Overview

Set into the hillside this was formerly the house of the Mining Engineer. The apartment is on one level and has ground floor access (on the left, road side) but becomes a first floor with great views by the time you reach the terraces. The 'chimney' structure on the largest terrace is a BBQ, or an open fire for Autumn /Winter evenings ! (Great for apres-ski as well !).

In combination the two terraces have space of 45 sq metres, bigger than a studio in themselves !
These two front terraces look over the gardens to the old centre of the village of Vernet Les Bains and Mount Canigou beyond it. This is a place to rest without feeling cut off.
Oh it has free WiFi and Satellite TV as well !

Well equipped, comfortable and roomy
With plenty of sleeping and living room for 6 or 7 people. (We have had 9 for dinner, for a week, and it works.)

A smart living area with TV and Music, a sofa and lots of books. Individual seats plus Dining Table and chairs.
Toys are available as well, but at parents's own assesment of risks !

A well-equipped dining kitchen with Dishwasher, Microwave and Fridge Freezer and Oven/Hob.
(+ Washing Machine and Tumble Dryer in Cave ).

Central heated with radiators in all rooms.

Bathroom with shower and wc, plus a separate toilet.

Every Room has a view
The smallest of the bedrooms (bunk beds ) is not small and has its own patio with views beyond.
The twin bed room is very large and airy and has yet another perspective with great mountain views.
The double bedroom has its own doors onto the covered terrace, and great views of Mt. Canigou.

There are interesting walks from the grounds themselves (or even scenic runs !) and many more within easy reach.

Summary:

A smart apartment on wooded edge of lively spa village in Pyrenees Orientales. 3 bedrooms and great views. 2 terraces (45sqM) + patio + gardens.

Extra information (This apartment is set in nice grounds. There are only two buildings: the original mine engineer's house which is our apartment and a few studios, plus a small 2 storey block of studios. We say the apartment is equipped for 6, but we have had 9 people for dinner for a full week without problems. The communal gardens are all around the buildings and so have many aspects and views. We have two terraces facing Mount Canigou and the village of Vernet Les Bains (one terrace is covered) and also an enclosed patio area at the rear. The village is a short walk away and is lively, with street cafes even in January and village gatherings in Summer. Our situation means you can be quiet and restful without feeling 'cut off'. Oh, and there is the spa and casino as well ! The village pool is just minutes walk away.)

Reviews

From 2005 (only edited to remove personal stuff)''We had an excellent time thanks, the apartment was great, really well appointed - everything we needed.Vernet was brilliant, although I suspect a little quieter than the locals would've liked. We spent about 1.5hrs each day wandering to outlying villages, mainly the Plus Belle de France ones. We dined out about half the time, making excellent use of your Bar-b-que on the other evenings....I also made use of your library and finished two and a half books. Our trip home went as planned apart from slight hysterics from our 2 year old on take-off. It seems she didn't want to go home, but thenneither did I.''
Christmas visitors from Australia...We had a wonderful time in Vernet. The apartment has amazing views and was very comfortable. Seeing all the books made me very happy afterhaving no room to take any with us! The town was lovely too ...and the nunnery on the hill...
...We particularly marvelled at the surroundings on a walk up in the NationalPark above Mont Louis, and we had a couple of good dinners at the restaurantat the top of the hill town at Vernet itself. I've forgotten the namealready, but the English translation, they told us, was 'cow stable'. We also took the waters at St Thomas les Bains, and felt the better for doing so....
----One from a 2005 renter''Thank you both for a wonderful holiday in your apartment. We understand why this property won your hearts. The location, the view, the town and access to so many places. We loved the dairy herd coming up the road with their bells ringing, the wren singing on the balcony, the eclectic book choice on your shelves, the festival to bring the sacred flame from Canigou to the villages, the quality of the fruit farms..........''

Plucked from the e-mails we have received....''''Four weeks of vacation is over and I’m back in “the real world” again with many good memories from our holiday. We all had a great time in Vernet les bains. Your apartment proves satisfactory for 8 persons and we are very pleased with our stay. I think it’s hard to beat the view – village and Canigou - you have from your terrace.'''..........'''Once again – great stay and we managed to do lots of things such as: hiking, swimming, visits to old churches, monasteries and Cathar castles, nice restaurants, even the petit train jaune you tipped us about. We for sure wish that we will have the opportunity to return some other time.'''
