Family from Barnoldswick, United Kingdom September 2018

The villa is a very interesting mix of old and modern with many unique features. All the equipment for a relaxing self catering holiday is provided. The beds are large and comfortable. The property is detached and although the owner lives on site, he is very respectful of your privacy. The location of the villa is semi-rural but very quiet and the near absence of light pollution makes for wonderful night skies. The garden is extensive and includes a wood , both of which attract a great deal of wildlife. Birds of all descriptions can be seen but the highlight is watching the deer come out to graze just before dusk whilst you are enjoying a glass of wine. If you want a quiet holiday in a very interesting part of France to relax, enjoy good food and watch the local wildlife, then this is the place for you.

When we looked to rent we needed 5 bedroom rental, due to the fact we foster . The requirements mean that foster children have their own room not accessed by any other bedroom. However, sadly the single room we had allocated for our foster child was off another double bedroom, therefore for our particular stay this did not work. This meant we had one child having to take a twin all to themselves. (Cetainly it was not the renters complete fault) but had the ad stated small bedroom acessed via another bedroom this would have meant us booking elsewhere. Also not made clear in the advert some of the beds are children's beds so we had 2 adults using these.. these were the only negatives, we had a lovely amazing time at the villa which our family enjoyed, loved the big kitchen and overall space and general area lovely big gardens. We had a hicup where the down stairs loo didn't flush, wasps gaining entry but as soon as the owners were alerted they were prompt in dealing with it. It is quite far from the shops if you have a vehicle which I would say was essential it is not really an issue, a lovely drive through the country to Trun is quite nice to have that obligatory coffee and croissant. Pool was brilliant and such fun for lazy family days spent chilling out The villa with wifi, games and dvds are helpfull for the cooler/rainy days. The gardens are big and well maintained with lots of nature, butterflies, dragonflies, frogs , rabbits and deer. Local vet for our dog just before Trun was good too if you're thinking of bringing your 4 legged kids. Not sure how or why our electric usage was so high but we came home to a further £82.50 extra bill but the whole stay was so much fun we didn't mind having that cost.. The owners have been amazing with communication both before, researching anything we asked, (bike hire, fishing) , during (if needed) and alao after (even kindly returning a couple of belongings family left behind. Thanks for allowing us to stay at your villa

The property exceeded our expectations regarding facilities, as there was even more equipment available than featured, e.g. trampoline, table football. The indoor pool was a great hit, as was the pool table. And you know how there's nothing more annoying than equipment with bits missing? No such thing here; enough pool cues to go round, table tennis bats and balls etc. Mention should also be made of the full shutters available on all downstairs windows - very useful during summer months. Two very, very minor points: we could find no written instructions about rubbish disposal and recycling e.g. what day is bin day. Madame and Monsieur may very well have advised us verbally upon arrival, but my French was not up to understanding everything they said. And to help those that follow - use the water filter as the water is harder than I've encountered in the UK. Overall? A very memorable holiday in a very agreeable place.
