Villa Anastasia - Situation

Villa Anastasia is located in unspoilt countryside and offers panoramic views of Souda Bay. the beautiful white mountains and Drapanos Mount. Ideally situated for those seeking peace, quiet and seclusion yet with all amenities close to hand.

The charming hamlet of Litsarda is a five minute stroll from the house and basic supplies can be purchased from the local pizzeria/mini market alongside delicious pizza (eat in or takeaway). Vamos, a wonderful, traditional Greek village, with a bank, bakers, small supermarkets, two excellent tavernas and the local tourist office is three minutes drive by car. Wonderful beaches at Almerida and Kalives are only 10 minutes drive away.

Close to Litsarda there many other beautiful Apokoron villages to explore such as Gavalochori, Douliana, Xirosterni and Kefalas. The local countryside offers many opportunities for peaceful walks following old donkey trails through stunning scenery.

The whole house is light, airy, spacious and beautifully furnished. All furniture is traditional in style and has been made by a local craftsman.

There is a large, open plan, kitchen, dining area with high, wooden, vaulted ceilings for coolness. The villa is situated some way above sea level and receives plenty of through breeze in the summer months. However, fans are provided in the bedrooms for guests to use.

The pale green kitchen is well equipped with dining table, full size oven, fridge/freezer, washing machine, kettle, toaster and an array of pots, pans and cooking implements.

In the living area there is a traditional style sofa (with full size pull out single bed), working fireplace and well stocked bookcase. The sofa itself has also been used to sleep an additional child. Access to the front and pool terraces is through large, glass fronted french doors. A TV, DVD and CD player are provided for guests to use.

The master bedroom has two single beds, which can be pushed together to make a double, bedside tables, large wardrobe, dressing table/mirror and french doors leading to a terrace, again with fantastic views out over the bay. An iron and hairdryer are available for guests to use.

Next to the master bedroom is a large beautifully tiled bathroom, with dark blue mosaic tiles, complete with full size bath, shower and wc.

The second double bedroom is delightfully furnished with two single beds, a bedside table, chest of drawers and mirror all in painted blue wood. There is access to the terrace through french doors.

Next to this bedroom is a shower room, again beautifully tiled with pale blue mosaic tiles, with shower, sink and wc.

There are many terraces and seating areas from which to admire the lovely views. Garden furniture includes tables, chairs, loungers, sun beds and umbrellas. There is also a small bbq.

The 8m x 4m swimming pool has its own beautiful white stone terrace and catches the sun all day. It’s wonderful to sit here in the evenings sipping your wine looking out over the bay and watching as the bats swoop down over the pool. Parents of small children should note that the pool is 1.5m in depth and does not have a shallow end.

The large roof terrace is the perfect place for sun downers as you watch the sun slip behind the white mountains.

There is a white stone terrace which runs all the way round the house offering opportunities to find shady spots during the day.

Villa Anastasia is the ideal retreat for those seeking peace and tranquility amidst beautiful natural surroundings and will appeal to both families and more independent explorers.

We had a lovely relaxing holiday. The villa is so nicely furnished with a lot of lovely little features. Pool is an excellent size and it has a large garden area. Loved the different areas around the villa where shade could be sought if need be. The only downside for us was the lack of air conditioning(which we knew about beforehand), the fans just blew hot air around, this was after trying to cool the place down in the evening with shutters open to let a breeze through but the breeze that was present during the day seemed to disappear in the evening!! We liked the location but some may think it a little remote, nearest beach 10 min drive down winding roads. There are a couple of villas within sight of this one but for us this was not a problem. We would recommend this villa to anyone wanting to totally relax and get away from it all.

Thank you very much for your review Irene. So glad to hear you enjoyed your stay in Crete. We always welcome feedback from guests so am sorry to hear that you found the villa too hot at night. We always sleep with the doors open which keeps the place cool. However, I appreciate that some guests might not be happy to do this so we will look to purchase air conditioning for the bedrooms for the 2017 season.

Villa Anastasia was as described. Set in beautiful countryside with scenic views. The villa was clean and tidy and beds were comfortable. TV and wifi. We feel the villa was good value for money. The outside patio was wonderful for sitting in for breakfast but was definitely not private as neighbouring villas and the few people/traffic on the lane ( very friendly people from neighbouring areas) could clearly see the pool, seating area and actually inside the lounge if the doors were open. That said, we didn't ask Jane before travel about the level of privacy so no complaints. Jane was most helpful and her friendly communications were most welcomed. There was no bbq as stated in the ad ( despite searching). Not sure what happened there. One note, the pool is 1.5 m in depth with no shallow end, probably ideal for most adults but not for paddlers like me or young children. There was a lengthy power cut one day ( 8 til 2 pm) and we hadn't prior warning. The person in charge of the villa said, when we phoned him, that he didn't think it would have effected Litsarda. Maybe a suggestion for him to pass on this information to all tenants just in case it reaches the villa. Villa location was good for travel to Rethymnon, Georgioupoli, Heraklion and back into Chania ( pronounced Hania). Georgioupoli is a sleepy picturesque town you shouldn't leave til the last day to visit! Crete people are friendly, inclusive, outgoing and are good-humoured. We loved our week in Villa Anastasia and would definitely recommend.

The property is comfortable and rustic. When we arrived the pool terrace seemed to be quite public, however we discovered that the property is so remote that you can go all day without seeing another soul, however during our stay it looks like they were letting the new building next door which will sadly take away the privacy.
Watching the sun rise and set from the roof terrace was quite spectacular. Any issues arising whilst we were there were dealt with in hours, great service.
Lovely drives out in the direction of Kalives and Georgiopoli and we went to Lake Varna 3 times. See John the English Butcher in Vamos for your meat and other English products.

Many thanks for your review. We have just come back from Crete and the two house adjacent to ours are not being rented out at the moment. We met up with the owner who is landscaping the plot and planting olive trees over the winter. We are also having some work done on our garden including the planting of a number of oleanders to preserve the villa's privacy.

This was our second holiday at this villa and once again we had a fabulous time. The accommodation is excellent and provides all the home comforts you could want in a typical Cretan style.
The welcome gifts were superb again. We particularly liked the bowl of cherries.
We also welcomed the addition of a comfortable sofa in the living area.
The swimming pool had recently been newly tiled and was lovely. The people who came to clean it during our stay were very friendly and helpful, giving us tips on places to visit.
The whole area around the villa is magnificent. The views from the windows and the roof terrace are stunning.
We explored the area all around and found the information folder very useful with details of routes to places of interest and times to get there.
Nearby Almirida, Kalives and Georgopolis were our particular favourites but we also enjoyed Chania, Frankocastelloand Souda Bay. All definately worth a visit.
Overall a fantastic holiday again with friendly correspondence from Jane, the owner.
Thank you very much. We wil definately be going again.

From Westbury, United Kingdom Jun 2012

The property was set in a lovely location with a distant sea view to the front and mountains behind and to the side. The villa was clean and tidy and well equipped. The welcome pack in the fridge was very helpful. The only small criticism of the kitchen was the very small freezer compartment, but apart from that all was excellent. It was quite hot when we were there in July and we had a few problems with invading ants but nothing a spray or two did not take care of.
We thought the pool was excellent and we gave it plenty of use, along with a number of the beaches nearby and on the south coast.
Whilst the villa is in a lovely quiet area, there are some part finished houses adjacent and we did experience intermittent builder activities while we were there. This did not detract too much from our enjoyment as it was not all day every day.
All in all, we had an excellent time at Villa Anastasia and will consider returning in future.

Well maintained and was everything we anticipated. Dialogue with owners beforehand was excellent in its usefullness. Might be handy to have Vamos and Litsarda shown in Greek as well as English on the instructions we missed one signpost which cost us half an hour on arrival because Vamos was only written in Greek thereby missing the turning for the uninitiated Greek Road signs are lets say variable.

We stayed here in May 2007. We found the property to be of excellent standard and totally exceeded our expectations. Finding the villa was easier than expected if you consider the location of it. This was of course helped by the accurate directions given by the owner. It is only the last 200 metres that is actually by track ,and the rest is asphalted. A car is absolutely essential as the nearest main village (Vamos) is a half hours walk or five minute drive away. This does add to the remoteness of the place, but if you want peace and quiet, total privacy and beautiful views then Villa Anastasia has it in abundence. That is why we chose it in the first place. The sun terrace is absolutely brilliant with 360 degree views, especially down the hill and across the bay and in the evening it is just as nice where the only sound you will here is the jingling of a sheep's bell. Talking of which, you will encounter a herd walking down the road in the mornings or early evening but that just adds to the charm. Just let them walk by,they're harmless. The facilities in the place are first class. The owners have left nothing to chance. There are even candles and a torch in case of a power cut ,which are not uncommon in Greece. The crockery and cutlery are of good quality, better than what you normally get in standard accomadations. There are enough power points that even come with a couple of UK adaptors. The property is also very clean and the pool, which is lovely, is also cleaned twice a week by a friendly English couple. N.B. It can get a little bit windy being slightly higher up so use plenty of sun cream. All in all an excellent villa if you want to get away from it all and just to chill out. We are already looking forward to booking next year.
