Apartment overview - owner's description

Lovely modern and spacious apartment with incredible views above Kerasia and San Stefanos in Corfu. Shared swimming pool and only a short walk from bars and restaurants.

Overview

This modern, spacious apartment shares a swimming pool with Villelmina House, which is situated above it. The views are absolutely incredible, and are perhaps the greatest asset of this attractive apartment. Only a short distance from the up-market resort of St Stephano with its popular quay-side tavernas, and a few minutes drive to busy Kassiopi (offering a great variety of shopping, entertainment and dining opportunities) and, we feel, situated in an ideal location. The village of Sinies with its bakery, supermarket and two traditional coffee-shops (cafeneia) are within a few minutes walk of the property.

inside description
The apartment is light, airy and air-conditioned. The lounge area has comfortable furnishings with Satellite TV (free channels only). French doors open onto a magnificent tiled balcony.
Whether enjoying an outdoor meal, reading or just relaxing, you will find it very hard to ignore the glorious views spread out before you.

The large covered private balcony is a very special retreat at any time of day, with its glorious uninterrupted views. Perhaps at night especially, though, when the twinkling lights from the coastal resorts and passing ships lend a very romantic feel to an evening meal.

Kitchen and dining area, lounge opening on to covered balcony. Master double bedroom also opening on to balcony.

The master double bedroom is prettily decorated and has French doors opening directly on to the main balcony.
There is plenty of hanging space in the wardrobes.
The second bedroom is a twin, again very nicely decorated and with built-in wardrobes.

The bathroom is situated between the two bedrooms, and has a half bath with shower unit over, w.c and vanity unit with mirror.

The modern kitchen is equipped with a full-sized cooker and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle and toaster, with a table and chairs for eating inside.

The pool is located below the villa, and accessed by a flight of stone-flagged steps. Thanks to its elevated position and south-facing aspect, it enjoys sun almost all day long.

Location and nearby resorts
Sinies - Above Kerasia

Sinies is the name of an entire area, on the hillsides above Kerasia and St Stephano. The centre is old-established, and has amenities that cater for the local people as well as the visitors - a well-run supermarket with a surprising array of goods and an English-speaking proprietor, and a very traditional cafeneion that seems to be the local operations centre! There is also a bakery and pastry shop. Sinies lies just off the main road, and it is only about ten minutes drive from here to the busy resort of Kassiopi. Roads lead off from Sinies in all directions - down to the coast, to the very pretty harbour of St Stephano with its shops, restaurants and other amenities, and also to the enchanting bay and beach of Kerasia. Uphill in the opposite direction, roads lead up to tiny mountainside hamlets such as Porta, Kokkini and Kokkokylas, with their ancient stone houses. There is fine walking to be found in these upland areas, amidst some of Corfus most unspoiled scenery.

Saint Stephanos

Agios (Saint) Stephanos is an extremely pretty fishing village, located between Kalami and Kassiopi. This little fishing village has now become a very popular up market resort with many stylish holiday villas. A thriving local Greek community welcomes its visitors with the warmth and hospitality for which Greece is famous. With several excellent tavernas, 2 cocktail bars, 2 supermarkets, a gift shop and boat hire, it is the perfect base for a holiday.

Kerasia - Corfu

The long sweeping beach of Kerasia is one of the most beautiful on the island, with excellent swimming and snorkelling. Ideal for people who are looking for peace and quiet, to laze in the sun or enjoy a quiet read. One taverna and a small tourist shop will cater to your needs. Although Kerasia may be too quiet for teenage children, nearby Saint Stephanos, with its two cocktail bars and several tavernas will certainly entertain them.

Kassiopi - Corfu

Kassiopi is a lively resort at the North East corner of Corfu. A charming little fishing village, with a traditional port. Tourism has of course had its influence, but down at the harbour you can still find local fishermen bringing home the morning catch. Tavernas, shops, beaches and bars offer something for everyone. The teens in your party will appreciate the evening life - with several music bars and low key clubs, it is a safe environment for them to meet other friends.

Kouloura

The tiny fishing village of Kouloura is a working harbour, where many of the locals moor their boats. The view of the harbour is probably one of the most famous in the area, having been painted by many visiting artists. The main house is owned by the Italian Agnelli family (with Ferrari connection!) and is used as their holiday home. The nearby Taverna specializes in locally caught fish. Kouloura is an excellent example of a small traditional Greek bay that has not been influenced by tourism.

Avlaki - Corfu

Situated between the village of Saint Stephanos to the south and the livelier resort of Kassiopi to the North, and fringed by just a few villas and two tavernas, Avlaki is relatively unknown to most visitors to Corfu. It is a beautiful long curving bay with a gently sloping shore and fabulously clear sea. A excellent bay for dinghy sailing and sail-boarding, although during the afternoon a welcome cooling Northerly sea breeze often springs up which can make the water a bit choppy. On Sundays this beach is very popular with the locals.

Loved staying here. Pool was wonderful, view amazing, apartment so well equipped and nice. Needed a car to get to beaches, tavernas etc but a supermarket just down the road.
The meal that was left for us when we arrived was very welcome and very tasty.
All in all an extremely well equipped apartment and would definitely return.

“Great place to stay in a lovely area of Corfu” We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Vilelmina. The apartment is very well equipped and had everything we needed for our stay. We particularly appreciated the welcome pack and of course Katerina’s delicious casserole! The view from the balcony is even better than it appears on the website – just looking at it made us feel instantly relaxed. We spent many an hour happily watching the many different vessels sail past. The pool is large with plenty of loungers and shade and is the perfect place to appreciate the view. Vilelmina is in a great part of Corfu – quiet, relaxing and peaceful - although Kassiopi, which is more lively, is close by if you are looking for something a little less laid back. The small supermarket in Sinies is very convenient and well stocked and there are many great tavernas within a ten minute drive. All in all we loved our stay at Vilelmina and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others. Jill, Martin and kids August 2012

"We have had a lovely holiday !" It was lovely meeting you.We have had a lovely holiday in your apartment & really enjoyed swimming every day in the pool. We were very tired when we arrived but Katerina`s cooking made us feel much better! The views are stunning and the apartment is very well equipped. We never tired of looking at the scenery from the balcony and enjoyed listening the owls in the evening(with a glass of wine). Wishing you a succesfull season and hope we meet again in the future. Review Fantastic location Review Submitted: September 2, 2010 Date of Stay: August 2010 This is a truly wonderful apartment we would recommend it for families. The location is fantastic with a supermarket + take away very near but also the bays avlaki, san stefano, kerasia all equally easy to get to.The views from the spacious balcony and the pool are breathtaking and the pool is a very good size.Overall we`ve had a wonderful time here-Thank you so much! Perfect location, outstanding views! Review Submitted: October 1, 2010 Date of Stay: September 2010 Hello Leo Just a small e-mail to say what a great time we had at Vilelmina , James and Lucy are really missing the pool and we are missing the veranda and the view. Both myself and Bernice thought that the personal touch ( nothing was too much trouble) was so much nicer than the usual villa/agency experience that we are used to. so thanks a lot and we look forward to seeing you both next year. Very comfortable apartment with stunning sea views Review Submitted: October 2, 2010 Date of Stay: June 2010 This is a very comfortable and well equipped apartment, with lovely sea views towards Albania. The infinity pool (with plentiful loungers) is a big plus, although being at a much lower level there are lots of steps to negotiate. Good exercise if youve forgotten the suntan lotion! Parents with young children might find this a disadvantage, as would people with disabilities. When eating in, we took our meals on the spacious terrace. This is in shade for most of the day, being under the Villelmina House terrace, which would be a bonus during the hottest months, although it might feel a bit cool in the evenings earlier in the year. The property is built to a very high standard and is very well maintained by Leo and Katerina. We had a power cut during our stay and they could not have been more helpful. The bathroom even has a shower curtain, quite unusual in Corfu! Although there is a shop and a small taverna within 200 metres or so, a car is essential if one wants more choice (there is a first class taverna and an excellent shop within a 10 or 15 minute drive). Getting to the local beaches also requires a car, unless one wants to stagger down a rugged track and puff ones way back up again. To sum up: the apartment itself is excellent and the owners delightful, but a car is necessary. One cant just stroll down to the beach or out to eat.

A relaxing staying at "vilelmina" Review Submitted: October 5, 2010 Date of Stay: September 2010 Dear Leonidas and Katerina we have enjoyed our stay very much.Thank you for the delicious food,it was enough for two nights, which we enjoyed at the balcony. The view is fantastic. Thank you also for the beach towels and hairdrier. Great having lots of hot water, too. We expect to see you both again soon! With best wishes, James and Libby

"We would love to return some day" Review Submitted: August 10, 2011 Date of Stay: August 2011 We found the apartment even better in reality than the pictures can portray. The apartment is spacious and well equipped and the peaceful location on the hillside and resulting views are superb. The pool was immaculate, and one felt privileged to be swimming in it. Leonidas was extremely hospitable, and it was reassuring to know he could have been contacted should we have needed to. Easy to follow driving directions from the airport were also supplied. The meal, wine and other basic groceries waiting for us on arrival were very welcome too. Stephen, Sandra, Lewis and Alex York, UK

I am from Corfu and i live with my family 3km away from Vilelmina. I always work in this area and I am very happy that I have met so many good customers that became very good friends. Before many years we had a dream, to build a nice property in my grandfather`s land. The location was unique and we decided to do our best to make our dream come true. So after many years of savings and very very hard work we managed to finish it 6 years ago. Every piece of the house it`s a piece of ourselves and now our only will is to do our best for our customers and make them feel like home and more than that if possible!
