Kawi and the walk along the Sayan river starting from the Sayan Terrace Hotel with a guide).
We ended up eating most nights at the villa delivered food from a Chinese restaurant organised by Wayan, it was really good.
Our biggest regret is to have spent 3 nights only at the villa. Wayan told us that there are great walks to do nearby but we didn't have the time. It was worth taking the challenge to go with our toddler girl (no fence around the pool, stairs and big gaps in the balcony fence), it is an experience we'll never forget!
Thank you Wayan (man and woman), Made and David.
I spent a week at this wonderful villa with my wife and 2 kids ages 12 &14 . We called it our palace. Rather than repeat what has been said, I'll just say I completely agree with the next couple of positive reviews titled "Magic @ Majestic" and "gorgeous spot". I realized quickly having someone like Wayan with you was a big bonus. He knows everyplace to go. He'll get you there and then wait for whenever you are ready to move on. If he sees you trying to get across a busy street in Ubud, he will fearlessly jump in front of traffic to clear a path. He has the same attitude to get a great restaurant table for us. As a great guide, I realized he always took the routes that would allow us to see the most beautiful sites, without us asking. Lot's to see and do in all directions, but we were happy not to be staying in the middle of all the scooters and tourists in Ubud. He gave us a phone so we could always reach him, without fail. The housekeeper is very sweet and lovely. Pancakes and a smile in the morning. Make sure to load up at the grocery store because some days you're not going to want to leave the villa. Regarding other reviews, I wonder if they found anywhere in Bali that they were satisfied. The Villa is on a very small country road with little traffic and you would have a really hard time finding something more peaceful. Nobody on the road can see anything going on at the Villa, inside or by the pool. We all managed the walk round the pool and up the stairs entrance just fine, but for the very elderly and very young it would be concerning, depends on your group I guess. The staff brought all of our gear to and from the Villa for us. The kitchen worked fine for us with granite counter tops and 2 nice fridges, plus all the other things you might need. David who owns the Villa is great at coordinating the stay and providing answers to any question you might have.
The service was outstanding from even before the booking. David, the owner communicated and responded fast to all queries.
Wayan (Mr.Happy), the villa manager met us at the nearby supermarket to take us to the villa as we arrived quite late on the first night. For him nothing was ever a hassle - a genuine happy host and he was there whenever we needed something and not there whenever we wanted privacy just to relax. A true Balinese with great insight into culture, religion, places to see and things to explore in the area - also very proud of his family and has some amazing stories!
The villa itself was jaw-dropping on arrival. It was something quite grand. The access not the easiest, but unique and we like that, as you had to walk around the pool ledge, but that didn't bother us as the place felt like home immediately.
Interior is decorated with statues, wood carvings, original stone and wood features (Buddha above the bed!) and there is even a holy rock sticking out in the back of the house where the staff place offerings every day, beautiful! The owner has a unique and creative taste.
Ubud is only 20 minutes ride at most, in fact the location of the villa was perfectly in the middle to explore all temples and sacred places around Gianyar (Goa Gajah, Gunung Kawi and mother temple of Besakih to name a few) and the art and cultural entertainment of Ubud..to return to the villa with no tourists around and total peace was another highlight of our stay..
The guys at the villa really keep the place clean and put everything into making your stay as carefree and enjoyable as possible. Facilities were great - beds super comfortable, kitchen with all needed equipment to make a feast, crockery, spices, etc. there is even a bar on the second floor, which would make sense to fill up if your having an extended stay (with another fridge/freezer provided)
Surround sound system was pretty impressive and helped start the day, meditate and create a nice atmosphere during the chill in the evening.
There are also plenty of books on local culture and other travel destinations as well as art, architecture, music, etc - tons to choose from!
Can really go on with this review - to keep it simple, we just look forward to coming back one day soon! We miss you!
Thanks David and all your wonderful team for an amazing stay!
Ps We left a camera charger in the villa and realised after a few days, contacted Wayan and he happily found it and delivered it to us
We have just returned home from a fantastic five night stay at Majestic Villa. This was our first trip to Bali and we felt very privileged to stay in such a beautiful villa. The villa is located on a small hill called Bukit Jati / Hill of teak / and has what can only be described as a picture perfect view of a unique Balinese landscape. The villa is well furnished with plenty of places to relax both inside and out. In a hot tropical climate it was so nice to be able to enjoy our own private pool and that is where our children spent most of their time. The Villa Manager Wayan and the driver Maday both looked after us very well and took care of all our needs which added to the enjoyment of our stay. Wayan helped to book us on a rafting and mountain bike tour which we thoroughly enjoyed and also made good recommendations for restaurants and places to visit. Thank you for giving us such a memorable holiday.
We have just spent 3 nights at the Majestic Villa and it was truly a wonderful experience. The property is magnificent. You have the best of both worlds with fully sealed air-conditioned master bedrooms and the more traditional open area on the second floor - which is where we spent most of our time if we were not in the pool. The view is breath-taking. We travelled with our three children aged 15, 14 and 2 and felt totally secure in the property. The stairs are steep but fine as long as you are paying attention. The pool is one of the best we have had at any of the accommodation we have stayed in around the world.
I have to say that the staff at this property make the difference though - they are wonderful. Wayan (man) is a great host making you feel very welcome, Wayan (woman) made us the best banana pancakes and dressed us to attend a temple at her village during a 4 day ceremony (this is an experience we will never forget) and Made is the best driver, tour guide and giver of advice we have ever had - showing us sights that you would never see on a commercial tour.
I cannot recommend this property highly enough and would stay longer than 3 days next time.
After leaving the cool sanctuary of the plane we burst into the warmth and humidity of Denpasar Airport, Bali. We passed through the various controls without incident and were pleasantly surprised to see our written names, in the hands of Maday our driver from the villa, awaiting us.He helpfully escorted us to the car and we entered the busy roads of southern Bali.
My first impression of Bali was such that I was pleased that we kept moving, as the immediate impression was not very attractive. Traveling north we began to see more and more open spaces and things continued to improve until I notice an exceptionally pretty landscape containing all the ingredients that I had hoped to find in this much bespoken island. To my joy and surprise we pulled into a hidden entrance a few hundred meters further down the road and were ushered up a flight of marble stairs to behold a magnificent pool, bracketed by two temple like pyramids with a monumental set of stairs ascending to the villa raised 15 meters above the pool and framed by all kinds of tropical plants and palm trees.
Our luggage was rapidly brought up to the rooms and we were able to climb to the large covered balcony and survey the beautiful view from the top of the house. Sea, volcanoes, a variety of forests, small villages and temples peeping through the trees……….Enough now! I will leave the rest to those of you who will try this experience ………not to forget that David and his trustworthy staff made every effort to take care of our needs and make us comfortable in this paradise………Thank you for all David.
We thought the picture of the pool must surely be for the whole complex. Much to our delight, the pictures are exactly what you get and it is all very private and indeed your own private "majestic villa".
The service can't be beat. Hire the manager Wayan for a very cheap daily rate and he will not only take you wherever you want to go, but also ensure that you get good bargains at all the shops, spas and restaurants while steering you well clear of standard tourist rip-off businesses.
Location is unbelievable, about 10-15 minutes from Ubud. Just far enough away to have beautiful views of the volcano and the unspoiled countryside. You are quite a ways from the beach, but with Wayan driving it really is no problem to venture to the beach for the day. We found it well worth it to stay at such a beautiful and remote villa, and even though we surf we still choose to stay in Ubud away from the beach crowds.
My wife and I have travelled the world, and this place may well be the nicest place we've ever stayed. Also the price is what you'd pay for a tiny room at a decent resort, but instead you get your own private "jungle mansion" with unmatched personal service.
Word missing to describe this time we have,in this villa and with the staff. This villa is magic, the view amazing, the staff exceptional, it was the best place i ever stayed at. People if you have the chance to rent this villa, run!!! The manager will help you like no other, the housekeeping help you with everything you need. And what a pool, what terrace! Very very quiet and perfect place for relax.
Me and my family didn't want to leave this house....
Thanks again for everything....
Four of us stayed at Majestic Villa in March 2011 and we were all very impressed with the villa and with the super friendly and helpful Wayan 1 and 2 (driver/guide and cleaner/cook). The villa is just awesome - we felt very lucky to have this lovely house and pool all to ourselves for a fee less than a simple hotel room in central Ubud. And it was nice being outside of the downtown bustle. For a very small fee Wayan was on hand at any time to take us for great drives through the paddy fields and local communities. Finally the view from the villa represented everything I was looking for in fabled Bali - lush, brilliant green, exotic plants and bird life, an ancient temple over the valley, and the sweeping view that stretches from the beach to the mountains. I strongly recommend Majestic Villa.
This villa, set in a beautiful village in rural Bali, truly takes the breath away. Surrounded by verdant paddy fields, it boasts spectacular views of nearby volcano Gunung Agung and the sea beyond. I had a very relaxing time whilst staying here. The pool area is spectacular with large areas to sit out both day and night. Furnishings and finishings are top-notch and the villa is topped off with a huge open-plan living / sleeping area with panoramic views for miles around. Although it is within easy distance of the majestic cultural centre Ubud which has great restaurants, shops and walks, I found myself spending most of my time relaxing at the villa, where one can easily get the feeling of escape from the throngs. All in all a truly wonderful holiday and a beautiful place to stay.
Majestic Villa is a truly amazing villa. I stayed for a week and had an absolutely amazing time. This is an ideal place to stay if you are wanting to get away from it all. This villa gives you real relaxation, comfort and privacy and the views are out of this world.
We found the location very convenient with the local town of Gianyar just a short drive away and Ubud within easy reach. The beautiful lake and volcano at Batur and the great diving and snorkelling on the less developed east coast are easily reached by car from the villa.
After having checked-in we really didnt want to check out and could have stayed for another week. I m sure we will visit again some day.
Wonderful Villa in beautiful location with spectacular views over forest. Extremely well appointed with own private swimming pool. Private garden with secure gated entrance. Villa, gardens and pool regularly maintained and cleaned. Villa has 2 air-conditioned double bedrooms on ground floor, large entrance hall, kitchen and bathroom area in one of the bedrooms. Upstairs there is a fabulously spacious area with natural wood floors and beams under a thatched roof. From the open veranda which runs the entire length of the building, fantastic views can be enjoyed across the forest in the valley to the mountain in the distance. This upstairs area contains 2 double beds and another bathroom. There are also thatched outbuildings at either end of the swimming pool, one of which contains a double bed.
The location is away from the busy tourist areas in the south but these can be easily accessed by car. There is a car and driver (Wayan) available any time and I would recommend use of this service whenever visits to restaurants, bars, beaches or other points of interest are needed. He is helpful, trustworthy and very reasonably priced. Highly recommended.
The Villa is fantastic! On arrival at the villa you are met by an immaculately kept infinity pool set within a glorious garden area. The villa itself is huge and is accessed by a flight of steps from the pool area. Inside you are met by several airy rooms downstairs, one a bedroom with en-suite.
Take another flight of stairs and you will see an absolutely stunning view of the 'real' Bali, the lush vegetation and amazing landscape is captivating! If you stay on this floor you will be awaken naturally by the sun rising in-front of the villa. During the day and some parts of the night you can hear the local music being played which really adds to the Bali experience.
Although a car is recommended you really do get to see more of the real Bali and it gives you to the perfect opportunity to get away from the typical tourist beaten track!
I would recommend trying snorkelling whilst your there, we found a really quiet beach, rented some snorkels and just went out - the coral and tropical fish were amazing!
Overall I would highly recommend staying at this dream-like Villa, we had a great time and it will be a holiday I will always remember!
