The Neighborhood:

Mannheim is one of the most popular shopping cities in SouthWest Germany. You will definitely find what you are looking for and maybe also things youve never even heard of. From "affordable to "luxurious, from "basic to "extravagant" - Mannheim has everything that makes your heart beat faster.

Before setting off on your shopping spree, we have a rule of thumb and a few tips for you: There are some streets in the Quadrates with names instead of the usual letter-number combinations, e.g. Breite Strasse, Planken, Fressgass and Kunststrasse. Together they are the heart of Mannheims shopping world.

The Paradeplatz, which is surrounded by Stadthaus N1 and various shops, department stores and banks, is the central meeting point in the city centre. Starting from here, you reach the pedestrian zone "Breite Strasse, where you can find diverse in-shops for fashion, shoes, mobile phones and much more.

Take some time at the Marktplatz to immerse yourself in the inimitable flair of the weekly Mannheim market. It takes place every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday offering many fresh delicacies, against the historic backdrop of the old town hall and the parish church. Cosy cafés invite you to linger there for a while.

The "Planken is Mannheims main shopping street and one of the most popular in Germany. It is also the number one address for shoes and clothing as well as shops with culinary delicacies. It stretches from the town hall via the Paradeplatz into the pedestrian zone with its many street cafes up to the Water Tower. Covered passages with exclusive specialised stores link the "Planken with the adjacent parallel streets, the "Fressgass known for jewellery, leather, stationery and tea as well as the "Kunststrasse with the square "Kapuzinerplanken. Markets and diverse events are regularly taking place on this well-known square right at the city centre.

Your shopping tour is completed by Friedrichsring and Kaiserring with their numerous restaurants, stores, small cafés and pubs.

Getting Around:

If you arrive in Mannheim via train it only takes 10-12 minutes to get to the appartment. Just take the tram to the "Paradeplatz" (line 4). There you switch to line 2 for one more stop to arrive at the tram station "Rathaus/Reiss-Museum". It is only 1 minute walking distance from the Apartment.

If you arrive by car be aware that it might be hard to find parking space during daytime. We can provide a voucher that allows a full day of parking downtown for 5 EUR (otherwise expect to pay up to 1 EUR p hour). Please let us know beforehand of you need a parking voucher.
