The upper level has renovated wooden floors and traditional ceilings, one suite bedroom with a second living room/office which could easily be converted to an auxiliary separate bedroom, accessed through an inner door, two more independent bedrooms, a second bathroom and the large corridor from the central entrance with its old stone steps to the street. This tastefully restored traditional house is in the centre of a well preserved area of Eressos village, where there are some of the most beautiful old style stone houses, very close to the Byzantine church of Virgin Mary (Panagia), built in 1100, and just a five minute walk from the village square with its traditional restaurants and cafés in the shade of the old plane trees.
It is close to the seashore, just 3.5 km from the wonderful Blue Flag sandy beach of Skala Eressos, far from tourist crowds, with many options for trekking around the picturesque valley (kampos) between Eressos and Skala Eressos, or visiting the less busy beaches in the area.
The wonderful 3km long sandy beach of skala Eressos has clear water, picturesque coffee houses, restaurants and elegant bars on wooden terraces along the seafront. The more tranquil part of the beach lies beyond the river, where you can swim in the sea while the seabirds walk around.
Eressos lies at the south west side of Lesvos island, a distance of 90 km from capital Mytilene and international airport, 1.5 hours drive through picturesque landscapes of silvery olive groves, lush pine forests and dramatic volcanic areas. Is the ideal place for summer or winter holidays. Built 3,5 km inland from the seafront, which is known as Skala Eressos, the village, with its narrow winding lanes, nestles among inactive volcanic mountains, and preserves its traditional colors on the wooden windows and doorways of the stone houses, with red tiled roves and yards full of flowers.
One of the most interesting attractions of the area where the villa is located is the Petrified Forest, a miraculous creation of nature before 20.000.000 years and the museum of Natural History in nearby village Sigri.
The coast rough road to Sigri, is good for treks or excursions on mountain bikes and leads through parts of the petrified forest to beautiful secluded beaches, at a distance of 5 to 8 km. It is the natural habitat for many species of birds, and is suitable for bird watching, especially throughout springtime.
