Set on the banks of the River Dordogne, 28km west of Bergerac and close to Ste-Foy-la Grande, this independent part of the owner’s château has been carefully restored, with an enclosed, private garden as well as access to extensive grounds with fruit orchards. The large, private, heated swimming pool (12m x 6m, depth 1.1m - 2m) is set apart (80m) within a walled garden with rose and flower beds and a pool house with fridge, toilet and furnished, covered terrace. Days out can include the sandy Atlantic beaches (approximately 100km), the Bergerac wine route, to sample the local wines such as Monbazillac and Pécharmant, or visit the many Bastide towns built during the Hundred Years’ War. Horse riding 1km. Canoeing/kayaking and tennis at Port-Ste-Foy 5km. An ideal holiday base. Shops, café/bar and restaurant 3km. (WARNING: We highly recommend that you do not leave your children unattended, as the river is close by). This house is not suitable for children under the age of 8 years, because of the nearby river.

  • A single bed is typically 70cm to 85 cm wide and 180cm to 190cm deep.
  • A double bed is typically 140cm to 180cm wide and 180cm to 190cm deep.
  • A “grand lit” is a European double bed, suitable for couples, and can be smaller than the usual UK or American doubles. It is typically 130cm wide but in some instances may be wider; it is approximately 180cm to 190cm deep.

A bunk bed is two single beds, one on top of another. Some properties also have pull-out beds, sofa beds and/or bed chairs; in a few properties the bed can be low in a wooden frame on the floor. The beds often have terry cloth sheet mattress protectors to protect the mattresses; please use them with the bed linen.

Some properties may have a loft as a bedroom: this is usually an open room at the top of the house with sloping walls and mattresses on a low bed or on the floor itself. You need to climb a ladder to reach this room. Lofts are very popular with children but may not be suitable for adults or elderly guests.

If a property has an annexe then it will typically be a building attached to the main property or a small self-contained building. Annexes often have no central heating.
