Farm house overview - owner's description
We have lovingly restored our 200 year-old farmhouse making sure we keep much of its original character.
It’s ideal for families, as it has 2 bedroom, one with a double bed, and one with twin single beds, either or both of which can be replaced by a cot. Downstairs, it's comfortable & well-equipped with its own private outdoor eating area and grassed garden.
It also has UK Freesat TV & a DVD player, and the kitchen has a separate oven and hob, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster and coffee maker.
Outside we have a shaded play area dedicated to younger visitors with swings, slide, and a trampoline & lots of toys and games to keep families entertained.
We pride ourselves that you’ll find everything you need to make your stay as comfortable as it can be and try to make sure you need to bring as little as possible with you – linen & towels are included, and any extras you might need for little ones are also available free of charge, just ask.
From here, you can easily reach Cognac, Saintes, Angoulême and La Rochelle to the north, go west to the glorious beaches of Royan and the Atlantic coast, south to Bordeaux and St Emillion, or east to Limoges or Oradour-sur-Glane. There's so much to see if you're inclined, but you can equally have a completely relaxed holiday in a gloriously peaceful countryside setting.

We are Ian & Lisa Elsey and we live here at Chez Augros with our two daughters, Katrina and Rebecca who go to school locally. We moved here in 2005, when the farmhouse was in need of near-total renovation and we've done most of the work ourselves, so were able to make things as comfortable and efficient as possible.
We love this unspoilt, rural area that we live in - the roads are quiet and even the towns are fairly relaxed most of the time. The coast can get fairly busy in the summer, but it's easy to visit for a day, then escape back to our rural paradise!
We chose this area because it's close to so many things to see & do - Bordeaux and Saintes are both World Heritage sites, and we're also within easy reach of the gorgeous sandy beaches of the Atlantic coast but at the same time, we're located at the edge of a sleepy village - we didn't want to be in town, but didn't want to be cut off from civilisation, either! This is the second sunniest region of France, and being sun- and water-lovers it's just perfect for us. The weather is reflected in the large swathes of sunflowers and vines which surround us each summer, and which give us a tranquil landscape we're sure you'll love too.
We particularly love our glorious pool area - we keep the water nicely heated from early May to late September, and find that it's a delightful place to relax & unwind, even in Spring & Autumn. It's also the perfect place to cool off and take it easy after a hot day sightseeing, its views over the surrounding farmland make it a delightful place to chill out.
You'll also appreciate your dedicated outside space - we find ourselves spending most of our evenings outside in the summer and it's important to us to have somewhere pleasant and private to relax.
