Castle Poggelow was built in 1848 in the English Tudor style by architect Friedrich Hitzig, a pupil of Schinkel, and was formerly owned by the well-known family called Bassewitz. This castle was completely restored during 1996-2004 retaining the original English style which is a harmonious combination of contemporary and Swedish design. Today the castle is a listed building and is the ideal setting for a sophisticated holiday in the countryside or for family celebrations of all kinds. From castle terrace and balcony you have a view of a small lake. Up to 20 people can stay here in a total of 7 comfortably furnished apartments; each equipped with its own kitchen or kitchenette and is provided with ample space. On the ground floor there is a large dining room for festivities and in the basement you will find the sauna, solarium and fitness room. Furthermore, there is a billiard room, a large covered terrace and a heated / covered swimming pool measuring 32 square metres. There is a small catamaran provided on the castle pond. This is firmly anchored and can accommodate up to 8 people and is provided with garden furniture to enjoy your coffee or for just enjoying the sun. A rowboat is also available. The castle is only rented as a unit. On the ground floor you will find the Kensington apartment which has a living room equipped with TV, bedroom with double bed, kitchen and the bathroom is fitted with a bathtub and toilet. The Oxford apartment offers a living room / bedroom with double bed, TV and bath / toilet. In the apartment Harwich you will find a living room / bedroom with double bed, and the bedroom 1 is equipped with a bunk bed, bathroom with a shower / toilet, shared kitchen and lounge area, fireplace, a large and a small hall. On the 1st floor you have the apartment Stockholm which is equipped with a living / dining room, bedroom with a double bed, kitchen and a bathroom with a shower / toilet. In Gothenburg apartment you will find the living room, bedroom with double bed, kitchen, bath tub / toilet. Apartment Malmö has a living room, bedroom with double bed, balcony, kitchen and bathrooms are provided with shower / toilet. In the apartment Uppsala you will find a living room bedroom with double bed, kitchen and bathroom with shower / toilet. Apartment Helsingborg has a living room, dining room with kitchenette, bedroom with double bed, bathroom with shower / toilet. On the second floor you will find the living room and a bedroom with double bed. Billiards is provided in the hall and the basement has a sauna, solarium, gym, fireplace, shower/WC, table tennis, darts, washing machine and a dryer. Poggelow is located on the northern side of Mecklenburg Switzerland and in a rural idyll, surrounded by woods and fields. This is an ideal place for a ride. You can bring your four-legged friends! There are up to 4 horses in the horse shelter located on Palace Square. The castle is easily reached via the A19 and A20 motorways. From Hamburg or Berlin it takes about 2.5 hours. The Baltic Sea Coast is located at an hour's drive. Cost of energy / oil / water are based on usage. Final cleaning fee is Euro 20 per person, minimum Euro 390 to be paid locally. The deposit is Euro 1000 while youth groups have to deposit Euro 2000.

When do I receive directions to the house and key collection information?
Directions and details on how to collect the keys will be emailed to you after you have paid for the booking in full. You will receive full details about your booking including directions to the property and a booking voucher that you need to hand over to the property manager when you receive the keys. In some instances you may need to collect the keys from the property manager’s office or some other location which is not the actual property you have booked to stay in. Please note that the agent provides us with the GPS co-ordinates in the travel directions and we communicate these to you; you should contact the property manager if these are unclear.
Bed sizes / bedrooms
The exact dimensions will vary from property to property but the agent has specified that bed sizes are as follows:
- A single bed is typically 70cm to 85 cm wide and 180cm to 190cm deep.
- A double bed is typically 140cm to 180cm wide and 180cm to 190cm deep.
- A “grand lit” is a European double bed, suitable for couples, and can be smaller than the usual UK or American doubles. It is typically 130cm wide but in some instances may be wider; it is approximately 180cm to 190cm deep.
A bunk bed is two single beds, one on top of another. Some properties also have pull-out beds, sofa beds and/or bed chairs; in a few properties the bed can be low in a wooden frame on the floor. The beds often have terry cloth sheet mattress protectors to protect the mattresses; please use them with the bed linen.
Some properties may have a loft as a bedroom: this is usually an open room at the top of the house with sloping walls and mattresses on a low bed or on the floor itself. You need to climb a ladder to reach this room. Lofts are very popular with children but may not be suitable for adults or elderly guests.
If a property has an annexe then it will typically be a building attached to the main property or a small self-contained building. Annexes often have no central heating.
Please note that bedrooms in holiday rentals are usually not that large; you should refer to the floor plan to get a sense of size.

What do you mean by prepayment of consumption cost for electricity, gas, water etc.?
You will be charged for the amount of electricity, water, gas and other utilities that you use – the local agent will perform the relevant meter readings upon your arrival and when you depart. However you will need to prepay a deposit of €100.00 per night on arrival. If your usage costs less than the amount you have prepaid then you will get a refund when you depart; however if you have used more than you have prepaid then you will be asked to pay the balance.
Do I need to do anything to arrange any pre-booked optional extras?
If you select any optional extras as part of your booking then you will need to confirm details with the local property manager after the booking has been fully paid. You will receive the property manager’s contact details (phone number and/or email address) after you have paid for the booking and you should contact him or her to confirm details. If you cannot get hold of the property manager then please contact the Clickstay support team for further assistance.
Please note: you do not need to contact the property manager about any compulsory extras such as final cleaning (i.e. cleaning upon departure).
