Communication from time of booking and clear directions to the villa helped get our holiday off to a really good start. Villa Dimitris is set a a peaceful olive grove, a short distance from the town of Kalyves where there is a wide range of shops and restaurants catering for everyones needs. The villa was well equipped, and we especially liked the options of different seating areas which were well furnished for outdoor living at different times of the day. Having been to Crete several times now we didnt feel the need to go out exploring, just put our feet up, relaxed, and made use of the super pool. We would certainly recommend Villa Dimitris and Beach Villas to our friends and family, and

This is a wonderful location and gives you a sense that it is a real village and not a resort. The second night there they were celebrating St John's festival and held a village festival with the village square decked out with tables and chairs. Music, dancing and food (tickets were only €10 per person). The owner was very friendly and welcoming and the room was meticulously clean and maintained throughout our stay with three changes of bedding and towels in our 8 night stay. Choise of places to eat within easy walking and Kalyves offers lets of opportunities. Good clean beaches with not too many umbrellas and beach beds.

Villa Francesca is set on a beautiful hillside location. A short drive to the beach, lovely restaurants and shops. I would recommend a car of staying at the villa. The children loved having a private pool. Eating out on the veranda was lovely with great views of the surrounding countryside. The owner was very quick to come back to us via email with any queries we had. Overall we had a lovely relaxing week and would definitely return

The villa provides generous space and every modern implement you need and, above all, two terraces, one on each floor, with a magnificent view of the Cretan Sea, which is only yards away. The owner is a very amiable, unintrusive person. There are 24-h taxis as well as car rentals and buses, and beautiful places worth visiting around. This said, you may get sunburnt even on a cool April day, so don’t forget to apply sunscreen and wear suitable clothes when going out.

About Crete

Villas in Crete

Combine Crete’s claim to have the longest summers in the Mediterranean with its 650 miles of coastline and you’ve got the perfect beach holiday island.

White, sandy beaches, romantic coves and warm waters – whether you are looking for a beach resort complete with a lively town and amenities, such as a villa holiday in the Lasithi area, or a remote, sun-drenched patch to escape to – consider the Rethymno region – Crete will meet your needs.

Away from the beach, the landscape of Crete will take your breath away; the majestic Samaria Gorge; untamed hillsides; rugged, wild mountains. The tallest of the mountains was considered in ancient times to be the birthplace of Zeus, and the island abounds with mythological references; King Minos and the Minotaur were famous legendary residents, the maze-like Palace of Knossos.

So for ancient wonders, spectacular scenery and a beach paradise, check out our holiday villas in Crete.

There is a magical feel to the Greek Island of Crete. Perhaps its the mythical landscape, covered in ancient ruins and old stone churches built into the cliffs? Or perhaps its the almost supernatural quality of the clear turquoise seas surrounding it? Either way there is something special about Crete, the largest of the Greek Islands, and here are 9 photos to prove it...

Greece is home to a variety of islands and various administrative regions; including The Cyclades, The Aegean Islands and many more, each one has its own customs and traditions. But Crete has so much individuality you’d be forgiven for believing it was a country in its own right. Crete is the largest Greek island and the most populated. It brags of a highly varied landscape, with white-sandy beaches, that look as if they have been lifted from a postcard, snow-tipped mountains peeking out in the distance and it’s peppered with bewitching villages. Crete was once home to one of the oldest advanced societies in Europe, 4000 years ago the Minoans lived there and you can still find remnants of their existence, including the famous palace of Knossos.
