We stayed at this wonderful house for two weeks last summer. We had a group of six ranging from 9 years old to over 70, including two grandmothers. This was a fantastic experience in every sense. We had been to Naplio before, and knew that we loved the area. This house made our stay even better. The amount of space we had was more than I would have expected. The house was beautiful. The courtyard was a magnificent place to relax in the shade or during the evening. I loved living in a home during our stay. There were a lot of books to read, toys for the kids, and everything we needed was in great condition. I enthusiastically recommend this house for other families looking to for a relaxing base from which to explore the Peloponnese...unless your stay conflicts with our next trip.

Tis Mammys is a great house in a great location. We were very happy we chose it and thoroughly enjoyed our time there and in Nafplio. The house is a very traditional Greek home, and its a nice experience. The garden is fantastic as are the balconies with breathtaking views of the roofs of the old town, the port, and the sea. The house is huge (we didnt even use 2 of the bedrooms), and it was so nice for our family of 5 to be able to spread out.
The bathrooms are traditional style and not modern, but it adds to the local charm. The downstairs bathroom has a shower, but its not enclosed at all, so you have to use care not to soak your stuff when youre in there. The upstairs bathroom has a tub with a hand-held shower head. The hose is short, so you cant stand while using it. Again, these were all fine and part of the local experience, but its nice to know exactly what to expect.
We had a phenomenal stay at Tis Mammys, but it wasnt without issues. First of all, as some others have indicated, the check-in process was bumpy at best. We called the owner (Dorothea - lives in the UK), and she didnt answer. So, we called the next 2 numbers provided to us, and no answer. Dorothea called back immediately and gave us a different phone number to contact her mother. Her mother told us that we couldnt check into the house until 5:00, and it was 4:00, and we were supposed to have been able to get in at 3:00. When I pushed back on this, she got a bit flustered (her English is minimal) and hung up on me. After a few more calls, both with Dorothea and her mother, we were told to walk to the church near the house and wait to be met by yet another person. We waited 20 minutes, and a woman and a young girl (presumably her daughter, serving as a translator). It was a bit nerve-wracking not to have a single point of contact in Nafplio. Dorothea was very apologetic about the situation.
One suggestion is to have a notebook explaining various things about the house. For instance, the hot water was turned off when we arrived and nobody told us how to turn it on. When I called Dorotheas mother again, she gave me incorrect instructions (again, the language barrier). It would also be nice to know how to operate the washer and dryer, dishwasher, etc. But, its great to have those modern conveniences!
The house is a bit complicated, due to 2 locking entrances, one for upstairs (5 bedrooms and 1 bathroom) and one for downstairs (1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, kitchen, living room). So, we had to do a bit of key juggling to make sure we could always get into the different parts of the house. Again, this is a minor point, but it is nice to be aware of it.
The listing for the house says that it is air conditioned, but 3 of the bedrooms upstairs and the 1 bedroom downstairs do not have their own units. There is a unit in the upstairs hallway and one each in the living room and kitchen downstairs, which helps cool the bedrooms if the doors are left open, but it is not ideal. It would also be nice if the house had wifi, but Syntagma Square (literally at the bottom of the (60-70) stairs to the house has free wifi.
I have mentioned several issues, and I know that this review sounds very negative. That isnt my intention. I read these reviews to get a full sense of a place, so I include these comments for that purpose.
Again, we had a fantastic stay, and I absolutely recommend staying at Tis Mammys!

The house is really nice, comfortable and absolutely homey. Very all located in the old part of the city of Nafplion. We went during winter time and the heating was really good. It is a fully functional house made by the owners for themselves: this is great because it has no "rental" flavour that make houses "fake". Highly recommended :-)

The property was an authentic Greek village home.
It had a beautiful garden that provided shade and a peaceful place to relax after our busy days. It was close to everthing (shops, stores, and plenty of place to eat!) but far enough so that it was quiet during the evenings. The Nafplio area provided us with beaches as well as tourist sites...more than enough to keep us busy during the week.
When I called the owner to ask her a couple of things, she answered the phone immediately and was extremely helpful.
My entire family fell in love with the area and the house.
Thank you to the owners for sharing their very lovely home!

We very much enjoyed our stay at this great home in Nafplio! The location of this house was perfect. Steps away from the square and great restaurants and shops, but in the courtyard it was very private and relaxing. It is a roomy and comfortable house, which is a great break from small hotel rooms. We spent may hours in the pleasant courtyard. While the parking is a bit away, trotting through the ally, narrow roads and climbing the stairs shows the character of this great town. We received a warm welcome from the local hosts, including a trip to the grocery and a recommendation for restaurants and activities. We would love to visit Nafplio and stay in this beautiful home again sometime!
