Villa overview - owner's description

Traditional villa near Athens. The interior is cozy, decorated with modern furniture. The outdoor area with the amazing view offers an unforgettable experience!

Sounio is about one hour away from the center of Athens. The drive is a comfortable one once you get to The Attiki Odos. Sounio was a place of worship. It is most famous for its splendid Temple of Poseidon, which was built in the 5th century BC., but it was also important for it's strategic position that guarded the waterways toward Athens. Ancient Athenians had a garrison of triremes stationed at Sounio to act as the avant-garde sentinel that acted as an alarm and the first line of defense. The temple atop the hill was visible for miles from the sea and signaled to approaching ships that they were entering a place of culture, power, and prestige. Apart from a world-renowned archaeological site, Sounio is an upscale summer home location for Athenians. Construction flourished between the 1960s and 1970s, with massive yet minimal villas and condos erected. Sounio is one of the most expensive areas in Greece, with the value of some homes exceeding twenty million euros.

This luxurious villa is situated between Lavrio and Sounio facing the temple of Poseidon. A few minutes away from the villa you can find a supermarket, a pharmacy and a 24 hour bakery shop. It is a private residence of 200 sq. m., designed and decorated in a traditional Aegean style.

Entering the Villa, guests are welcomed to a spacious and cozy living room with fireplace that opens onto a large terrace with outdoor seating and breathtaking views. On the right side, you can find the kitchen and the dining area. Next to the kitchen you can find the internal staircase. A few steps down and you will find yourself in an area with one of the four bedrooms, a living room and a WC, which can operate as a guest area or playroom for the kids of the family.
On the first floor, one finds one master bedroom (en-suite) with private veranda, one bedroom with double bed and private veranda and a third bedroom with two single beds which has a window with sea and mountain view. Located on this level there is also a family bathroom.

The villa has two different outdoor areas. One at the front and one at the back side. In both areas, you can find a lounge and a dining area where guests can enjoy a meal or drink while enjoying the most magnificent view of the Aegean Sea as well as the breathtaking sunrise. You can also take advantage of the private beach which is exactly outside the garden and can not be accessed by the public!

It is fully furbished, fully equipped and has a private parking.

This villa targets guests who wish to vacate in style and comfort as well as those who will appreciate its proximity to Athens, the staggering beaches and its privacy.

The property is exactly as described and really is stunning. It is part of a small - and very quiet - modern development. There is secure parking - the only gripe I would have is that the location shown on the map here is wrong - it is two bays further west! It is very well equipped - including, for example, four different kinds of coffee! Speaking - and reading - Greek would have been an advantage as all the instructions etc are in Greek - but with the exception of the DVD player - that didnt really cause us any problems. The property has wifi which, for us at least, was important.
As for the area, we were (pleasantly) surprised at how undeveloped it was. The tourism feels well under control - and, at times, actually too undeveloped. The Running Museum in Marathon - for example - seemed amazed that anyone might actually want to visit them. Athens is stunning - on tip would be to drive to Dukissis Plakiendias where there is free parking, then take the Metro into the city centre.
All in all, thoroughly recommended. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for.
