House overview - owner's description

Villa Polyxeni is a wonderful traditional stone house just a few steps from the sea. Built more than 100 years ago, recently renovated, is located on the left side of the village of Halki, when entering the harbor by boat. Covering a total area of 120 square meters it consists of a large main room of 60 square meters, an inner courtyard with access to a second country style bedroom of 15 sqm and the bathroom / WC. On the front is the large balcony with a lovely view over the village and the endless sea. The main room of 60 sqm with its high ceilings and the traditional wooden roof contains a raised (2m high) double bed directly overlooking the sea, There is, a fully equipped kitchen (refrigerator with freezer, small oven, dishes, glasses, many cookware, blender, toaster, juicer, coffee machine, etc), a dining table with 6 chairs, a living room with two sofas and armchairs, cable TV, wardrobe, WiFi Internet, board games etc.
In the inner courtyard under the shade, provided by the white-purple bougainvilleas, is the second sleeping room an outdoor shower, a small portable barbecue and another table with umbrella and chairs.
The unique balcony of 30 square meters is exactly above sea level and has a breathtaking view - probably one of the best of the island- that will leave you speechless. You look straight to the harbor, the settlement and the open sea, heading to Rhodes, where you can admire the crystal clear emerald sea filled with colorful fishing boats, the quiet dusk, or the magnificent sunrise. There is a large table with chairs, 2 sofas and 4 sunbeds that will enable you to enjoy endless moments of peace. Just below the house there is a small 'beach' for direct access to the crystal clear waters of Halki's 'natural swimming pool '.
Villa Polyxeni is very well situated so everything is easy to reach in less than 5-15 min on foot.
Please note that cleaning during your stay is optional at a fee of 30 euros

"Charming, homely Villa with fabulous view." We were met from the boat, escorted to the Villa and texted during our stay by the owner to ensure we were happy. Thorough information on all aspects of the Island was provided. The Villa was beautiful, with views of everything and easy access to the village. Swimming spot below the Villa was much used by us! No complaints at all, we would return to Villa Polyxeni tomorrow! 22 Jun 2014 5/5 "Welcoming, Friendly, Brilliant, Peaceful, Gastronomic Excellence" My wife and I have hi powered jobs in the UK and we were seeking a total break from the rat race with rest and relaxation at the top of the list. We found it in spades in Panos villa and Halki. What a wonderful peaceful, relaxing, friendly island taking you back to a world before IT (although WiFi was also provided in the villa) and pre the hustle and bustle of life these days. Panos had thought about absolutely everything that you would need on a self catering holiday, right down to a glass of chilled Ouzo on arrival. He picked us up from the ferry and we walked up the narrow character streets and alleys to the villa (about three minutes from the centre) a little truck picked up our luggage on arrival (and also on departure). The villa was fantastic, splendid views and right on the edge of the town (village) which had everything available with a superb selec tion of Tavernas and restaurants. The facilities provided in the villa were second to none and the accommodation was luxurious and the sun was always somewhere on the large veranda from sunrise to sunset. The bed was elevated on a mezzanine floor to give superb views across the harbour, as long as you had a head for heights an unusual but thoughtful and impressive arrangement. Panos was a very intelligent , professional, accommodating and friendly guy who could not do enough to make us feel welcome and with a plethora of tips and advice about life, restaurants and geography of this unspoilt island. He made himself available all the time but never in your face. We would highly recommend Halki to anyone who wants peace and would most highly recommend Panos and his villa for the place to stay on that wonderful Island - Thanks Panos we will return......... and recommend you to our friends and family too 12 Jun 2014 5/5 "Wow! Beautiful Villa" We have just returned from a 7 night stay here and wish we had booked longer. The villa is stylish and elegant yet welcoming and beautifully equipped. It is undoubtedly the best accommodation we have ever had in our 14 years of holidaying on Greek islands. The villa is private and quiet with amazing views - no exaggeration to say possibly the best on the island and has everything you could need - music system, TV, radio, free wi-fi and an excellent kitchen (with great ice dispenser). There is also a wonderful sun terrace balcony and private shady garden to keep you cool. Just down the steps at the front of the property there is access to the crystal clear waters of the Aegean - wonderful. We bought a lilo and enjoyed relaxing on the water watching the local boats going to and fro. I must say that the owners, Panos and Lily, were incredibly helpful with every aspect of our holiday. They are lovely kind people and it seemed that nothing was too much trouble for them. In the town there are three supermarkets, a bakery, a couple of gift shops and plenty of tavernas serving lovely food. There is also an ATM but it does not always work so I would advise taking enough money or travellers cheques to get you through your stay. Halki is a quiet, friendly island and, thankfully has not yet been spoilt by tourism. It is the perfect destination to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. This was, I think, the most relaxing holiday we have ever had.

The island of Chalki (Halki) is linked by boat with islands like Kassos, Karpathos, and Kreta, but mainly and most frequently with Rhodes and Kos. The best way to reach Chalki is to fly to the International Airport of Rhodes, with one of the numerous charter or regular flights, and then catch a correspondence. Outside airport, taxis queue to take you to one of the two ports from where you can catch a ferry that goes to Chalki. The first port is in Rhodes Town (14 kilometres from the airport), where you can catch the big ferryboat of ANEK Lines.( Usually during summer time it three times per week.
